GSX doesn't load/Couatl doesn't start

Hi,

I have a problem where GSX won't load: when I click "Start Couatl for for GSX MSFS", launch MSFS and try opening the GSX menu it keeps loading and then closes itself. When opening the menu again it will start loading again. I've tried reinstalling GSX already.

I've followed page 95 and couatl will still not start.

Please clarify if "doesn't start" or it "doesn't start automatically"

So it seems like opening the GSX menu in MSFS starts couatl, after it started it crashes instantly. Using the desktop shortcut does nothing.

The log seems to end when it says it's loading the Pyglet library, which is a standard Python library that we use to generate operator thumbnails in the edit menu. This library has some dependencies on DirectX and OpenGL. so that might suggest an issue with video drivers. Are you using an Intel ARC card maybe ?

same issue for me. Yesterday it started without any issue. Excluded at MS defender. No other sw is running.

You haven't posted your log, so we can't say it's the "same issue".

Yeah I use a B580. I looked at the threads of others and it seems to be an issue with Intel drivers, I believe you already gave Intel GSX licenses so they can look into this.

Hello my dearest FSDT Team,

Same here. it is stuck at:

I went into the Windows Event Viewer and found the errors attached below. That is where I'm stuck with troubleshooting. Apparenty it is related to igd12um64xeh.dll (I have a dedicated Intel Arc A770). It has been reported to Intel by a different user here:

You can see in the attached files i have the exact same problem as the one above.

However, there is no answer from Intel about what causes the problem. Could you kindly look into this to see where the issue is? In the meantime I am trying different ways of deleting Intel graphics drivers and files from windows and doing a clean install in the hopes it fixes itself.

So I kinda fixed it... Definitely Intel driver. I have an Acer Predator Arc A770 so i went to acer's website and downloaded the latest"officially supported" driver 31.0.101.5382. Pretty old one but now GSX is working.

So MSFS2020 will work fine with the old driver version I mention in the post above without issue so if that is your case, you should be fine.

MSFS2024, however, has the visual artefacts in font rendering that were reported in FS forums and were fixed some time ago. I am now installing the intel drivers one by one going backwards until i find the most recent driver that works with couatl and does not cause the font visual artifacts in MSFS2024.

I am also looking for information from intel regarding this issue and will report back in the upcoming days with my findings.
