GSX crashing using latest update and Aerosoft CRJ-900
« on: August 07, 2019, 02:05:22 pm »
On August 5, 2019 I was able to customize 2 airports without any issues. I then ran the Live Update very late on August 6, 2019. I am now trying to customize LFPG (AFCAD and ini attached) but I am getting a constant error message as listed below. I have tried running the Live Update again and no new files were downloaded.

This seems to be an isolated issue with some parking positions. I was able to customize 18 positions prior to this error starting. I am using P3dv4 on Windows 7 64-bit, aircraft is Aerosoft CRJ-900 (same aircraft I use to customize all positions on all airports between 12 meters and 18 meters). Only other addon running is UTLive which was running for the first 18 positions, and has also been running on all the other airports I have customized. The problem comes when I hit F4 to move from the parking position to the Parking stand, or by pressing "Y" to exit the editor after moving the parking position. I can edit position J10 with no issues at all, but if I then select J13, I immediately get the same error message (the log for J13 is below the log for J12).

Error: http://prntscr.com/opik0q

If I select to restart Couatl, then I first get a message "Airport cache loaded successfully" but then no GSX objects show up - no jetways, no carts, no ground stands, nothing. If I try to open the GSX menu, i get the error "[GSX] could not find valid AFCAD data at this position, services are not available." I then have to close P3D and restart it to get GSX to work again (sometimes I have to restart P3d 2 times to get GSX back up), but even after restarting, I still get the same error as above.

I have tried both J12 and J13 in a different aircraft - default F22 and neither gave the error. I have checked the aircraft config file and everything is correct and unchanged in it. I can load up the default F22 at position J12 and customize it, then move to J13 and customize it with no errors, but if I then change aircraft back to the CRJ-900 and position J12 I will again get the error. I had no crashes from GSX using the CRJ-900 prior to the last update and used the aircraft to update a different airport just prior to running Live Update.

Just ran Live Update again and it downloaded 2 more files:

DOWNLOADING file C:\Users\StevenP3D\Desktop\P3D\GSX\Addon Manager\couatl\common\__init__.pye
DOWNLOADING file C:\Users\StevenP3D\Desktop\P3D\GSX\Addon Manager\couatl\GSX\assistanceServices\__init__.pye

I'll leave it for a few hours and run the update again to see if there are any more files and then try to customize the 2 spots in question with the AS CRJ-900 again.

You log shows to entirely different errors:

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'elevation'

This one means there were no airport loaded. This is not normal, of course, when editing a parking. Could be you have your joystick not calibrated, so the editor slewed away from the airport as soon the editor started ?

Quote
File ".\common\modelCustomization.py", line 623, in getModelForCouatlType
AssertionError

This is a different error, which says the same thing: the airport ICAO was null at that time, so the program stops because it's basically an impossible situation.

The logs are from 2 different parking positions. The 1st log is when I tried to customize J12 and the 2nd log is from position J13.

The joystick doesn't get touched. But in the past at different airports, I have accidentally pushed the joystick all the way forward reaching for the keyboard behind it and it moved the aircraft a very long way, but since that only happens after the GSX editor is open, I can just push F4 and it will snap back into the correct position without causing and problems. This isn't a joystick issue and I am able to get the error messages immediately on sim load up at J12 or J13 in the Aerosoft CRJ-900 when I try to customize the position in GSX.

Strange that it would see no airport after customizing 18 other positions before it started and it is consistently with the same positions that I get the errors. But also, I do NOT get the errors if I am in the default F-22 aircraft. Perhaps its something with the aircraft? But then why start throwing errors 18 positions later?

I just ran the Live Update again and it downloaded the exact same 2 files listed in the 2nd post.

Tested using PMDG 737-800. Selecting the PMDG 737 from the start screen and loading it into LFPG J12 - Does not even load the sim without giving this error: http://prntscr.com/oppr7i with this log:

couatl v3.2 (build 4244)
panic log started on Wed Aug  7 12:23:51 2019

problem raised by addon <unknown>
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File ".\GSX\assistanceServices\__init__.py", line 1857, in checkProgressiveRefueling

{'Airport': 'LFPG', 'User Pos': (49.00327274245239, 2.5999704377130946, 121.887 m, 2.40605 m, 85.50000199947723)}

This looks like GSX is seeing a different problem this time, but the result is that I cannot load the airport in the PMDG 737 addon aircraft, and I cannot customize more than a few positions in the CRJ-900 before I get an error.

It is mentioning File ".\GSX\assistanceServices\__init__.py" which is also a file that Live Update keeps downloading. We can rule out a conflict with the aircraft since it happens in 2 different aircraft. However, recall that this does NOT happen if the default F-22 aircraft is loaded into the same position. Seems to only be giving errors using addon aircraft.

I made a video of the errors and when I am getting them ... this time, I did have issues with the default F-22 - after I selected to customize the position and went to change views to the spot plane view, it put my aircraft VERY far away from LFPG, out into the ocean. I've never seen it do that before. And this is the first time I was getting any errors with the default aircraft also.

Video can be found here:

I cannot reproduce your problem. Is this happening on that airport only ?

Testing now. Stand-by. Ran Live Update again and no new files downloaded this time.

MMQT gate G14 and gate G7 (default airport with no addon AFCAD) in Aerosoft CRJ-900 - no issues

Closed P3D fully

LFPG gate B200 (addon AFCAD attached in post 1) in Aerosoft CRJ-900 - no issues

After customizing B200, in the GSX editor window, moved to gate J12 - Allowed me to move the parking position but when I hit F4 to move to the parking system type I get the error again with the below log:

It does seem it may be with only this airport, however I've only tested on 1 other airport that was significantly smaller than LFPG so I cannot be 100% sure.

I had the same problem. After the August 5 upgrade I can no longer use the refuelling with the aircrafts as PMDG, when the refueling truck arrives in the position to fuel the GSX crash. With standard FSX aircraft this does not happen. This problem happens in every airport I've tested. Is there a possibility of reversing the upgrade? Everything worked perfectly before.

I had the same problem. After the August 5 upgrade I can no longer use the refuelling

Already discussed in other threads, already fixed in the current Live Update.

I'm going to see if I can find another LFPG AFCAD and see if the problem is still there. I checked the parking position attributes for the current AFCAD for the positions in question and could not find any thing wrong with them. But I need to rule out if the issue is caused by the current AFCAD.

I bought T2G LFPG and downloading it now. While that's downloading, I thought I'd try a bit more to see if I could find the problem with the current AFCAD.

I noticed that the Ground Stand will spawn when GSX and P3D is first loaded, but then while I was adjusting the parking position, it disappears and that is causing the errors. GSX is trying to find the ground stand that is supposed to be there but for some reason disappeared. I'll try using a different ground stand type. The current type I use is the Safedock T2S-24 Ground Stand.

It does the same with a different model ground stand also.

Here is a video of what is happening. Pay attention to the ground stand in each parking position.

Installed T2G LFPG and tested again at spot J12, but no errors this time. Seems the issue is with the AFCAD, but what in the AFCAD would cause the problems?

I stand corrected. I was able to customize 2 positions in Taxi2Gate LFPG and then I got the error yet again. Here is the log this time:

No way it can be an AFCAD issue at this point. All these errors started only after updating with Live Update for the latest update. On August 6, 2019 before updating I was able to customize 2 full airports using 6 different aircraft and not a single issue. Now, I can't get more than a handfull of positions edited before GSX crashes, if it will even get that far.

I can't even get GSX to load at any LFPG AFCAD now. I tried restarting P3D and restarting Couatl and rebuilding but the "Customize airport positions" menu does not show up, and If I try to open the GSX menu, it says there is no valid AFCAD.

I don't know what else to test here. I've been at this for over 8 hours and gotten no where.

Last time I had a major problem with GSX it was because something wasn't set correctly in the coding for GSX for Windows 7 ... are we sure that isn't the case again this time?

I'm not the only one with the issues, but I can assure you that the problem has not been corrected with the last pushes on the Live Update. It is still very much there and it is preventing me from being able to use the product at all at LFPG airport.

I activated full logging to post the full log here when I get the errors, but now I can't even get GSX to load at LFPG so i can't get you that log.

I found a way to get GSX to at least load the editor at LFPG ... it will NOT load if I select gate J18 when starting up P3D (I have the options to edit aircraft, disable, restart, etc, but the "Customize Airport Positions" option is not there) and no GSX items are spawned, however it WILL load if I first load the sim to a different airport (I loaded into LEVX because that was the last airport I customized prior to updating GSX and it worked without any issues), then move the aircraft to LFPG in P3D Navigation / Go to airport. I first tried gate A8 and GSX allowed me to do a full customization of this spot. But when I tell GSX to go to gate J18 to customize it, I immediately get the error. This time I was able to get the FULL log and I have it attached. It really does seem to me that GSX is trying to call an object that is not there for some reason or another. I say this because of the last few lines in the log -

"Boost.Python.ArgumentError: Python argument types in
    LVariable.setValue(LVariable, NoneType)
did not match C++ signature:
    setValue(class LVariable {lvalue}, double value)"

In every log I have posted, I am always seeing the "NoneType" come up. Once I get the error, restarting Couatl does nothing other than tell me there is no vaild AFCAD file, but clearly there is because it literally was just using it.

I did a full uninstall and reinstall of GSX and it has not solved this issue. I have tried 3 different LFPG AFCAD files from 3 different sources and all 3 result in the same errors in the same area of the airport. How is it I can customize A8 without any issues but J18 doesn't even let me open GSX? Prior to uninstall and reinstall, I checked for 4 hours and no new files were being downloaded from the update tool.

Also, I LOVE how the OP attached AFCAD and INI files were downloaded 14 times, but yet not a SINGLE person can say if they are having the same issues using the same files

* LFPG_ADEP4_SD.bgl (281.12 KB - downloaded 14 times.)
* lfpg-cozpc6.ini (2.04 KB - downloaded 14 times.)

Thanks a lot community!!

Try the Live Update again, it should fix the error you posted in the last log.
