iFly Boeing 737 Max 8 seated passengers do not appear.
« on: November 18, 2024, 01:59:24 am »
Good Evening !

In MSFS 2020, the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft from iFly, passengers do not appear seated, they board and when they are about to sit down, they disappear, I have already tried opening the cockpit door, turning off the fasten seat belt warning and nothing.

It is worth noting that in the drone camera, passengers appear in the windows.

I would like to know if there is anything else we need to do for passengers to show up?

The problem is caused by a somewhat unusual way the airplane exterior in the iFly 737 behaves. Even if you don't have GSX installed, if you go very close with the external camera (but still slightly about the fuselage root), around the airplane center, the whole exterior disappears. And, it never shows in VC.

Without the exterior visible, no Seated Passengers will show up.

We asked clarifications to iFly, because it's the only plane that behaves like that.

I can possibly fixed by changing this line in the airplane model.cfg ( for all liveries ) from this

withInterior_showExterior=false

to this:
withInterior_showExterior=true

However, I have no idea of the possible side effects, that's why we asked iFly about it, and we are discussing it, since it has an fps effect.

Any news on this one?

Would be nice to see the passengers in this amazing aircraft.

You can if you apply the solution I posted.

This change will cause the wing to become double in the in-cabin wing view, which can be clearly observed when the wing shakes.

unfortunately not a valid work around :( Wings are doubling up and creates a poly flicker and a mess.

Has iFly helped to debug this? Would be incredible to keep the PAX perfectly and solve for this doubling. The cabin light control with the PAX is just another level of realism lol

Cheers and thanks for a great product.

Of course, and it's precisely why we don't enabled it automatically. As I've said, it's due to the way the airplane exterior and interior models relate to each other in the iFly 737, there's nothing we can do to fix this, it would require some changes to the airplane model itself.

For some reason, is the only airplane that works like this.

We can't attach passengers to both exterior and interior (that might be a "solution"), because that would instantly double the number of objects created for no reasons, that's why GSX always attaches passengers to the exterior model, so they could be seen from both the interior and exterior, but this plane is not designed in a way that showing both the interior and exterior together is feasible, and it's quite unique.

In my case the effect off this solution is that the whole aircraft don't appear on the parking (msfs2020).

Over here it's working just fine these days and great how the PAX disappear when closing the cockpit door to save some FPS during the actual flight. Then you can enjoy watching those PAX again when you're on the ground :-)

If with "solution" you mean the fix suggested above, is no longer required, the new installer fully supports the 737-Max, by attaching passengers on both the interior and exterior. We initially feared this would double the amount of memory required by passengers but, after proper testing, we found out MSFS ( at least MSFS 2024, I can't confirm 2020 ) is quite smart and efficient, so it immediately reclaim memory when switching between inside and outside views.

Yesterday I've tried the Ifly B737max and by surprise the passengers are sitting down. The aircrafts I changed withInterior_showExterior=true have set it back to false. Thanks for the updates.
