KFLL - Textue loading delays
« on: April 03, 2011, 04:39:27 pm »
I notice that there seems to be a "delay" in textures at this airport loading on my system.  In addition, for example, when I open up the menu bar to enable or disable the joystick, there appears to be a 1-3 second delay before I can execute the command.  Is this normal?  Thank you for any information.

Kevin

PS - I disable antivirus to minimize any chance that something running in the background is causing this problem.   My system specs are below.

•   Windows XP Home Edition SP 3
•   Xjett 700 Series Mid-Tower ATX Chassis by Antec
•   3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (Factory O/C 3.6 GHz, 1600 MHz FSB)
•   Jetline (Zalman) Premium Air Cooler
•   Nvidia nForce 750i SLI Chipset
•   4GB DDR2 System Memory @1066 MHz
•   Radeon 5850 HD Video Card
•   750 Watt Corsair SLI Power Supply (750TX)
•   150GB VelociRaptor 10,000 RPM Performance Drive (HDD)
•   20X DVD/CD Burner with Lightscribe Technology

Nobody has ever reported this problem before. However, you can try using the Texture Resizer available in this forum, which will decrease memory requirements for textures, and should speed up loading.

The issue is, the scenery has been made for FSX and then back-ported to FS9, and FS9 can't load textures in the background using multithreading and additional cores so, it contains an amount of textures that FSX can handle without any issues on modern cpu, but FS9 can't, even if you *have* a modern cpu. So, the available textures resizer can help.

Try with the 1.2.5 Update we released today, it should improve textures loading times.
