Updater always downloading specific files

I have noticed this a long time with ORDv2 and I have begun to see this with LFSB as well. Every time I run the updater specific files are being downloaded for these products every time. Why is that? This is the log. I ran the updater twice back to back and the logs were the same.

With KORD V2 and LFSB, two different set of textures can be installed, one that works best with SSAA and another one that works best with MSAA. If you frequently change this setting, it's entirely normal the update will re-download files, if the last used set of texture is not the one that matches your CURRENT Antialiasing setting in the sim.

I am not changing the setting at all and everytime I run the updater it is downloading these files over and over again. I learned over time with FSX and P3D if it ain't broke don't play with the settings.

I cannot replicate the updater downloading those files over and over without changing the antialiasing settings. It just doesn't do that.

But it's entirely normal and expected it would do that, if the settings are changed since the last time you ran the updater.

I'm seeing the same thing as tbarker, Umberto. In my case it's only the KORD files, as I don't have LFSB. It's not even a minor annoyance, but if it's not supposed to be doing this, I'd be glad to help troubleshoot it if you have any idea what might be causing the behavior.

Does it happen if you set antialiasing to SSAA ?

Correct, when SSAA enable , doing 2 updates in a row doesn't re download. SO its only when SSAA is disable

That's even stranger. I tried setting MSAA here, but it doesn't download anything else. I only see the "SSAA is DISABLED, we'll install a versions of ground textures optimized for MSAA" text.

I think the logic is reversed. The first time I did an update after having switched from SSAA->MSAA, It didn't download the textures. Where it should have had. Then every run of update re-downloads, where it shoudn't.

Ok, now I understand the issue.

And it's entirely normal if you run MSAA, since the updater considers the SSAA set to be the default ( is the one that came with KORD initially ) so, if you have MSAA, it will first download what it considers the default, and then it will copy over, locally, the MSAA textures set over.

We might add an additional check for this but, in any case, you are getting the correct textures, an addition check would only result in us wasting less server bandwidth.

I am also puzzled.

I run P3dV4.5 HF3, have KORD2. And have SSAA enabled in prepar3d.cfg which shows the specific cfg area as follows:

The Live update time and again when I start it runs through until "completed" and states in the last activity line " SSAA is DISABLED (which it is definitely not before I start the Live update - and still is definitely not after the Live update completed process), we'll install a version of ground textures optimized for MSAA." ( see enclosed snapshot). I do not want it to install MSAA version, but SSAA version, but it continues to ignore my prepar3d.cfg SSAA seting and injects MSAA textures as it seems.

How can I verify within the KORD2 textures directory ( which files and what file date/ size) if its the SSAA texture or the MSAA texture, just to double check.

But again, the live update window shows as per enclosed, which puzzles me.

What's wrong opn my side or on updater side?

I already replied in another thread. Your Prepar3d.cfg is corrupted, so the updater cannot read it correctly.
