Airport cache regeneration completed with FAILURE **SOLVED**
« on: September 10, 2015, 01:04:23 am »
Hello all..

I recently installed Flight Simulator SE and for some reason every time I start at a airport I get an Airport cache regeneration failure. At that point GSX does not work. Is there a reason this happening? If how do I go about solving this issue.

Not sure what log file I need to display in order for everyone to see what my problem may be..

Thanks

Please disregard this post, I have solved the problem.

What I did is went into C:\ProgramData\Virtuali\Couatl\fsxse and deleted the files.bin file. Then I reloaded fsx and gsx is working as it should.. :)

I would be still interested getting your Log file, because we are still trying to understand why this happens to some users.

This is happening to me after I updated GSX to the current version- I have FSX sp2. I deleted the suggested file but the regeneration still failed after 82%.

I could send you the log if you could explain how.

I could send you the log if you could explain how.

Enable logging from the Troubleshooting section of the GSX Settings menu. The log file will be created into %APPDATA%\Virtuali

I have repeated the delete of files.bin and GSX has now fully loaded successfully.

I have again got the FAILURE in 61 seconds error message when I load FSX. I have enabled the log in troubleshooting- how can I send this to you?

First, be sure you are really running the latest version of Couatl.exe, because this problem should have been fixed in the current version.

Reinstall GSX now, so you'll get the current Couatl.exe and try again.

GSX works very well and we fix all reported issues as soon as they are reported, assuming those are GSX issues to begin with ( 99% of the time is other software, like antivirus interference ) but when we release a fix, in order for that to work, users must install it, see the last post, which was made by somebody using an outdated version.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the whole Addon Manager folder

- Run the FSDT Live Update again

Randomly have this now, every airport I go to it says "could not find valid afcad at this location" and I cannot enable logging because the window does not close when I press enable log and click apply then ok. It stays open. I will run the live update again.

You don't get this "randomly".

There's a specific reason why the AFCAD data sometimes can't be found, and it's due to 3rd party sceneries having external configuration utilities to switch between different AFCAD configurations. Depending on what they to do switch, the change can or can't be detected automatically by GSX, and the solution is alwyas to "Restart and rebuild the airport cache".

Running the FSDT Live Update will also clear the airport cache so, if you are outside the sim already, it might be better to do that ( or manually remove the %PROGRAMDATA%\Virtuali folder ), but if you are inside the sim, it's best to Restart and the Rebuild the aiport cache from the Couatl menu.
