There's some strangeness with the standalone live updater that reverts to 3.5.5
Cloudflare replication delays. The installer doesn't know anything about the latest version, except what it can see from the internet. Version 3.5.5 doesn't exists anymore since more than a week, and even the beta channel is completely empty so, even if you didn't exit out of it, it would show 3.5.6 and will download that, because we don't have any other version online, and every request on the beta channel domain is automatically routed to the release channel.
However, if your local cloudflare node suffered from a replication delay, it will show an outdated copy of our server, one where 3.5.5 was still the latest version available. Some nodes updates in minutes, some in hours, some take some days, it's completely outside our control, your only recurse is:
- Not assuming it's an installer "bug"
- Use this weird information (your installed version being newer than the latest one) to know it's a network problem.
- Use a VPN to connect to another node, or use the Offline Installer, or wait until the problem will fix itself. It always does.
