Hardware setup for good framerates
« on: December 23, 2008, 04:30:16 am »
Does anybody have a way to get better than 10-15 fps out of FSX? I have an Intel 2.4GHz qCore with 6GB PC800 Ram on a Vista64 system. The hard drive is SATA 3.0GByte and the video subsystemis NVidia 9400 PCIe2.0. The framerate isn't much better than my 2core laptop with Intel onboard graphics. The desktop system runs dX10 and the laptop runs dX9.0c over WinXP Pro. Sliders on both systems are mid to low res and get 15-30 depending on scenery (mainly). I know that this is an issue for MSFS/ACES but I hoped somebody here has a tweak that will improve fps and the jaggies.

you've got a good rig, it may be your scenery settings. auto-gen and lens flare will kill any computer short of hal. or it may be how you're running the game. try this: if you are running in windowed mode, try full screen, and visa-versa. (alt-enter). that works for some.
