With Beta version still the GSX spinning forever. It looks like GSX became worse because with MSFS2020 the GSX started with spinning too.
This is very sad to hear because as I've said, not being able to reproduce the problem with any of the simulators ( or, let's say, it might have happened to me once in 100 times I start the sim ), I could only guess what the problem might be, and have the menu more resilient dealing with it.
One change in the Beta is that, the amount of time the menu waits for some communication with the sim before giving up has been increased from 60 to 120 seconds. Since it normally takes 1-2 seconds at most to open, and about 10-15 seconds at most after an update, I assumed a 60 seconds was reasonable but, in fact, if a system is particularly taxed, it might really take that much. But there has been lots of changes to the menu as well that should have made it more reliable.
However, as I've said, the menu is "just" a menu, GSX can work without it (that's how the remote control works), so if there's something else that is making GSX itself stuck, the menu can't do anything to prevent it, so we need to understand the real cause, and there might be several, such as:
- Simconnect or WASM timeouts
- Too many Simobjects in the sim, causing Simconnect to first stop accepting to create new object, but eventually breaking up entirely with no other way to fix than restart the sim.
All of this can be of course troubleshooted but, since I cannot reproduce it (I just loaded MSFS 2020 while I was writing this, with the PMDG 777-200, menu loaded instantly in less than 1 second, then I tried it again after removing the GSX models cache, it loaded in about 10 seconds, as expected ), the only possible way to find why it's happening to you, is checking all possible logs on your system.
This is really not feasible to do on a forum, because it would involve a constant back and forth of lots of things to check while they are happening, so I suggest you come to the GSX Community channel on Discord (and if you register with another nickname, make it clear who you are on the forum), open a thread on the help-support section, and I can follow you at every step.
Another alternative might be having a remote assistance session, PM me if you think this might be better for you.
