GSX not available / Crash after airport cache loading
« on: January 09, 2026, 02:11:09 am »
Hello,

I have updated GSX via the FSDT Live Updater and now I have an issue.

After several attemps of updates, I started FSX again and immediately before having the main menue I've selected "EXECUTE" then "YES" when starting FSX, as it asks for couatl and Addon Manager. I took a plane and place it to a gate position in Lyon LFLL.

After the simulator has lunched and positioned the aircraft, the airport cache starts to load and roughly around 95% of loading, couatl is shuting down (so when I try to restart couatl from the couatl.exe, even if I see couatl activated, of course you can not use GSX anymore except if you restart the all FSX).

Any idea of why does couatl (or GSX) crashes just before the completion of airport cache loading? It never happened to me before.

Many thanks in advance

Most likely, you might have a corrupted .BGL, or a .BGL with a 0 length, enabling the log would indicate that.

@Josseleye, if COUATL is failing to complete the cache read a corrupt BGL is likely as Virtuali suggests.

Read my post #7 on this topic.

Thank you so much for your reply !

Where does the log is situated in order to find the corrupted BGL file ?  :)

You enable logging in the troubleshooting section of the settings page.

I have removed all Hervé Sors WorldUpdate AIRAC BGLs and now it works ! But a new problem happened, when I try to use jetways I have the famous "Jetways will not animate, SODE is unavailable". I checked it on the SODEplatformManager.exe both buttons are green (SODE REGISTERED and SODE ACTIVE) with the correct sim path.

How can I fix this ?
Thank you so much

Have you reported this to Herv? It would also help if you could identify the bad BGL.

I did this last year and he quickly corrected it.
Cheers,
Ray.

Actually, I do not know which BGL is bad. The couatl.log didn't reported it.

You have to use a process of elimination. Turn off one of the continents and reload P3D. I deselected Far East when it happened to me. If you try the same procedure it will take a maximum of 7 attempts before the problem area is identified. Watch the green bar showing Couatl loading progress. If it stops before 100% there’s a problem. If it doesn’t the data is clean.

Report that back to Herv and that will help him a lot. Given the trouble he goes to to keep this data up to date it’s not asking a lot. Then everyone who uses his data can benefit.
Cheers,
Ray.
