Unable to use GSX after it suggested an update
« on: February 06, 2017, 09:20:43 pm »
Hello,

I'm a huuuge fan of your product(GSX) and its one of my favorite add-ons in the game (with that ass kissing we can get to the real issue :P )

Since i bought the product which was around mid December I've had 0 problems with it, and i really mean 0 problems.

A few days ago i got a message that GSX/Add-on-manager wanted to do an update which i postponed until today.
After the update I'm no longer able to use GSX because everytime i enter an airport with any plane i get that couatl has stopped working. The error log show the following:

couatl v3.1 (build 3625)
panic log started on Mon Feb 06 21:04:25 2017

problem raised by addon <unknown>
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "couatl\common\fsm.py", line 73, in executeDoFuncToCompletion
  File "couatl\GSX\assistanceServices\__init__.py", line 825, in do
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'gsx'
{}

Any suggestions or help is highly appreciated!

PS. Im P3D user.

Regards
Stefan

It looks like GSX is acctually running but I can't access the ctrl+F12 menu. If i start engines and then press CTRL+F12 i get the message that says i need to stop engines to request ground services. But if turn off engines and press CTRL+F12 nothing appears.

This error is really puzzling, it shouldn't happening, because it looks like you haven't GSX installed. Are you sure you installed GSX and not just the Addon Manager ? Maybe you removed it and then reinstalled the Addon Manager without GSX ?

Yes I'm sure. I even uninstalled GSX and re-installed it with the newest full installer and still same problem. After that i installed the Add-on manager (GSX still installed) seperate, still the same problem.

I uninstalled both again and just re-installed GSX, and now i can atleast enter the game without couatl crashing, but I cant use GSX(CTRL+F12) not working (not CTRL+SHIFT+F12 either)

Could you please check if you disabled GSX, maybe when trying to get rid of the problem ? It can be done with the GSX menu, by choosing the "Disable addon" menu option.

Of course, if you disabled it, it would not be possible to access the GSX menu now, but that setting is saved in this file:

%APPDATATA%\Virtuali\Couatladdons.ini

See if you have these lines near the start:

[gsx]
disable = 1

and change it to

[gsx]
disable = 0

Then start FSX again.

This is strange, because I can reproduce the problem exactly with the same error, if I set it to 1, but it goes away immediately if it's set to 0, which is the default, of course.

It requires a Couatl restart for the setting to be read and, it's even better if you edit the file with the sim closed.

I managed to create the same error at home on my computer
This occurs when your uninstall GSX without answers "yes" for uninstall Manager and Couatl in the same time
In this case, after reinstall GSX, I found this error !
For solve, just uninstall GSX and answers "yes" for delete Manager and Couatl ... after check if the folder Coualt are delete and re install full GSX !
I dont 'no if my experiance help you !

( + Also ... after change and run the first time your simulator   ... waiting 4" the programme regenerated the cach add-on programme ... in this time, that's possible ctrl + Maj F12 are not available )

I checked it right now, and it doesn't do that. At the end of the uninstallation, the fsdreamteam\Couatl\GSX folder is always removed, even if you haven't replied Yes to any of the questions so, if that folder is removed, GSX won't even be loaded, so it cannot cause that error (I tried, of course).

Or, maybe, you were saying that you replied Yes to ONE of the two question, and No to the other one ? Do you recall which you said Yes and which you said No, if this is case ?

I've already tried uninstallning GSX completley and in the same un-installation process i removed couatl and addon-manager as well.

@virtuali do i need to remove any files manually in order to do a full un-installation of some kind?

I've tried restarting couatl between changing thoose values in the .ini file but with no success.
Maybe we should set up a teamviewer session if you think that is needed.
