FA-18 with no working flaps
« on: January 23, 2009, 12:44:19 am »
Ok I am a newcomer

But F7 key to open flaps and F6 key to close flaps are not working.
It is a most standard keys set up for open and close flaps since
FS2002, FS2004 and FSX !!!!!.

Why it is not working with the FSX FA-18 Acceleration Pack and
the CaptainSim XLoad FA18D ???

You bet have a good explanation for me about that.

You bet have a good explanation for me about that.

Of course we have...

The F/A-18 has automatic flap handling, you control your desired maximum extension logic, but the actual flaps operation is handled automatically, depending on speed, angle of attack, etc.

However, this is the simplified explanation. If you want the long and complex explanation, it has been discussed here:

Virtuali...

A quick question or two.  Do you know how to alter the auto-flaps logic for the fsx f-18?  Meaning, if the flaps are set to full, and during landing below 165 kias, I can get trailing edge 45 deg/leading edge 33 deg?

The reason I ask is that I remember someone, ?, talking about how the cessna also works in an auto-flaps as well, and maybe MS set this up the same for all fsx planes?  I could be wrong...?

Also, what are the current stats for the auto-flaps logic?  What speed decelerating do the half flaps go to their max extension?  Same for full flaps logic?

Thanks

Here's a quickie for the realism minded amongst you simmers out there... then I'm off to bed.

Did you know that the F-18 takes off with FULL FLAPS?  I was a division officer on the G-Dub for a year and of my many times watching flight ops, I NEVER picked up on this til I was watching Youtube tonite.  First I saw the SuperBugs doing it, then sure enough, looking at the Hornets, they were doing it too.  Typed that into google and I guess it helps them rotate quicker and gives better low speed response.

Just a little something that makes you go "hmmm..."
