Side Effect?
« on: September 24, 2011, 08:56:23 am »
Hi Virtuali,

KLAXv1.1 is great! Thanks so much for your hard work.
But after install KLAX, XPOI disappeared from the couatl menu. This is not the first time and I somehow could recover this problem so far.  ???
But this time whatever means I know of (learned from many Support threads ; remove XPOI, reboot Win, reinstall XPOI, reinstall KLAX, and so on)don't work.
Could you tell me how I can recover XPOI, and why this happens?

Thanks in advance.

Try to download XPOI again, its installer has been updated too.

Oh no!

Restarted FSX shows me no couatl menu, and KLAX buildings disappeared! ???
I'll try other installation orders.

OK, this installation order did it : New XPOI ⇒ reboot Win ⇒ KLAX ⇒ reboot Win.
I don't know the logical explanation but it did it. :o

The installation order doesn't matter, since both KLAX and XPOI now contains exactly the same files. What fixed might have been the reboot, possibly because you launched one installer too quickly after FSX closed, and this might cause problems because not everything is cleaned up, which a reboot always fixes.

"you launched one installer too quickly after FSX closed"

Goof......I've read the same sentence countless times everywhere on this forum! So I waited enough (so I guessed), but seems to have not been enough. Ummmmmmm.  :'(
Thank you so much for the reply.

PS.
I decided VirusBuster2012 anti-virus and couatl don't get along fine with each other (only my deduction ; of course I had set the file exceptions but at times suddenly couatl menu disappeared when I started FSX), so reinstalled 2011. Since then the disappearance of couatl menu hasn't happend and been quite stable.
