GSX Support MSFS / FSDT universal installer
« Last post by Michaelseikel on May 07, 2024, 10:40:58 pm »
I read through all the posts I can reasonably find concerning this.
I installed the universal installer to reinstall my GSX after having to do a windows 11 re-install.

1. Downloaded file off website into downloads folder.
2. Run file in downloads folder and 2 icons appear on desktop (fsdt live update, and fsdt installer)
3. I click either one and uac asks for permission and I allow it. it begins to install and green bar fill to about half inch and stops with no error message. Both will do this.

What I did further was to allow the addon manager through defender. problem is there is no option to allow the addon manger folder. You can add an executable that's in the addon manager file but not the whole folder itself.
I have tried uninstall and reinstall numerous times and going in to see if all is cleaned out and found something interesting.
I can uninstall through windows uninstall app function but the add on manager will still be in C:\programs(x86). then I can delete that folder and the icons are still on the desktop and I can click, and they will still try to run with no error message. It just stops like always.

I bought GSX and ran it for quite some time. Love it.
However reinstalling and running again is absolutely not near as straight forward in many ways for many people.
So, if we can find what other workarounds, we can do to get me going and once we do maybe post this a test case and solution because so far not sure I see this exact scenario anywhere else. All help would be appreciated. Thanks

GSX Support MSFS / Re: Stop stairs coming to front door
« Last post by SN737 on May 07, 2024, 06:56:41 pm »
I'll clarify again, because my reply might not be very clear:

- On arrival, you just CAN'T use the airstair, unless you don't select ANY gate, park on it, and select it only *after* you shut down the engines and set brakes. This is a known GSX limitation we need to work on, likely with a new option in the menu that will ask you in advance if you are planning to use Airstairs, when you select a gate on Arrival.

- On departure, you must extend the staircases before doing *anything* with GSX, that is before GSX created any objects, because when its objects are created is the time when, depending on the airstairs status, that GSX decides to create or not the parking front stairs.

That's how's it's been done, still gsx front stairs override the pmdg airstairs.

GSX Support MSFS / Re: Disable GSX menu pop-up upon engine shutdown
« Last post by Mr_Moss on May 07, 2024, 06:32:21 pm »
I am not referring to "good engine start", I am referring to engine SHUTDOWN. At the end of a flight, when I shut the engine down (or in some aeroplanes, turn the battery/avionics off), the GSX menu appears automatically. I would like to turn this behaviour off, as it sometimes causes a brief stutter when the menu opens.

Thank you

GSX Support MSFS / Ogg format of cabin announcements
« Last post by LeFouVolant on May 07, 2024, 06:09:00 pm »
Hello, I have developed an application that allows you to create personalized announcements (plane, company, departure and arrival airports, names of crew members, time...) using Google's TextToSpeech API. The Vorbis OGG format is known to the API and the file (for example) BoardingWelcome.ogg is read by VLC.
On the other hand, in GSX Pro this announcement is not read.
Do you think this is an OGG CODEC problem?
THANKS

It would be more helpful if you posted a diagnostic log. The most common mistake is using the Simbrief Pilot ID (numeric), instead of the Username/ALIAS, which is a name instead. GSX requires the ALIAS, not the ID.

GSX Support MSFS / Re: Pushback problem
« Last post by virtuali on May 07, 2024, 05:20:20 pm »
Any reason why it would only happen with this kind of tug?

Please don't confuse the cause with the effect. The real cause, is the default pushback that started for some reason. Which has the *effect* seen in the video, because the towbarless pushback (because it raises the airplane), must completely freeze the airplane, so it would be entirely under GSX control.

So, the issue is the default Pushback is fighting with the frozen airplane. Note that, with "default pushback" it can be anything, like the airplane own code, or another add-on that uses the default pushback, a key bound to it, or the ai copilot trying to pushback the airplane (which of course will use the default system).

That's a list of all things that might possibly call up the default pushback.

Hmm, thanks, will try to look into it, however I wouldn't know where to start. Any reason why it would only happen with this kind of tug?

GSX Support FSX/P3D / Re: Only 2 pallets for a 747 freighter?
« Last post by virtuali on May 07, 2024, 01:43:37 pm »
before the last update I always got 4 pallets no matter what the payload was set to.

That's of course normal because, before the last update, the number of cart was unrealistically fixed, because we were swamped by users not understanding the "you must load the airplane first" concept, but then lots of users wanted the variable number back (it WAS variable, years ago), so we put it back, hoping the payload issue would be understood, but it seems is still a difficult concept to grasp.

Quote
When you say payload are you talking about the payload in the pmdg fmc under payload or is it from a p3d payload setting?

GSX can only read standard airplane variables so, the payload is read from these. GSX can't read anything else so, we can only assume that, when you load something in the PMDG FMC, it will be eventually matched in the standard payload variables.

Which might not happen *immediately*, because the airplane might simulate a progressive loading, so the variable might not be updated to the final value until this is completed. This was an issue which forced us to switch to the unrealistic fixed loading, for example.

However, now that we have Simbrief support, the issue of the airplane loading slowly is no longer an issue, because if you use Simbrief, the variable amount of carts will then based on the PLANNED payload, not the actual values when you call GSX, which might be or not updated, depending how the airplane handles them.
