GSX-P3Dv4 Custom Textures
« on: June 01, 2025, 02:27:27 pm »
Hello Support Team,

I expressed my regret a long time ago that creating your own catering, handling, and jetway logos
is no longer possible in your current version of P3Dv4.
I'm just surprised by the persistence of various folder structures that were once required for this.
The OPERATORS menu for logo generation in the Handling and Catering dialog is still there; it generates a DDS file in
Virtuali/GSX/texture/handling-catering-jetway-logo, but no entry in the rules_handling cfg file.

Nothing from these directories is copied.
The folders in the main directory are deleted before each update.

Up until your last update, I manually transferred these custom textures
to the main directories.
After your last update, this method no longer works.
When I perform the update with full_Installer, I have an empty list
in the Operators directory.

You once implemented this option in GSX and have since deleted it without comment.
Why did you do that?

These aren't the only dead projects still lurking in your software. Clean up and remove these witnesses
to unfinished projects.

Firetruck?, Windsock?, Plates?,
Request Lavratory service (coming soon),
Request Water service (coming soon)
rules-firetruck?, rules passengerbus?, rules followme?

Delete this one and then add it when it's DONE!
Finally create an up-to-date FSDT-GSX-Manual.pdf; your customers will thank you.

I would be very happy if a solution could be found for the "custom textures."
I create the files:
handling/texture.XX/GSX_logo_4x1.dds - thumbnails/catering-handling/XX.png
and enter the details in the various rules.cfg files myself.
However, these must then be applied when P3D is restarted!

Best regards
P3Dv4

They are not "dead" of course, since about 90% of the code is shared between P3D and MSFS, those files are there to be used by the MSFS version.

Of course, we haven't removed anything intentionally from the P3D version but, you must understand that most of the testing is done using MSFS, because P3D users are now like less than 5% of the user base, and most of them use P3D 5, so you are using an outdated version of a sim used by a very small minority, and our finite support and testing time must be allocated to where the most users are.

Hello Support,

What options do I have for GSX-P3Dv4?
I'm currently out of operators!
How can I implement my data in GSX?

There's definitely a way.
Please let me know what data I need to modify.

Regards
P3Dv4

Dear FSDT Support,

If the team has decided to discontinue support for the P3D version, then the latest version should still be functional!
I don't know which changes in the last update caused the problems with the P3D version,
but let's take a step back to the previous version for our simulator.

As before, this allows the implementation of custom textures in the "Addon Manager/texture" folder.
A generator for these PNG and DDS textures is not necessary.
The person who creates these textures doesn't need a generator here.
These added textures then only need to be added to the directory when restarting the coutl engine.

If you can do that, then complete GSX for P3D.
Give this farewell gift to those who are still using the old simulator so they can continue to use it with GSX for a while.
All P3D customers will thank you!
