Hissing sound problems - a solution?
« on: March 08, 2008, 06:44:26 pm »
I presume everyone gets these bizarre problems when flying the F18: wind noise suddenly becoming an exceptionally loud hiss in the cockpit, and the auto flaps sound turning into a very loud hiss too?

I found a quick way to fix them as they occur is just to tap the "Q" key to turn the sound off and on again.

The same solution works with the problem (on all FSX planes, and which I assume is a bug) of the radios suddenly going all hissy, which up till now I'd only got around by switching COM channels and retuning to the tower/ground/approach, etc.

That's a quick workaround - anyone know of a permanent fix?

I've never had that happen.

What are you using for sound, onboard ?
I'm using an X-Fi Extreme Gamer

Yeah, an onboard SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. I've never had sound problems with any other software (games or otherwise), but are you suspecting the problem may lie there?

Anyone else experienced these occasional sound problems with FSX, or is it just me folks?

(the rest of the box is a Dell Optiplex GX620 Pentium D 3.0gHz, 2gb ram, with an Nvidia 8600GTS card)
