3.5° FLOLS glideslope

I was just thinking, with Lockheed Martin handling Prepar3d development (based off FSX/ESP), perhaps they could change the 4° FLOLS glideslope to a more proper 3.5° one.  They recently announced an updated pricing scheme ($199.00 for professional, $49.95 for academic and $9.95 a month for developer), which is starting to put it in the realm of the professional (read: not personal/consumer entertainment) simulation crowd.  If we jump ship to Prepar3d, maybe this would be a reasonable thing to ask the team?

I really doubt Prepar3d would give us the ability to change that angle, because the default FLOLS is hardcoded/embedded into  FSX and uses 'separation planes' technique, which itself doesn't allow any subsequent changes.
Want it done right? Do it yourself!

Orion, thanks for info about Prepar3D. It started out at $500 US as I recall; so now it is affordable. Good one.

Not give us the ability to change it, but I'm thinking if we migrate to Prepar3d, we can ask the Prepar3d team about it.

I bet they'll help you fix it since Prepare 3d is used for Mil sims. Lets all get Prepare 3D now. ;D

Great find. Thats F'n redonkulously good. At least those boys are working on taking the ESP (FSX) flight environment/engine to its limits and maybe beyond?

Was it me or was that Javier's carrier they were landing on? With the static position scenery on the flight deck (E-2s, cranes, crewmen, whatnot), it looks like it. Next thing you know, you'll see Serge's vLSO giving calls and a grade sheet for that pass.

Sludge:  Looks to be Prepar3d with the Acceleration Hornet ported, along with various photoscenery addons (MegaSceneryX Oahu, MegaSceneryEarth Grand Canyon) and Javier's Nimitz.

The FSX/ESP/Prepar3d engine are as is; A.C.E.S. Flight Simulation is just using Prepar3d as a platform for their simulator, according to the Lockheed Martin article.

If you're saying Prepar3d engine is "as is" just like FSX, I dont think so. There are definately changes made to the engine as far as now being able to work UNDERWATER, as well as the carrier being a FULL CARRIER rendering. If you notice the current carrier rendering, it stops at the waterline, whereas the carrier viewd underwater from the Lockheed video, you can see the keel.

No kidding. What would it take to get that setup. Id try to mod it with a physical HUD brackets or a Hornet cockpit setup and then all you'd have to do is get the 2D HUD up on that screen and you'd be setup really well.

The Prepar3d engine is based off of Flight Simulator, but development has been furthered since FSX, by Microsoft when working on ESP, and by Lockheed Martin when working on Prepar3d.  All I was saying is that, by the looks and sounds of it, A.C.E.S. Flight Simulation didn't modify Prepar3d other than adding a few FSX addons to it.

I dont think that's right, either... cause, along with the new underwater environment, Ive read the VRS Bug is unable to work in the Prepar3d environment. So they mustve done some things to the overall engine.

I purchased a Sim Mag that has a link and 1 months subscription for P3d and I installed it today. I am very impressed with the short time that I have spent on it. I copied Deano Cataneo's T45 and the Accel Hornet over and both worked well. The graphics are much better. The sim seems smoother and I added a photo scenery that I have for FSX and it looks much better with the inbuilt shading. Blurries seem to be much less, but, it has nowhere near the burden of all the add-ons that I have with FSX at the moment.

It's a pity it can't replace FSX with all FSX addons porting over:cry:
