- We surely can't afford to "miss" Flight, because it IS the next flight sim from Microsoft, and we'll surely stand behind it.

- We can't probably afford to support 3 platforms at the same time, with one being 8 years old, which is also hinders our abilities to move forward

- We still believe FSX hasn't reach its full potential, meaning we'll continue developing on it well after MS Flight will be released.

That's leaves us with just one option left, which is to drop FS9. Of course, that doesn't mean FS9 users will have any problems with the existing products, since we'll still maintain them if needed, but I don't see us still developing new stuff on FS9 in 2012.

Taking for what its worth, I'm inclined to see MSFlight will  be seen released late this year or very early next year. ;) :o

Umberto, I've been thinking quite a bit about the new MS Flight, and was wondering what is the best case scenario from a developer's standpoint?  I know you can't reveal any specifics about 'Flight', but what would most developers prefer with the transition to a new sim?  Would they prefer 'Flight' to be an improved FSX where their current FSX scenery would integrate seamlessly into the new sim, needing no added development?  This would allow you and others to continue to develop new airports, without worrying about updating everything from the past.  Or, is it more beneficial to have you update all your sceneries and then resell them for the new sim?  This would take a lot of time, but allow for an income stream from your existing customers, along with new simmers.

I have a hunch that 'Flight' will have better frame rates than FSX (MS have pretty much said so already), and that would sway a lot of simmers to the new sim.  I'm hoping your airports, along with the other airport sceneries aren't "stuck" in FSX for the next few years, as we take advantage of the improvements offered in 'Flight'.  Maybe you can't respond to any of this; if not, that's okay.  I'm just thinking out loud here about spending for FSX (ie..being a good or bad investment).

I wouldn't be much worried, even if we had to do everything from scratch. What's really count, is how easy/powerful the new SDK would be, and what capabilities will allow. Even if FSX is way more flexible than FS9, still we had to do lots of workarounds to allow what users want in a scenery, which is fully customized look and sharp quality. We would like if Flight would make it easier to achieve this, and if it would lessen the chance of conflict between different sceneries.

Frank Lindberg:
I think that MS flight will be running more smooth than FSX, since it's the ORBX guys that make the scenery for MS flight right? Or I'm I wrong?

It would be very unlikely you'll be able to get such information here. Anyone that signed an NDA with Microsoft, can't even say he *has* signed one...
