iFly 737 MAX8 - Automatically load number of PAX from SimBrief OFP
« on: September 30, 2025, 03:41:25 pm »
In the same way you have an option to load the amount of fuel based on the OFP generated by SimBrief, would it be possible to also have GSX automatically update the number of PAX?

The number of PAX is also in the OFP and if GSX could use that number to automatically update the EFB with the same amount, that would be awesome!

I asked the same thing over here but never saw any replies ->

GSX won't change the fuel quantity on airplane with a custom fuel system, let alone the passengers number, which is always a custom internal system. Even planes using a standard fuel system usually have their own internal simulations running on it, so GSX is correctly leaving them alone.

Several developers have coded GSX integration, so their own custom system can work with GSX in the safest way only the airplane developer can possibly know. In a specific case (PMDG), the airplane has an SDK, which GSX uses to program the FMC (so it's still not really changing the fuel/payload: it's just pushing buttons on the FMC) to achieve a similar result, but we used that method because when we added it, PMDG didn't had an EFB, so it was the only way to automatically sync Simbrief with it.

But the best way is to have the airplane developer code an integration, since it would work best with the way the airplane own procedures, that nobody other than the developer knows.

Hmm...but I clearly see how there's an option in the GSX menu to load the amount of fuel from the OFP and when selecting that option, I see how the fuel starts slowly increasing in the aircraft.

That to me would be GSX changing the fuel amount or is this a feature added to GSX by the iFly 737 MAX8 devs you mean?

That means the airplane has been flagged as using a standard fuel system.

I really don't recall how the iFly works but, if we configured it like that, it means that, at the time of testing when the GSX internal profile was made, we noticed the fuel could be controlled by GSX without the airplane fighting against it ( you can't do that with Fenix or PMDG for example), so we leave the default in those cases.

That doesn't automatically mean GSX refueling would always fit in the way the airplane own logic works, from a procedural (order of operations) point of view, rather than just the refueling step taken in isolation, which according to your report, works like in a default airplane.

OK, got it.

To clarify, here are some screenshots showing what I'm referring to. I've been using this option for some time now and seems to work fine where GSX starts filling up the wing tanks.

So, what is your problem then ? The airplane is configured to use a standard fuel system, so the menu with the quantities comes up, and the refueling works, that's how's supposed to be.

Well, the "problem" or rather question wasn't about refueling as you can tell from my initial post but if there would be some way to have the number of PAX populated automatically as well. Where the number of PAX would come from the SB OFP.

The way it is now and as discussed, it's very convenient when you can simply have GSX put in the amount of fuel from the SB OFP but I still have to fill in the amount of PAX manually in the EFB as seen below. To get the right CG value etc.

some way to have the number of PAX populated automatically as well.

Which I already answered to in my first reply:

Quote
GSX won't change the fuel quantity on airplane with a custom fuel system, let alone the passengers number, which is always a custom internal system

So, as I explained before, to have PASSENGERS (always a custom system) entered automatically, there are two possible ways:

1) The airplane developer coded a GSX integration, so he can sync the GSX passengers number to its own figure

2) The airplane comes with an SDK that allows GSX to control the plane's FMC (PMDG case) so GSX could operate it.

Got it, understood.

Not sure if there's an SDK for this aircraft or if there will be down the road. I don't see the devs doing anything on their side with an already full plate of other things to look into.
