Orbx South California conflicting with KLAS ? **SOLVED**
« on: January 22, 2016, 08:34:49 pm »
Hi,

I've got the FsDreamTeam KLAS installed into P3D V3.1 along with Orbx Southern California scenery that they recently released. The FSDT KLAS is above the Orbx SoCal in my scenery library but where I load up the sim at KLAS the airport is considerably lower than the surrounding scenery. This does not happen when I uninstall the FSDT KLAS so there much be an altitude conflict between the Orbx SoCal scenery and FSDT KLAS. Is this an issue with the FSDT scenery or Orbx's SoCal scenery?

Many thanks for any help with this.

Seeing how FTX SCA is newer, they would have prepared for such issues. Have you checked the ORBX forum for their compatibility fix?

Yes I have found the relevant thread on the Orbx forums. Thank you, didn't know whether it was an issue with FSDT or Orbx as I've never run into an issue like this before.

No permission to view the link. Apparently you must be registered there to even read their forum?  ???

It's not that rare, I think the idea behind that is to keep the forums and support topics to legit customers. Lots of good assistance over there though.

Well, I followed Orbx thread on how to make the scenery compatible with KLAS, and I'm having issues with elevations, missing buildings, and brushes and trees on the tarmac. I don't care for the terrible frame rates I'm getting with Orbx SCA either. I'm about to just remove it from my computer and go back to flying KLAS the old way.

I have the same issue. Followed the procedures and now there is no terminal. It's almost like FSDT KLAS is not active.

You mean there WAS a terminal *before* you did the Orbx-suggested procedure, but it's now gone ? Then the only possible explanation is that either the procedure is not correct, or you haven't followed it correctly.

If, instead, the terminal wasn't there to begin with, it's another entirely different issues.

If you have the Addon Manager and the Couatl menus visible, and KLAS is installed, then everything is correct on our side of the things.

And of course, KLAS must be on an higher layer on the scenery library than any other scenery that can potentially conflict with it, which is why the installer will place it on the top.

I have the same issue.  Airport is floating above land mass.  I re-downloaded the stand alone manager today.  I moved the FSDT KLAS to top of Scenery Library.  I still have the ORBX fixes in place within sceneries.

I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago in a thread I started when I asked if anything had been done to change KLAS.  It was working perfectly with SCA up until that time.

Why you waste time reinstalling FSDT stuff, when the problem is clearly caused by OrbX ??

KLAS hasn't been updated in years. The installer might, in order to support new folder locations like those needed by Steam, P3D V3, but the actual *scenery* files, haven't been changed since 2009, with the exception of very minor tweaks to the AFCAD, that won't surely affect the terrain elevation.

Virtuali, I appreciate your response.  I am not placing blame anywhere.  Just making it known that the problem exists.  I would suspect that most of us consumers don't know what is causing the issues because of all the changes that are happening within the flight sim community.  We purchase top of the line releases from P3D, ORBX, FSDT, Active Sky etc. and others but with every change that is made within each of the products new issues arise that affect our flight sim experience.

I am remaining patient as the changes happen with the belief that our flight sim hobby is going to be made better because of the work of these fine developers.

I am an avid FSDT customer and will continue to be.  KMEM is outstanding and I can't wait for the KLAS updates to happen.

Yes, it exists, and there are discussions and solution about this on the OrbX forum. Several users here confirmed the problem is fixed by following the suggestion on OrbX forum and, since KLAS hasn't been updated recently, I don't see why it couldn't work on your system.

Unless, there's another scenery you have that we never heard of, that might be even unrelated to OrbX, that is causing a similar problem.

I was able to fix the problem via the ORBX fix.  What I hadn't known was that the "patch" fix that I had put into scenery some time ago had been removed somehow.  Possibly by the product itself when changing regions.  All of the other fixes had remained which is what had me so confused.  I had already done everything and it had worked.

Sorry for frustration I may have caused.  It is hard to keep up with all the changes in all the products and the effects they have on each other.
