P3D Version 4 - bglmanx64 error after exiting sim
JRBarrett:
I have P3D Version 4, and several updated FSDT and Flightbeam airports installed, as well as GSX.
All of the airports, and GSX work fine - no major issues with graphics or performance.
However, when I exit P3D, if, (and only if), I am parked at one of the airports controlled by couatl, several seconds after the sim closes, I will always get a Windows error message "Prepar3D has stopped working..." with bglmanx as the offending DLL. (This is Windows 7 64 Home Premium)
The test of the message is:

As long as I am not at a couatl-enabled airport when exiting the sim, I do not get the error.
I have run the Live Update program several times, (in fact I normally run it first thing each day that I plan to use P3D), but it has not prevented this particular problem.

Jim,
I had a similar problem in P3Dv3.4, here's the thread regarding working out the solution: http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,15933.15.html
It solved that particular problem with the bglmanx.dll. Apparently an installer of one of the airports is still adding it to the dll.xml.
Best wishes,
Glenn

Thanks Glenn, I'll check that!

That's not the case.
None of our installers ever used the DLL.XML file in P3D V4. The only possible reason why a bglmanx64.dll is listed in the DLL.XML is either it was added manually by the user, or some kind of rogue program like a Migration Tool, has fooled the installers into believing the sim was a different version.
JRBarrett:
There is no listing in either DLL.XML, as would be expected, since this is a new P3DV4 installation, and I used all the new V4-compatible installers for my FSDT and Flightbeam airports.
The only entries in the two DLL.XML files are for the PMDG aircraft, and ASP4. I will inactivate those one at a time to see if it makes a difference.
I do know that the P3D process does not close immediately after exiting the sim and returning to the Windows desktop. It keeps running in the background for a few moments - I presume it is doing some post-run housekeeping tasks.
If I watch the active processes in Microsoft Process Explorer, when P3D is active, I see three other processes attached to P3D.exe: couatl, sode, and as_bstp, which is part of Active Sky.
In a normal exit from P3D, the couatl and sode processes disappear first, then after about 5 seconds, the P3D.exe process exits. The last to go is as_bstp (which appears to be running under cmd.exe), which ends once P3D.exe is done.
I see no real difference when exiting P3D when parked at a FSDT airport. The couatl and sode processes end first as usual. It is at the point where P3D.exe itself would normally stop running that the error message pops up relating to bglmanx64_unloaded. Until I acknowledge the error, P3D.exe keeps running. As soon as I acknowledge the error, P3D.exe finally exits, followed by as_btsp
