Majestic Dash Catering
« on: December 29, 2014, 08:48:57 pm »
Hi there,

I've just installed the new update 1.9.0.5 from fresh and I'm having issues with the catering trucks. Basically the truck and the van come, do their thing and leave but the menu always says "Catering requesting, on their way" (or something to that effect) and I can't seem to progress beyond that?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Dan

Strange, because I tried it now, and it work normally. Are you using a custom config for the Dash 8 ? If you are not sure, try to Reset the airplane configuration with the airplane config editor, then select "Restart Couatl".

If it happen again, please indicate the precise scenery, airport and gate used.

Hi Umberto,

Thanks for the reply. I haven't altered anything from the default and the restart Couatl didn't work...

So far I've tested at UK2000 Liverpool and Earth Simulations Guernsey and it was the same at both, so not sure its linked to a scenery....

Please indicate a reproducible case on a default scenery. Yes, it might be linked to a scenery, but I cannot confirm it or not, unless I can reproduce it on a default scenery too.

Hi Umberto,

Here is the same issue on a default scenery, Manchester EGCC. I have attached some screenshots to highlight the issue. These are in time order, so after the catering vehicles left, I requested boarding, but it was still waiting for catering to finish. I waited about 10 mins just to see but nothing changed unfortunately....

Thanks for the help

Please don't lose time taking screenshot, and don't post them in violation of our Screenshot posting rules:

I only needed ONE information, which is missing: which gate you used ? And the order of GSX operations you selected, if possible.

Sorry Umberto, I didn;t know about the screenshot policy! I thought it would help.

It was stand 8 at EGCC and i only pressed Shift-Ctrl-F12 to bring up the menu and then directly requested Catering Services.

Many Thanks

I tried it again, twice, at default EGCC Gate 8, starting directly with the catering, and I had two cases:

- Once, two minivan came, and went away without any problems.

- The 2nd time, a catering truck came in the back, and a minivan came in front, and even in this case they went away normally and I was able to call the pushback.

The difference is due to slightly changes in airplane height due to loading and inertia, because the rear door height is just about around the decision threshold between a minivan and a catering truck, but it worked in both cases.

Are you using a custom config for the airplane ? Try to Reset it to default.

Hi Umberto,

That's really strange, I'm not using any custom configs at all. In fact this afternoon i tried a complete reinstall but this still didn't fix the issue...

Can you suggest anything I could try to troubleshoot the issue?

Hi,

Since a long time ago, I have been experiencing the same issue as daan_vb has.
It is irrelevant if the MJCQ400 is at a gate in an default airport or in an third party airport. The gate itself is also irrelevant. The issue is always present.

I purchased the GSX FSX in September 2013 and this issue didn't exist for a while. It started to appear in December 2013 after a GSX update and a MJCQ400 update as well.

After this, I managed to "disable" the right front door - No door at this position, (the one where the mini van goes) and I had to setup the door 3, I cant remember how, (the one that opens with Shift E +3) in such a way that the mini van went to this door (around in the middle fuselage on the left side). It worked fine this way.
Sometime in May 2014 I stopped flying the MJCQ400 and  I didn't care about this issue anymore. Meanwhile, several GSX updates happened and I normally do a full installation for major updates, so I lost the door 3 setup I mentioned before.

Now I came back to the MJCQ400 and I realized that this "old dog" is still there. It would be great to figure out a final solution...

Happy New Year to All,

Takatanaka

P.S.: On the last GSX update I have the feeling that the pushback direction is inverted (i.e. If I chose nose right, it goes nose left and vice-versa). This happens in all positions, all airports. It may also be the case that I am doing something wrong... didn't explore it truly.

Thanks for the tips Takatanaka, I'll try that to see if I can get it working. At least that'll be something.

No, it's not. You said yourself you haven't used GSX in a while. A while ago, since some users seemed to be confused by the meaning of Left/Right ( GSX uses the same standard as FSX ), we change the WORDING, to indicate "Nose Right / Tail Left (LEFT)" and "Nose Left / Tail Right (RIGHT)" instead lf just "Left" or "Right", but it works exactly the same as it always did.

Hi Umberto,

I've been playing around with this today and I've discovered that its the little van that causes the issues. If I change the height, thus changing what catering van is sent, then it works OK.

Unfortunately the minimum height that can be set so the truck rather than the van is sent (1.87m) is slightly too high for the front door.... Is there anything that can be done, perhaps remove this door altogether? I have tried removing it in the config editor but that doesn't work so maybe something can be hardcoded perhaps?

Thanks

The little van causes the issue on YOUR system. As I've said in my previous reply:

I wasn't able to reproduce the problem either when there were two trucks or when there were one truck and a minivan.

But yes, I can understand that it is possible having a truck and a minivan MIGHT cause a problem under certain circumstances (I think it depends on timing, and timings are random), but removing front door altogether will surely eliminate any chances for this to be happening.

At least until we find a way to reliably reproduce it, and fix it in a more proper way.

Is there anything that can be done, perhaps remove this door altogether?

Either remove the door or set its height to 0.

Yes, it will surely work by removing the door. You must indicate "No door at this position" and NOT "Door without open/close checks", because the latter means there IS a door, but GSX won't check if it's open to start a service.

Your custom configuration always takes precedence over the internal customization, that's the whole point of having the feature in the first place.

I have tried removing the front door, set to "No door at this position", but the little white van still turns up and ruins my day  ;) He doesn't park by the front door when this is set, but under the wing.
