Would love to see support for the Simcheck A-300 !

Are there any criteria or requirements before an airplane can receive support ?

Thanks for a great product

We'll check it.

I'd say that we should probably give priority with those airplanes using custom doors and non-standard commands to operate them because if you use GSX with one of them, you won't be able to complete boarding or catering procedures, since GSX doesn't know about the existence of that specific non-standard exit

If you just need door location information for an unsupported airplane, GSX can work with an intelliscene.cfg file that maybe someone might have done for it, this will do until we support the airplane directly and if that airplane uses standard doors commands, it will work normally.

I've added the Justflight 757 Freemium, you can get it now (even without restarting FSX), by selecting the "Check Live Update" option under the "Couatl powered products" menu.

What about the CaptainSim 757-200/300 ? Nice airplane aswell.

I got a question: If any AC creator does a update for their aircrafts will it still work or will it require an update of the GSX files aswell? Like the upcoming 737 NGX patch

Aerosoft Twotter
Flight One/Virtavia BN-2 Islander
Carenado C208

It understand these aircraft do not need baggage handlers or even staircases (though with AES the Twotter can get a small staircase for it), but it would be nice to at least have a marshaller for them, as well as a small pushback truck or even hand push, is there any way that is possible?

Usually not, the airplane support is not made using complex hacks like reading memory addresses that might change between minor releases, we read the exposed custom variables using official SDK methods so, as long the airplane developer doesn't change his variable names, the airplane will continue to work.

Could you guys add the information for the Overland Boeing package as well as for the Airbus package?

I know they aren't really complex, but they're well worth, so maybe you could add them though.

Thanks already

Again thank you for a great work.

I will suggest that A2A simulation's aircrafts could be added. It may be difficult with the push back of most of their aircraft's cause they are from the second world war and have either to be pushed back by hand or pulled from behind, It may not possible today. I have a hope cause that would complete their realistic aircrafts with this realistic ground work.

I just noted that GSX treats the PMDG MD-11F cargo variants as a passenger version of the MD-11, so it puts a stair truck at the (nonexistent) aft L door, and then pings incessantly for the door to be opened.

It'd be nice to have a high-lift (i.e. Cochran) loader that could be used at the main cargo doors of the MD-11F, B744F etc.

Thank you guys, keep the suggestions coming, don't know if anyone noticed it, but we already added the Justlflight 757 Freemium, and the Captain Sim 727 in all its versions, which works just beautifully with GSX now, it's a "Level 2" airplane, with all sort of custom stuff, all recognized by GSX now.

I hope it doesn't come that you guys now only add the planes with a deep and complex simulation..

True but, keep in mind that users with those airplanes are stuck until GSX supports them, since they can't continue services until GSX is able to recognize their custom doors configuration.

Simple airplanes using mostly default controls, will work already, either by using some data from the aircraft.cfg itself (even if it's not as precise as being really supported) or by using an intelliscene file, if you have one.

So yes, freeware or simpler payware products will surely added, but we'd rather give priority to the most complex ones with non-standard doors controls.

Then GSX is not for everyone, but you promote that it's for eeryone.

I understnad the thing with the correct door positions, but I hate when I've to see a stair at an Overland Airbus A330-200 which misses the correct door exit hugely.

If you would add those planes, then you have added a lot of planes as there're a lot of plane in one package, but with adding for instance just a Captain's Sim ...., you just added one plane.

We don't promote it to be for "everyone", we always said it works at all default airports, not with each and every 3rd party airplane, from day one.

Quote

Sure enough, but with hundreds of payware/freeware airplane available, you can't expect to have them supported all from day one, and nobody promised this. They will come, in time.

Quote

Apart for the fact that, we also added the JF757, and that the Captain Sim 727 is really two airplanes (since the -100 and -200 have different sizes, the *are* effectively two airplanes) and they are much more complex to support, rather than just adding door coordinates, but how many new airplanes PER DAY should we add, to make you happy ?

I guess any number will probably never satisfy everybody, but it's a brand new software, and it's being DESIGNED to be constantly updated, so everything related to interaction with 3rd party addons will eventually arrive.

I think that some of the users who are asking for internally supported aircraft are forgetting that GSX will read AES intelliscene files.  A lot of them are available for download at places like Avsim, and if all you need is the editor, the AES basepack is a free download from Aerosoft.  Let Umberto concentrate on adding the complex payware aircraft, use intelliscenes for simple aircraft like Posky and PAB.

What the heck are intelliscene files? I've read those two words now a few times already, but I don't know what that is. The only thing I know at the moment is, it's something to do with GSX and AES.

Intelliscene is the name of the aircraft configuration file used by AES, it defines the nosewheel and doors of your aircraft.

Why is the iFly 737 only level 1?

Level 2 means the airplane features objects that prevents Pushback like wheel chocks, gpus, air units, etc. that appears on ground, usually controlled by a custom gauge or menu, which GSX recognize.

The iFly 737 doesn't have such things, so it can only be at Level 1, which is just fine, it means the airplane works perfectly together with GSX, with all its features, it's just missing those extras.

Also, I think marshalling parking operations should be available for ALL aircraft, regardless of type, regardless of the size (isn't this the case in the real world too ? Aren't some GA's, small bizjets and bizprops marshalled to their parking spots in real life ?).

I can imagine some smaller aircraft getting marshalled, without the need for further ground handling services like stairs, cargo belts and catering.

Oh ok, wasn't aware of that. I wrote this because yesterday evening I landed my Beech Turbine Duke at EBFN (Koksijde military base, Belgium), pressed CTRL-F12 but no pop-up screen showed up. So my initial thought was that GSX is not supported with this airplane.

Or maybe it's the airport ?

If you have everything installed and running at other airports, there shouldn't be any particular reason why the GSX menu wouldn't display at that airport. We'll check it though.

Yes, we are planning an interactive airplane editor that can be used inside GSX, this should be able to fix almost all freeware models and most of the simpler commercial ones.

The more complex types, like PMDG, Captain Sim, Qualitywings, FS Labs, etc, that have all custom door controls and other goodies, will always need to be provided by us, which is not really a big issue, since we covered most of them already in a very short time.

Hello.  Great product.   I read the note about the Leonardo MD-80.  Hopefully they will respond to be able to update it to a Level 2.   Anyway, at the current Level 0, I am having a problem with the catering.   All works fine and the catering truck arrives as requested.  Then it requests that I open "Exit 3" .  I open the right forward service door (which also opens the left rear service door) but nothing happens.   It continues to wait for me to open "Exit 3".    I've tried opening every door there is to open (including forward & rear airstair) but nothing works.   Thoughts??   (i hope this hasn't already been asked.  I tried to search the forums.)

That's exactly the problem with the Maddog. If an airplane has custom doors, GSX doesn't have any way to know if they are open, unless we can support it at least at Level 1, which means measurement+custom doors support.

We are adding a global switch in the next upgrade to ignore doors and go ahead, to fix these cases, but at present time, you can't really use the Maddog when using services at parking. You can of course use it for Follow Me, Marshalling and Pushback.

That doesn't mean they aren't aligned, because they are, but rather the model itself doesn't have the space to accomodate the door in the open position so, it's not a problem of the aircraft config file, more like having different models.

So far so good (I'm testing it at PHOG with the NGX).  Any support for the J41?  I know that there's limited stuff to do with a small aircraft, but maybe luggage and the like?

+1 for the JS41

Also, I think marshalling parking operations should be available for ALL aircraft, regardless of type, regardless of the size (isn't this the case in the real world too ? Aren't some GA's, small bizjets and bizprops marshalled to their parking spots in real life ?).

I can imagine some smaller aircraft getting marshalled, without the need for further ground handling services like stairs, cargo belts and catering.

I'd also like to see the JS41.  PMDG uses a "ramp Manager" to control each of the following:
1. an overnight parking kit,
2. chocks,
3. safety pylons,
4. passenger baggage cart,
5. a rope stanchion,
6. Ground Power Unit to provide AC power while parked,
7. main cabin door,
8. the baggage pod doors,
9. aft cargo door.

Cheers
Brent

There aren't any limitations to marshalling for smaller planes now.

Today I experienced GSX telling me that I couldn't marshal a Twin Otter at CYLW at a large GA parking spot..."pushback for your aircraft not available at this position".  I also was prevented from marshalling at KORS with a Beechcraft Duke Turbine.

The unavailability of the Pushback is not really related to the airplane (unless it's missing the front gear), but it's decided by the airport AFCAD in the Pushback parameter of the parking spot. If the designer set it to "None", GSX will respect that, on the assumption the designer set it that way for some reason. Of course, it might be just a mistake, but GSX can't possibly know the difference...

In any case, we are working on a feature that will allow users to customize an airport, and set some parameters for each parking, overriding what's in the AFCAD.

Umberto,

I would like to suggest the Concorde from Libardo Guzman as being supported one day when you have time :) It has more than 40,000 downloads. Right now, GSX almost works with it, except for the alignment between catering/luggage conveyor, and the door locations.
Thanks,

Thanks - FWIW, these airports were both published by Orbyx.  I'll raise the issue with those folks and see if they can shed any light on what you've said here.

Umberto,

A couple of issues with the Captain Sim 757.    When requesting pushback, GSX requests "Close APU intake".    In order to close the intake, I would have to shut down the apu !??   This can't be right.  What will power the electrical and bleed air until the engines can be started?    Obviously needs corrected.

Also at the end of the pushback sequence at KFLL the pushback tug appears to Rip the nose gear off the plane -- This reults in the plane crashing and the simulator is reset.   I tried to get a picture of it, but was unable to as the sim began to reset before I could get a screenshot.   I will possibly try a few more times to get a picture.

Thanks for listening

That makes sense, we might change it to "Turn the APU On", instead, like with the PMDG737, so you will not allowed to push without the APU.

Was it really the GSX Pushback truck, and not another similar ground vehicle, maybe a default one ? GSX vehicles all have crash detection turned off, it's strange they crash into the airplane.

Eric

The same exact thing happened to me today while I was flying the Leonardo Maddog!  I got so frustrated! I needed to open exit 2 and 3 for boarding and catering, even though all possible doors were opened already

This is my favourite freeware aircraft.

Umberto, can GSX ignore whether the relevant doors are actually open or not? As a lot of freeware planes do not have the option to open all relevant doors.

Thanks!

In the next update, we'll probably set it to request only exits 1 and 2, I hope at least 1 passenger door and 1 cargo door *is* available.

How about the Wilco/Feelthere E-Jets?
Thanks guys!

Hello, FYI I downloaded the intelliscene file for the ERJ-170 and ERJ-190 from the Aerosoft website.  Using this, everything worked fine (it might have worked without the intelliscene file, I'm not sure).

The only issue I had was in figuring out the Shift-E-3 opened the right-side doors for the catering vehicles, even though they don't visually open, using Shift-E-3 will operate them when required.

This is a great product, I can't what to see where this goes from here!

Umberto, I'm finding that when using the Concorde from Libardo Guzman, GSX is struggling to notice when I cut the engines.  I wait and wait but the stairs and baggage handlers don't come up to the aircraft.  They are there waiting, but I keep getting asked to cut the engines, when they are already cut.  Is this the aircraft or something else?

I'd like to second and third the request for the CLS/JustFlight MD-81/82/87. I have an intelliscene created for it that works perfectly with AES, but GSX does not like it at all, and I have problems with it asking to open doors that the a/c doesn't have and therefore never completing loading or unloading, just giving off that *ping* and ticker stating to open that non-existing exit. So, I end up having to reset GSX, and just skip straight to pushback. It is the only plane in my pretty vast fleet I have had any issue with, so it's not worth creating a new thread or anything. So, hopefully you can draft up a quick fix for this bird, if not though, I will definitely wait for the editor to come out. Any ETA on that?

Kilstorm--

Open your main FSX folder, then look in fsdreamteam/gsx/sounds.  In the sounds folder is a wav file called airplane_boarding, or something similar.  I just changed the name of that file and now it doesn't play while boarding.  Hope that helps, and I won't swear by the folder names as I'm not at my FSX computer, but that's what I remember.  I'm sure you'll find it! ;D

Love GSX!

feelThere E-Jets v2 (175 & 195) has a slight problem. I do not believe the starboard doors are animated, meaning I cannot open them. The result is the catering crew walks through a closed door. I would like to know how to change it so the main exit (forward port side) is used for boarding and the secondary exit (rear port side) is used for catering.

Companion question. There are two animated cargo doors on the port side. I would like to know how to get the cargo handlers to use both doors.

Keep up the great work!

Yes, pallet loaders, front and back.

That's great! Also, what about the luggage belt loaders? Will there be a time where we can have those use both the forward and rear cargo doors (have 2 of them) like on smaller planes such as the 737, A320 and so on?

Once we'll support two cargo doors at the same time, the kind of vehicle used will be selected automatically depending on the door height.

why no Level 2 support for PMDG MD-11 as PMDG 737 NGX?

You need to understand what "Level 2" means:

it's not that GSX supports a Level 2 airplane better than a Level 1 airplane: they BOTH works absolutely fine, Level 2 simply means that airplane has implemented additional stuff like visible air starters, gpu, wheel chocks, etc. which can be an hindrance to Pushback and GSX recognize them too. The PMDG 747 doesn't have any of that features, which is why it's a Level 1 airplane.

Even Level 0 means a perfectly supported and working airplane, the only meaning of Level 0, is that it doesn't use any custom doors to be opened with gauges or menus or non-standard keypresses, so all the exit commands are just like default airplanes.

Title: WILCO/FEELTHERE 737 PIC
Post by: soundman on March 02, 2012, 09:01:16 pm
Hope this isn't a duplicate request.

With the Wilco/Feelthere 737, the right forward door and the cargo doors are connected. What feels strange is that GSX asks you to close the Right front door after the catering service completes (Which in turn closes the cargo doors) Then tells you to open the cargo doors for boarding. (Which of course opens the Right front door).

Can the GSX recognition of the right front door being open or closed be turned off? It is automatically opened at de-boarding when GSX asks you to open the cargo doors. This would eliminate the need to open and close doors constantly.

Thanks

I just purchased GSX and I am so amazed what a great addon this is.  I fly the Level D 767 and do I understand from you post that that both cargo doors will have loaders.  Right now the rear cargo door has a belt loader but the front and main cargo loader should be a pallet loader.  Is this in the plan for the next release.

That's precisely what we are working right now. And it's going to be done in the right way, not like a rudimentary method based just on the door's height.

I had a great flight in the beginning with the default 738 for FSX.   I then made the mistake of trying it with the CS 707.
After that, I used the 738 again.  A message came up saying Coatl needed an update and all the GSX scenery disappeared.  Did I mess it up?

OK, I just reinstalled Coatl.  the 738 works, again, but I guess I should not use FSDT with any plan not listed on that initial list on the first page of this post, correct?  Is that the list that is being updated as new models are supported?  If not, how will I find out that any new planes are added on?  Thank you.

Surely not, you can use it with any airplane, just the door positions might be not very accurate and, if the airplane use non-standard doors, GSX will not know if a door is open or not.

But this doesn't have anything to do with the update, fact that you were prompted for an update, was entirely coincidental and didn't had anything to do with the airplane used.

Quote

Obviously is, the whole point of having such list is keeping it updated, and of course you can check which airplanes (if any) are added with each new update, on the update release notes, which can be read from the live update menu.

Is the Flight1 MD83 a different version ? I have the CD version of the program, and it only includes an "F1 Super 80" folder, but the only difference between the two models is the presence of the auxiliary fuel tanks in the MD83.

The CS707-300 is already supported since several updates ago, I've might just have forgotten to add it to this list, but it was listed on the release notes you can read from the Live Update menu.

Sorry about not being useful.  It was one about needing to update Coatl.  But I had just done the update like three weeks ago when I saw a message in-game that said it would be "automatically" updated (I remember other updates were manual, no?).

At any rate, I downloaded coatl again last weekend and reinstalled it.  I guess I did it AFTER my last CS 707 flight (where GSX did not work), and it works fine now.  Marvelous!  Now, I will check out the F1 MD-80.

OK, Coolsky Super MD-80 Pro does not have any method to open the cargo door or the right front service door....   that is not FSDT's issue, and your AI guys load right through them....   so, at least, I am not getting the tone repeating to open them.

Cheers!

With the new 1.3 update we released today, you can create your own airplane customization file so, as a general rule, internal GSX support should be needed only for those airplanes with non-standard doors commands using custom gauges/keystrokes, and most of them are already in.

We'll surely have a look at the CS 737 and 777, since Captain Sim usually falls into that category.

The Simcheck A300 have non-standard doors command. This is the problem...

Hello,

Am I wrong or there is not a global switch to ignore doors in the last update ? It will be very useful for the Maddog, Simcheck A300 and so on...

Please could you take that into consideration ?

As you wrote in another post : "A "GSX ignore the doors" option wouldn't be a good idea: since you said yourself seeing the nice GSX animations is one of the highlights of your installation, it won't look very nice having (for example) the service people or luggage passing through closed doors."

I can perfectly understand your point of view but with contrario, by now, it don't look very nice to have the service people or luggage asking "open the door...open the door..." while this same door is open !

Thank you in advance

Best Regards,

Richard Portier

SOLVED with the last update ! Thanks a lot.

I would surely appreciate if it gets added! :-)

Thanks!

Is this airplane using non-standard doors commands ? If it doesn't, you can add it yourself using the GSX Aircraft Editor.

But I actually didn't purchase this product to have to do some edits myself. I mean, why can't you just continue adding planes to the database?
Ok, there has been created a corner in the GSX support forum for offering finish edited plane files, but there're only two posts yet and, weirdly, when comparing the activities in this forum, then there haven't been any new posts for a quite a long time.

Beyond, AES has got an option to modify airplanes' doors assignment, but people who don't want to have a lot of work are able to download such completed files.

I neither used AES in the past nor will I use it in the future, but it had to be mentioned though!

They probably will continue adding the most popular aircraft, but they can't possibly catch every single one.  At least there is a database, AES only supports defaults.  You have to configure everything else yourself.

Since it's so easy to do, our time would be better spent adding new *features* to GSX, rather than chasing thousands of freeware airplanes.

What makes sense to add, is airplanes using non-standard commands to handle doors, we would rather identify and support those types, rather than simple models using all standard commands that would only need to tweak measurements.

The section was added 10 days ago only so, I wouldn't call that a "long time". That area will surely become more lively after we'll complete the scenery editor. And, the airplane editor will become interactive and graphic at some stage, so easier to use, hopefully people will share more.

GSX has such option too, it has a comprensive internal database of the most popular commercial airplanes, and it reads AES files as well.

However, that's not the point: it's not that you can't use GSX if an airplane is not recognized. GSX WILL work with an unrecognized airplane, because it WILL take the door locations and the pushback point from both the aircraft.cfg and the simconnect data. It's just they might not be perfect, because the doors coordinates as needed for the jetways don't have to be as precise as the one needed by GSX, but they are a reasonable starting point that shouldn't need many adjustments.

Are you sure ? With the default 747, if I open the door 1, 2 doors open and 3 staircase appear. To open the other doors on the left side, you need to open the door 3 (service) which opens *all* the remaining doors on left and right side.

Again, which airport (ok, EDDH, which scenery, default or 3rd party ) ?

As I've said (I've just tested it now), with the default 747, if I open the door 1, 2 doors open and 3 staircase appear. To open the other doors on the left side, you need to open the door 3 (service) which opens *all* the remaining doors on left and right side.

The reason why I doubt you are seeing exactly what you described it's because (forgetting the staircases for a moment), it's just not possible you would have 3 doors opening when opening the Exit 1 with the default 747, as you described.

Only the first 2 are linked to the Exit 1 in the default 747, and this doesn't have anything to do with GSX, it's how the default 747 model is made, it would be like this regardless if GSX is installed or not, since GSX doesn't control the airplane doors at all, only the airplane model ( and its gauges) itself can do this.

On a parking without a jetway, I can see all the 3 stairs just fine, are you sure you haven't customized either the scenery or the airplane to exclude the rear stairs ?

About why the rearmost passenger door animation is linked to the service exit (Exit 3) that would be more a question for Microsoft that made the default 747 that way...

Unfortunately, it doesn't work at all, I guess, with saying that the vehicles might not be 100% precise at the doors you still mean that they're quite close to the doors, but this doesn't fit with Thomas Ruth's Airbuses, no single vehicle is close to its supposed door.

I tried out the editor but, for instance, the cargo door 2 from the A346 doesn't even have coordinates which got shown up in the menu.

No, you misunderstand, I'm not sure why there are three staircases. Only two doors open.

On another note:

Does AES configure the CFG file, I want to edit the doors on one plane, however, I'm not sure how to do it just editing the CFG using GSX's method.

It's not that I misunderstood: you wrote:

Quote

That's why I said it's the opposite, and it IS what is supposed to happen: when you open Exit 1 with the default 747, you should see TWO doors open and THREE staircases. Is this is what you see ? If yes, that's how is supposed to work.

Quote

AES configues its own .CFG file, that GSX can read too, but only if there isn't a better source of data for its config, the priority is as follows:

- If there's no config file at all, the data is taken from the aircraft.cfg and simconnect

- If there's an AES intelliscene.cfg file in the airplane root folder, it will take priority over the aircraft.cfg

- If the airplane is in the internal GSX database, it will take priority over the AES file

- If you made a GSX.CFG using the editor, it will take priority over the internal GSX databas

This might happen if the exits are entirely wrong or even missing, this is usually the case of airplane ported over from FS9.

Quote

This means that door doesn't exist in the aircraft.cfg OR it exists, but without coordinates.

Nothing that you couldn't fix anyway, you can add a section if it doesn't exits, and putting some ballpark numbers that might get you started, like this:

[cargo 2]
pos = 1.90 14.0 3.30 0.0
code = 2
name = Rear Cargo Door
uldcode = AKE

I made up values, but you should see something more or less in the rear position, it should't require more than a few tries to get it right on your airplane.

Yes, you can call just the Fuel truck or just the marshaller. The selected parking will be populated with all vehicles in any case, but they will not move until you start their relevant service.

In any case, it's best if you just download GSX and try it for yourself. It's free at any FSDT airport, and even if not purchased, it works on a couple of default airports too.

Ground service is perfect but since the engines must be running [lost all preflight data if not], the pushback is not available from GSX.

Thanks,

To get a proper Level 2 support, nothing has changed, since Leonardo hasn't cared to reply to our (multiple) requests, sent to multiple email addresses, including the one listed as support on their website. They are the only developer that hasn't replied so far...

To get it working, a GSX.CFG file has been posted in the Sharing area a while ago. That file will allow to use the Maddog, the only limitation will be that custom doors will be ignored, so GSX won't wait for the doors to be open.

If they are correct on the outside, there's nothing GSX can fix in they are not in the VC only, it might be a problem of the VC eyepoint or model.

Searching the forum will reveal a lot of results, because this has been discussed plenty of times. And, of course, if you read the manual (LATEST version!!) there's also a way to fix this by customizing the scenery in GSX, without having to edit the scenery itself.

We added the Qualitywings Avro 70/85/100 in the most current Live Update. However, there will be no baggage loaders, only baggage trains, because this airplane cargo door is too low for our baggage loader vehicle.

Also, for similar reasons (passengers doors too low for the available GSX stairs), there won't be passenger stairs coming, so you'll have to use the airplane own Airstair (enabled with the QW control panel)

Hi Umberto

That's what i saw yesterday, i've installed GSX v1.7 last night, but now i'm trying to tweak "Belt's sim.cfg" cuz i really want to use gsx with "146"
i know the vehicules won't be correctly aligned but it doesn't matter i just want to have the illusion
i know you said that "there won't be passenger stairs coming" but Let me tell you something..: Will you develop a compatible "convoyer belt" in the future?? that should be possible cuz AES belt match perfectly to the cargos doors...

Which vehicule match with convoyer belt in the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Misc" i can't find it by myself
i think it's "FSDT_Baggage_Loader" but anyway i don't understand anything in the cfg, can you tell me which parameters i have to set to tweak or remove the constrains

i know you said that "there won't be passenger stairs coming" but Let me tell you something..: Will you develop a compatible "convoyer belt" in the future??/

We'll surely do, and we need stairs that reach lower heights too.

Quote
that should be possible cuz AES belt match perfectly to the cargos doors...

That's not a meaningful comparison: if we used a simple animation like AES, it would have been fairly trivial to modify the belt loader to just go down a bit more. Since our belt loader is way more complex, with visible luggage, an human character that picks it up from the belt and move them to the baggage train, they must all be coordinated together, so it's way more complex to add an entirely new baggage loader in GSX, since it's without any doubt the most complex animation sequence we have.

Quote
i think it's "FSDT_Baggage_Loader" but anyway i don't understand anything in the cfg, can you tell me which parameters i have to set to tweak or remove the constrains

Yes, it's that one, but it would be easier to simply raise the doors of the airplane to be at least 1.2 m, the final effect will be the same.

However, I'll see if I can just tweak the baggage loader animation a bit, without disrupting all the rest, it's much better this way.

Have a look at this thread about the Avro:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=7189.msg60549#msg60549

I found a way to tweak the belt loader to reach the Avro card doors without redoing all the animations.

You will need to download both the "GSX Vehicles Mini Update" linked there AND apply the very latest Live Update to get the fix. The loaders will appear at an angle, due to the limited space available around the airplane, but I think it's an acceptable solution.

If you customized the Avro yourself, it's best if you Reset the configuration with the Airplane configuration editor, otherwise you won't see our fixes.

Thanks Umberto i'm gonna check that as soon as possible
i'm really impatient to do my first flight ith the 146,humm between lszh and lsgg :-)

Just before I buy the full version- does GSX work with any 3rd party airplane as long as it has the correct door information.  Can I check whether planes have the information required and is it possible to add this information?  I have read about some methods but is it certain/probable that I can get any plane to work.  Is there a program I can use to set door locations etc?

Yes. But for some 3rd party airplanes that use non-standard door commands, it might be tricky to know which variables they used to control the doors animations.

Quote
Can I check whether planes have the information required and is it possible to add this information?

The list in this thread indicates all the airplanes already included in GSX.

Quote

Everything you need to add a new supported airplane is included in GSX, which has a dedicated graphical editor. This is of course explained in the manual, which you can read even before purchasing (since the download is free) and you can add support for a new airplane and learn how to use the airplane editor, without purchasing it too, since GSX works entirely for free at any FSDT and Flightbeam airport and on a couple of Trial default airports too.

I have a request if it would be possible.
Could we please look into getting the CookSky DC-9 supported for GSX? That would be great as this is my new favorite aircraft to fly.
Thank you for the consideration.

No configuration file should be needed unless you want to change something. The DC-9 should work already as illustrated here...

There is a Posky utility tool that opena the cargo doors, but not the rear exit 4, however I would prefer to use a simple Shift + E

Any airplane can be made compatible, if you use the aircraft configuration editor that comes with GSX. This thread was more useful when GSX was released initially, with no configuration editor, so you had to wait for us to support it.

Now, support from us is only needed for the most tricky 3rd party airplanes that have non-standard doors commands (but you can still configure them, if you can figure it out the XML variables used), but usually free stuff use standard commands, so they can be adapted very easily with the editor.

Before the airplane configuration editor was released, it was needed some kind of support from the developer for the most tricky or non-standard airplanes. But now, an airplane developer could create a config file with the editor in minutes, including any special variables they might have used.

So, I'm sure that if their users would ask for a GSX config on their support forum, if they are really willing to start supporting their product again, it won't be any problem to provide such configuration themselves.

Title: Re: List of supported airplanes in GSX

PMDG has released 777, will there ben an update to gsx ?

Well, after GSX got an user-configurable airplane editor, the concept of having to wait for a GSX update to support any airplane is no longer relevant, because either the airplane developer himself might release GSX files together with the installer, or any other fellow user could create such config, and of course you can do it too.

So, unless there's something really specific to the PMDG 777 that would make it not compatible with it (which we still haven't heard of, but it's too early), GSX doesn't need to be updated to support it, you only need that someone, either you, PMDG or a fellow user (or even us, of course) would create a config file for it and share it, maybe in the sharing area on this forum.

Of course, if there IS something that makes the PMDG 777 not compatible with the current GSX version, we'll obviously update it.

Just like when Majestic released their excellent Q400, which required several changes in GSX (and in the airplane too), due to the fact they used an external flight model.

Umberto,

my system is suffering.

I've;

a) downloaded & installed the latest update 4 times
b) restarted FSX 4 times
c) even went in manually on the 3D editor and set up the cargo doors and passenger doors
d) the rear cargo loader still won't line up correctly with my 3D setting (even though the Front loader works fine now)
e) I still get a message from GSX that I need to "open exit 2" even though every door on the 777 (including cargo doors) are open????

Can you help me out here please???

That's your problem: if you already tried to edit the configuration manually, the .cfg file you created always takes precedence over the GSX native support which is now being added.

You must Reset the config in the editor (or remove the .cfg file manually), otherwise you won't see the GSX updated support for the 777

Umberto,

I'll happily reset the cfg.

However, what do you mean by "That's your problem"?

Did you read the series of steps I took before that? I would have liked a response for those too. Please don't handpick your responses. Look at all the issues raised and
respond accordingly. That's all I would expect from you and FS Dreamteam. I manually cfg the aircraft as a last resort, although I would have preferred not to.

Nothing seems to be working for me at my end no matter what I do. This is the 1st time I've had such an issue with getting GSX to work with an add-on aircraft. I just need to know "HOW CAN I GET IT TO WORK".

If I reset the cfg, and redownload & install for the 5th time, and it still doesn't work what is your suggestion?

Do you have a file I can manually install instead? I require some troubleshooting assistance and ideas.

However, what do you mean by "That's your problem"?

Haven't you noticed I've QUOTED you, indicating what I've meant ? The "That's your problem" line was just below this quote:

Quote
c) even went in manually on the 3D editor and set up the cargo doors and passenger doors

This means the "problem" I was referring to is that you used the editor, so the .cfg that has been created took precedence over the file in the Live Update.

Quote
Did you read the series of steps I took before that?

Obviously yes.

Quote
I would have liked a response for those too. Please don't handpick your responses. Look at all the issues raised and respond accordingly.

I replied to the only ONE step that would cause a problem. No need to reply to all of them.

Since, according to your report, you see the door referenced as "Exit 2", which is the generic name, it means the GSX file from the Live Update is not being used, because if it were, the main door should have been referenced as "L Entry 1", or the cargo doors should be called "Cargo FWD/AFT" same as they are in the PMDG FMC.

This is enough indication for me that a GSX.CFG file is taking precedence, so it must be Reset, or manually removed, as explained in the other thread I've linked, by removing the PMDG 777 folder in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali\Airplanes folder.
Title: Re: List of supported airplanes in GSX
Post by: XCLTM3 on September 05, 2013, 12:00:14 pm
Umberto,

long before I tried to manually edit the cfg file, I downloaded & installed the updater 3 times & restarted FSX several times also. Nothing happened. No changes or recognition of the 777 by GSX.

This was not addressed.

Just to clarify things.

I searched in :   "C:\Users\Myuser\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali"

That's not the correct folder, as I've said in all threads about finding the .CFG, it's located at:

%APPDATA%\Virtuali\GSX\Airplanes\AIRPLANE_NAME

And as I've said also, you don't have to manually search that file, if you use the RESET button in the Aircraft configuration editor, it's the SAME.

You might also want to check for a GSX.CFG in the Airplane root folder, under FSX\Simobjects\Airplanes\AIRPLANE_NAME. GSX won't put anything here by default, but you might have downloaded a pre-made GSX.CFG and put it here, and forgot about it (this happened to another user too), in THIS case, you must remove it manually.

And of course, you MUST install the current Live Update too, in order to support the 777

]i already ran the live update but notting

Then, as I've said in my previous reply to you, you might have done the same mistake of another user, that put a GSX.CFG file in the airplane main folder under FSX (not %APPDATA%), in the FSX\Simobjects\Airplanes\AIRPLANE_NAME folder, and forgot about it.

As I've said in my previous message too, if you have a GSX.CFG file there, it must be removed manually, because the Reset option doesn't remove it (since the Airplane folder is supposed to be used by developers, so we assume the file they made is "correct" and shouldn't be reset)

Quote
i have another problem i when i'm boarding or deboarding in the PMDG 777 i do not have the "hiloader".

That also indicates you have a wrong GSX.CFG file that is interfering and taking precedence over the files from the Live Update.

Also note that, if you remove files manually with FSX still running, you'll have to use the "Reset Couatl" menu option in the Couatl menu, to have GSX seeing the updated configuration. Otherwise you'll have to exit from FSX and restart it, which is the same, but it's much slower to do.

First off, GREAT addon, I've had AES, but this is much better.
Can you see if thrre is a way to make Captain Sims C130 and Area51's C5 Galaxy supported,  perhaps with something being loaded in the rear folding ramp... and something for the front of the C5, perhaps this would be able to be done for PMDG 747-xxxF. Would be cool (and most likely very hard from a programmer's view) to get something really large or long loaded in through the nose or rear door.

Thanks again for a great addon! Can't wait for the de-icers (cough cough) and the ability to have follow me to the runway.

As explained on the manual, the timings are per passenger NOT per door. Just select what you prefer to use, depending on how much time you need to complete other tasks in the cockpit, the slider is there for a reason, not all users use FSX in the same way: some users would get bored after 1 minute, other users needs 30 minutes to program their FMC...your choice.

I'm a newbie and confused  ???
I've read and reread this thread but cannot find a solution to my problem. I'm trying to obtain a realistic position for the stairs to exit 1 on the CS_B777-300ER_GE. At present the stairs are being positioned by default half way up the open door aperture. I've tried editing the setting by adjusting the numerical figure and also using the 3D configurator in the aircraft customisation menu, exiting the program via "save" or "Y" does not alter the stair positioning. Having no joy with this I deleted the appdata B777 aircraft folder containing the gsx.cfg file
Reading this thread I've double checked that there is no gsx.cfg in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B777-300ER_GE root folder. Despite checking and reinstalling the latest Live update and using reset in the aircraft customisation drop down Couatl menu in FSX Add-ons there is no B777-300..... folder in %appdata% aircraft.
Additionally in reply to ahiko you quote the gsx.cfg file should be in %APPDATA%\Virtuali\GSX\Airplanes\AIRPLANE_NAME. I don't have that %appdata%\virtuali\GSX file path the GSX installation created a C:\Users\Ian\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes file path.
Being somewhat confused by this problem and a couple more that I am still trying to sort out I'm not having a fun time with GSX although I can appreciate what a good piece of software it could be.
Any help is more than welcome.  :)

I'm trying to obtain a realistic position for the stairs to exit 1 on the CS_B777-300ER_GE. At present the stairs are being positioned by default half way up the open door aperture.

This is absolutely normal, for an airplane that is still not configured, so GSX will try to guess the door position from the aircraft.cfg, which is not precise.

Quote
I've tried editing the setting by adjusting the numerical figure and also using the 3D configurator in the aircraft customisation menu, exiting the program via "save" or "Y" does not alter the stair positioning.

That's not normal. Regardless how you change the settings (typing numbers or editing in the 3d screen), the settings will be changed when you save the airplane. Have you tried "Restart Couatl" AFTER you SAVED the changes ?

Quote
Reading this thread I've double checked that there is no gsx.cfg in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B777-300ER_GE root folder.

This is not relevant at all to your issues. The issue with a gsx.cfg file in the main airplane folder, is a suggestion we give to users that have made some kind of mistake editing an airplane that is ALREADY supported by GSX. If they mistakenly put the gsx.cfg file in the airplane folder, the "Reset" button won't work.

But this doesn't  apply to your case, because you MUST create a custom configuration (since the airplane is not internally supported), so ANY custom configuration you made, that will end up in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali\GSX\Airplanes folder, WILL always take precedence on everything.

Quote
Despite checking and reinstalling the latest Live update and using reset in the aircraft customisation drop down Couatl menu in FSX Add-ons there is no B777-300..... folder in %appdata% aircraft.

That's normal, of course. You are not supposed to have a file there. That folder will contain a GSX.CFG ONLY if you made one, using the airplane configuration editor AND save your settings. Since you said yourself that you HAD such folder, and you remove it, to re-create the file, you must use the airplane configuration editor AND save your settings.

Quote
I don't have that %appdata%\virtuali\GSX file path the GSX installation created a C:\Users\Ian\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes file path.

See above. If you never customized an airplane, there will be no such folder.

I see that yoiu support the PMDG777F but the GSX keep asking to open the main cargo exit at the left side. It is not possible to edit this to a corgo door.
How to change this?

If you don't want to use the main cargo door on the left, and you want to use two cargo doors on the right, you must do both the following:

1) Use the airplane configuration editor to MOVE the arrow from the left side to the correct place on the right side, and ROTATE IT 180 degrees to have the green arrow pointing on the outside.

AND

2) Since the PMDG 777 use a custom variable to hold doors status, change the name of the variable used in the XML expression and the to other parameters to match the ones needed for the forward cargo door in this airplane.

The one as used by the GSX default config is:

Name = Main Deck Cargo
XML expression = (L:7X7XmaincargoDoor,number)
ULD Code = PALLET1

You want to change it into:

Name = Cargo FWD
XML expression (L:7X7XforwardcargoDoor,number)
ULD Code = AKE

This, assuming you moved it to the right fwd position, which is the one currently free, that is used for the passenger version, and not used by the default GSX for the Freighter variant. GSX can only support TWO cargo doors IN TOTAL.

Hello Umberto. New to using GSX and already find it fantastic. Never bothered to play FSX on ground... until now. Quick question : what does it mean to say that an aircraft is "supported" by GSX ? I have to ask because I tried to set the jetway (Ctr J) to the CS 757-200 at gate 14, 11 and 34 and it never came properly to this aircraft. Should I fine tune it with custom setting etc. ? Thanks PS : I use FSDT LSGG as well

Quick question : what does it mean to say that an aircraft is "supported" by GSX ?

That we already made a GSX configuration for it, which is internal to the program, so you don't have to create one yourself.

If you want to use an unsupported airplane, you must first create a GSX configuration for it, using the internal airplane configuration editor. Once you do that (the procedure is fully explained in the manual), the airplane becomes "supported".

Jetways don't have anything to do with GSX, that doesn't control, doesn't affect, is not affected by jetways. Nothing you do in GSX has an effect on jetways in any way. They ARE bugged, and there's nothing you can do to fix them completely.

This will likely change in future versions of GSX, but it will still require all sceneries that use default FSX jetways, to be updated.

Umberto thanks for your asnwer. Just to stay in topic I would add 2 more CLS aircrafts beeing the 747 HD and the new DC-10 HD

Now I have a question for GSX as I noticed using the PMDG MD-11 when boarding pax GSX ask for opening the fwd L cabin door which is done by the shortcuts in the FMC or the aircraft. Now the jetways always connect to the middle L cabin door which I believe is correct due to the lenght of the airplane. (If you stop the MD-11 into the gate so that the jetway connect to the fwd L door I'm afraid the aircraft is way to aft of the position)
So would it be possible to change the GSX logic so that it asks the middle L door to be opened instead of the fwd one ? Also when starting the boarding sequence even if the jetway is already connected to the aircraft GSX would ask to operate the jetway which I find illogical. When you start FSX with MD-11 at gate you want the jetway to be connected already as pilots / tech need to board the plane, do the preflight etc. request the fuel & meal services etc.  then start the boarding process. (without having to operate the jetway as it is already connected) Is it possible to change the logic of GSX so that it checks if the jetway is there or not before issuing the warning message ? In any case it could b e a warning message but not a "condition for GSX to allow boarding" type of message.

Kind regards

Of course. And there's nothing we must do, you can do it with the configuration editor see here:

,
GSX doesn't know or controls ANYTHING about jetways. It only knows if a parking have one, that's it. There's no way to know if a jetways is extended or not.

Niceeee just did it and it worked. Thanks for the tip !!  Also I was wrong about the "Jetway message" I was under the impression it was an obligatory thing to operate the jetway when starting the boarding sequence but it is only an advisory message. As you say jetway is unknown to GSX and it is operator/simmer responsability to ensure it is there before the boarding sequence is initiated, which makes perfect sense. Last thing for now I would like to know it it is normal that the cargo loader stay in position (in contact with airplane) waiting for operator to close the cargo door when loading is finished ? I don't know in real live either, but looking at the cargo door it looks like it is "slicing" trough the cargo loader when closing. Any way to make the loader go back a few meters before calling loading finished and ready to close the cargo doors ?

Just installed new version of GSX and notice now the cargo loader go away from airplane at the end of loading so the above mentionned issue as been fixed. I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality of the work of these guys, I never ever tought I could enjoy ramp ops / flight preparation as much as I do now with GSX and these beautifuls airport sceneries we have now. I find it funny to set the time at ETD (block) minus 20 min. do the ramp service (meals, fuel, pax and cargo loading), cockpit preparation (FMS loading) etc.  all the while watching the onboard clock with anxiety wondering if the flight is going to make it one time or not.  ;D

Can not make a Stair on Feelthere E145, I did edit Rear Cargo Door but can´t make GSX to put a Stair on Exit 1

You must raise the door, because we don't have a ladder so low, try 2.05 meters in height.

Virtuali, again asking for you advice Qualitywings 757 is driving me crazy!  Can´t make JETWAY to go to Door 1 as seen on my photo, I only have Door1 assigned in GSX, if I re-assign Cargo 2 to other place JETWAY goes to Cargo place!  ???

That's because you are assuming that assigning doors in GSX would have any relationship with default jetways! As explained in the manual, and so many times on the forum, nothing in GSX has ANY relationship with default FSX jetways.

They work entirely on their own, and are controlled ONLY by the [Exits] section of the airplane.cfg files. Nothing you do in GSX would have any effect on them.

GSX door assignments, instead, have an effect on SODE jetways, but only at sceneries using SODE.

I use it's program to open the doors but GSX doesn't recognize it as being open so it keeps asking me to open the doors #2?? I tried other 777 (freeware and payware) and using the Shift+E+door number doesn't open the doors, instead they open the engine cowlings?? Any suggestions where I can reprogram a cfg file? Thanks.

Could be they added new variants that are not recognized ? This seems to be the case, since GSX (according to your report) is calling the door using the generic Exit 2 name, instead of the customized name, as used by Captain Sim

Check the GSX airplane customization page and, if you see a red sign on the first lines of the dialog box, it means the plane hasn't been recognized, likely because it's in a folder that GSX doesn't know about it, so you must create a configuration for it. These are the folders recognized by GSX for the CS-777:

CS_B777-200
CS_B777-PAX
CS_B777-200ER_GE
CS_B777-200ER_PW
CS_B777-200ER_RR
CS_B777-200LR
CS_B777-200ER

If the plane variant you are using is not one of these, you must create a GSX configuration for it using the editor.

Why you want to use manual coordinates, when it so much easier to move the door arrow visually, using the airplane configuration editor ?

If you don't want two right-side loaders, move one of them ( I suggest moving the AFT loader ) to the left side door, and simply move the arrow on the left side of the plane, be sure it's pointing outwards, and adjust the height.

If you don't want to find the name of XML variable for that door, you can just say "Door with no open/close controls", so GSX will still use it, but will ignore its open/door status.

Of course it's easier, you are doing it the "hard" way, haven't you noticed the "Customize in 3D editor" button ? That would open up a whole new, way easier to use, door editor, where you could see and move things visually! I never though someone would still trying to set coordinates by hand, when there's the 3d editor.

Quote

I suggest trying the editor, and maybe having a look at the manual too. Once you get inside it, it will be clear what you have to do. Select the pointer for the aft cargo door, then move it around to the other side.

You can create a configuration for any unsupported airplane using the supplied airplane configuration editor in GSX. Freeware airplane are the easiest to add, since they don't usually have custom variables for doors that would require figuring out the name of a variable.

The refueling works normally with those airplanes.

Please read the manual carefully, the explanation of how the refueling system is supposed to be used on a 3rd party airplane with a custom fuel system, and how the procedure changes depending if it has a progressive refuel simulation or not, and there's an example with the PMDG 777, you must follow that exact procedure.

Are you aware you can create a configuration for any airplane in GSX, without having to wait for it to be supported internally ?

We try to concentrate on the most complex/more popular ones, but unless these planes have very unusual or fully custom variables, it should be fairly easy to create working configuration with the GSX airplane configuration editor.

I'm just wondering if there are any plans to update GSX to be compatible with the new Aerosoft A320 Professional series. I've been running into some issues with doors that GSX requires to be open/closed already being deactivated in the customization panel. This is normally with Boarding with wants "exit 2" to be open. I've tried fiddling around the customizer, and it seems to have not effect.

It's one of the most compatible airplanes out there and, of course, had you downloaded and installed the GSX Trial version, you would have known...

Hello,
If I had GSX already is the 'code key' still valid? I ask because I was re-installing it on my new Alienware Aurora R7 and was notified that an update was available as I was shocked, but pleased at the same time! This is GREAT!!!!!! I don't think I'll be missing AES all that much...not compatible with FSX-SE I hear!.

Cheers!

Gsx with Aerosoft Airbus pro 320/321:
- The menu ask for closing exit 3 and so doens't exist in this aircraft sim. Ignore this alert and it works as well
- 318 and 319, with only 2 passengers doors works well
- Some passegenrs looks like zombies I assume it for old ones :)
- Ladies are so "Italians" ( you know what i mean)

Otherwise, nice product and improvments

Yes, it is, just run the Live Update and be sure you remove any custom configuration you might have made/downloaded for it, using the Reset button in the airplane configuration utility, if it's not saying "internal GSX database" AFTER the Live Update.

I didn't knew a default MD83 existed.

In any case, are you aware you can configure GSX to add support for any airplane ? Default airplanes are very straightforward to do, it's usually the most complex payware that, although CAN be also configured by users without waiting for an internal support, might be difficult to do. But default airplanes are really easy to do yourself.

The Aerosoft A330 is internally supported, but I strongly suggest you read its documentation ( or ask Aerosoft ), because there's a precise procedure to use, because the airplane intreracts with GSX from its systems.

Are you aware you can create a GSX configuration for any airplane using the included airplane configuration editor ? A freeware product surely shouldn't require special support from GSX like the most complex payware.

Thanks for your quick reply, I'm aware of that. I have configured everything to my liking and everything works fine except the Safedocks. This thread started a long while ago, when GSX didn't had an included airplane configuration editor, nowadays is basically obsolete, since most users do their own configuration.

Hello Gentz;
Any chances that "Just Flight-DC Desing Concorde for FSX & P3D" will make that list?. After finishing GSX settings for the Concorde to receive the catering and luggage vehicles at Door R4 the door will not open when prompting (Shift E+2) however without activating GSX both R4 & L1 will open independently by (Shift E+1 & E+2). Jetways, Fuel Truck and the GPU do connect without any problems as well. By the way R1 which normally would be use for Catering on the Concorde after consulting with Techs they have inform me that R1 has no function. Any thoughts

It's not possible that using ( or not ) GSX could have any effect on how the airplane opens ( or not, or how ) its doors. GSX never tries to open any doors automatically and will not change how they work.

With the FS Labs Airbus, the plane itself integrates with GSX and commands how much fuel should be loaded so, it's best asking the question to FS Labs, since I'm not entirely aware of the complexity of their integration, which has been constantly updated too.

Two requests.
Having searched through this gigantic thread and the shared aircraft config areas to no avail is the PMDG 737NGXu BBJ supported by GSX? I have found the 737NGX's and also configs for the 737 freighters but nothing for the BBJ. The aircraft is recognised by GSX as jetways and services arrive at the appropriate positions but l'm getting the dreaded "Open Exit 2" message. I've tried using the aircraft configurator and the 3D configuration tool and everything lines up, the exits are correctly listed and identified as present or not. I still get the Open exit 2 message. I tried using the reset function in the configuration tool which had no effect. Am I missing a trick or does GSX treat the BBJ as an aircraft that doesn't use a terminal stand and only uses internal stairs and services?

Secondly, a suggestion. This thread and the shared config areas are gigantic and unwieldy; a locked topic with a catalogue of all the GSX supported aircraft that is only edited by GSX would be an invaluable reference tool.

Many thanks for any assistance.
Title: Re: List of supported airplanes in GSX
Post by: virtuali on January 05, 2022, 05:08:17 pm
Yes, the PMDG 737 BBJ variant is not internally supported in GSX. This could be noticed by the generic "Exit 2" message, which is the one of a default or unconfigured airplane.

Even if you line up everything, the most important thing to configure is the variable used to control the door's status, which on 3rd party airplanes is almost invariably a custom L: var, which requires an XML expression to be checked.

Assuming the variables are the same as the normal 737 ( at least for the doors in use ), the easiest way to "inherit" a configuration of another support airplane into a variant is as follows:

- Load up the supported version closest to the variant. I don't know how many versions of the BJJ PMDG has modeled but, I see the BBJ is based on the 737-700, BBJ2 is based on the 800 and BBJ3 is based on the 900

- Open the GSX airplane editor, and edit any parameter, even of a very small amount, like raising/lowering a door 1 cm, JUST enough to trigger the editor to save a GSX.CFG in the %APPDATA%\VIRTUALI\GSX\AIRPLANES folder

- Load the BBJ version, and do the same, so GSX will create a GSX.CFG for it as well ( you said you reset it, so I'm assuming you lost your previous modifications.

- COPY the FIRST GSX.CFG ( the one for the supported version ) over the one in the BBJ folder, overwriting the one which is already there.

- Choose "Restart Couatl" from the menu, now the BBJ should have a configuration with all the custom XML expressions taken from the standard version and doors with their custom names. You can now proceed to do any required changes, like removing doors, etc.

Thank you for the reply and instruction.

I still feel that my suggestion of a catalogue of supported aircraft editable only by GSX is worthwhile and also a warning placard at the beginning of the thread about the Exit 2 message not being the default or configured aircraft file. It would save hours of searching, testing and tribulation.

That's not needed. The information you need already in GSX. When you open the airplane configuration editor, in the top under the airplane title, it will tell you exactly from which source GSX is taking the information from which, in order of "quality, from worse to best are:

1 - "Aircraft data used by GSX: SIMCONNECT", which is the absolute bare minimum

2 - "Intelliscene.cfg", the configuration comes from an AES airplane configuration file. A bit better, but not as complete as GSX.

3 - "Internal GSX database", which means the airplane is internally supported by GSX.

4 - "Developer-provided data", the airplane developer has provided a GSX.CFG in the airplane own folder

5 - "User customization in %APPDATA%\Virtuali\Airplanes", you customized this plane

These are the AVAILABLE data sources, and this is also their order of PRIOIRTY ( the number I wrote ), which means if multiple data sources are available, GSX will use the one with the highest number. Of course, you don't have to count or know this because, the 2nd line on the same page will also tell you what GSX is using.

So no, instead of having a separate web page, which might be outdated or inaccurate, you can get the *actual* up to date information of how a certain airplane is supported and what GSX is using right now.

Thank you, I most certainly wasn't aware of that information it will be very useful to know. I wonder how many other of your copious customers are aware of this? Could this information be published as some type of banner?

Kindest thanks for your assistance.

What about Page 52 of the GSX manual ? I'll quote the relevant part:

Quote
When you first open the Editor in Dialog Mode, the following Dialog will appear, displaying the currently selected Airplane, with its doors configuration as currently known by GSX. As further explain in the manual, GSX can use different data sources for your airplane, with different reliability, depending if the airplane is internally supported by GSX, has an intelliscene.cfg file in its folder, or just by looking at the aircraft. cfg, which is the worse possible case.

Where could I find the GSX.cfg profile for iFly 737NG Advanced Series? From airports without jetways I call GSX ground services to operate Stairs and they don't dock properly so PAX flying (lol). Jetways dock well.

The whole point of GSX having an integrated airplane configuration editor, is that you can configure any airplane that would eventually come up, regardless if it's already internally supported by GSX or not.

Fixing the doors position it's the easiest thing to do.

From the GSX Manual, Page 38, the chapter that explains what the "Max Wingspan" option in the scenery customization editor does.

This option allows to override the parking radius in the scenery AFCAD, used to verify if a parking is too small to fit a certain parking. Sometimes, it’s possible that a scenery has actual space available around a parking spot, but the scenery designer has specified a smaller radius for that parking spot in the AFCAD, maybe for AI flow reasons, or to fix problems with default ground vehicles, or simply because of an oversight

I use GSX/GSX2 with JeeHell A320 FMGS, whose outer model is based on Project Airbus. As it works fine I think you may add it to the list. What I do not know is if refueling works properly, as I use PFPX/Topcat for load and fuel. If GSX would work together with these, this would be a nice feature.

Is there any way please the Quality Wings Bae 100-300 planes can be added for support. Even tho they are similar to the Avro planes, the profiles that work for those planes wont work for the Bae planes and just crash couatl.
