Prepare for Pushback and Departure problem at GCTS
« on: December 24, 2025, 11:54:22 pm »
Hi,

I have just encountered a problem at newly acquired MK Studios GCTS - something which I have not found at any other airport I use.

I go through my normal routine of roll out the GPU, operate the stairs, open the doors, call the Catering Trucks, call for refuelling, board the passengers, close the doors and then operate the stairs again.

I then choose Option 5 Prepare for Pushback and Departure.

Normally out of the Captain's window I see the Wing walker making his way across to supervise the pushback and engine startup.

This has happened at all the airports from which I have departed so far - until I set myself up at GCTS Tenerife South.

At GCTS no Wingwalker appears and no interaction takes place to initiate pushback and  supervised engine startup.

Obviously I can continue with P3D pushback and engine startup without GSX wingwalker and pushback tug animations, but it just doesn't seem realistic anymore.

I searched this forum for mentions of GCTS but none applied to this problem, as far as I could see.

Have I missed something?

Maybe I am being punished for using GCTS early - it was supposed to be a Christmas present!

Thanks

Walter

I don't think this is an issue with the specific airport as I have GCTS and it works. For me, occasionally GSX gets stuck on boarding so you cannot call for pushback - if you do and look in the menu it says 'waiting for boarding to complete'. The best way to deal with this is to reset the position in the GSX menu or restart couatl in the sim menu and then call for pushback again. Make sure you have your APU running when you do this as you will lose ground power. It only happens occasionally in my experience and I'm not sure what triggers the problem.

Hi, thanks for your response.

I tried the complete sequence again to no avail - the wingwalker was obviously out on the beach drinking a tequila or two, he obviously had a thing against Ryanair and didn't want the flight to take off.

I then restarted my flight with the aircraft at a jetway - not a Ryanair thing to do - asked for pushback , and hey presto, a wingwalker appeared. A guy without a grudge, obviously...

When I get a few more minutes to experiment I will move the aircraft to a different ramp spot in GCTS, down the end of the airport. I had tried a few beside each other before with no successful appearance of a rampwalker.

Thanks

Walter

Hi,

just move my aircraft to a ramp spot near the other end of the airport ramp.

Carried out the usual routine, then called for the Prepare for Pushback and Departure routine.

A very helpful wingwalker appeared and helped me through pushback and engine start.

This must be the friendlier area of the airport ramp.

I will stick with this parking spot from here on.

Thanks,

Walter
