Aerosoft CV-63 and Pitching Deck
« on: April 21, 2016, 03:18:37 pm »
I was playing around with Aerosoft's Kitty Hawk and the Pitching Deck program and found something that some of you might find interesting and fun. Both the default Acceleration carrier and Javier's Nimitz have their FLOLS stabilized in relation to the deck, meaning if you use the Pitching Deck program, the ball will continuously change from high to low and back again based on if the deck is up or down. However, it seems the meatball on the Aerosoft Kitty Hawk is stabilized in space - so it gives reliable glideslope information regardless of deck position. If you enjoy doing pitching deck ops like i do, give Aerosoft's boat a try. I think you'll enjoy the challenge.

Here's a test vid I did of the deck pitching while the ship was stationary.

That is really cool, thanks for pointing out. Also noticed the deck lights move with the ship, versus Javier's deck lights float around during pitching deck.

Can you shoot a video of a full landing during pitching deck?

Looks like I'll have to add to vLSO some reaction, like PD (Pitching deck), DD (Deck down) and DU (Deck up)...

That would be a cool addition for the pitching deck scenario Paddles. Anything else you working on these days for vLSO? Still such a great program and fun to remember the path to get it where it is today, thanks again!

I've been working on a new version - totally new design, new features etc. Can't tell the exact ETA, maybe June or mid-summer...

Will do, Goonie. That should be interesting! :)

Definitely not my best flying, and I'm likely to get a finger-wagging from the LSO during the debrief of my second pass, but hey - I got aboard! LOL :)

Thanks Micro! Great stuff!

Looking forward to future vLSO with pitching deck calls  to keep us out of the "spud locker" on the back of the ship.  ;D

Nice video, but...  PhantomTweak thinks I made vLSO and Micro thinks Paddles made Pitching Deck?  I'm confused. :P

Crap! Sorry, Orion. I know the Pitching Deck program is yours. That was a typo that was supposed to credit you for the Pitching Deck and credit Paddles for the vLSO. My bad. I'll fix it right now. :-\

My deepest apologies. I didn't fact check as I should have.
I apologize to Mr. Orion, Mr. Paddles, and any one else I mistakenly credited with the wrong software.

I still say these are the greatest freewares available for FSX/P3D, bar none. They make this "as real as it gets", without question. Although I still say the AI LSO's are mean to me  ;D

Many thanks for all of them, whoever made them.
Pat☺

I just want to point out, that at least using the VRS TacPack pitching deck setup, the FLOLS that ships with acceleration (and P3D) is space stabilized, but not intentionally. The issue is that the lights on the accel/Javiers boats don't move at all (which is why the night lights stay level while the boat pitches). To demonstrate, here's a video trapping the Nimitz; compare the Ball at both 2:06 and 2:14, while the deck pitches the ball has remained roughly the same.
