Windows 7 problems **NOT SUPPORTED**
« on: May 10, 2025, 11:15:03 pm »
Good morning everyone.

Yesterday since I deleted the horrible Qualitywings 757 from my Simulator, it deleted the 3 or 4 Bglmanx.dll archives wich where inside the fsx directory. I tried reinstalling the GSX and nothing happens. Today  I reinstall all mi FSX since 0, again installed GSX and not luck (not bglmanx.dll archives inside the FSX directory), when i Try to enter to the FSX this show me this error ( I am attaching the picture) and Coutal doesn´t start.

Please your help, I am using GSX + LVL2 expansion in FSX - WIN7

Regards.
ERICK.

I think Win7 is your issue. It's been EOS for over five years now and IIRC FSDT no longer supports it.

Cheers

Hi, this is my first post and I hope this topic can be useful to other simulation enthusiasts.
On my computer (Windows 7) I have installed FSX (+Accelleration) and the GSX Ground Services addon.
Now when FSX is starting, the following warning appears:
"The procedure entry point GetErrorInfo could not be found in the dynamic link library api-ms-win-downlevel-ole32-l1-1-0.dll".
As a result, GSX is no longer available in FSX and all the previous GSX settings (e.g. jetways, vehicles, etc.) that I have made at many airports no longer appear.
I would like to point out that up until now GSX (and related updates) has always worked in FSX with no problem.
Could someone help me find a solution?
Many thanks

Hi, I am having the same problem as you with a similar error message appearing. When I open the FSDT Installer, my 20 FSDT addon airport packs and GSX no longer appear on there and are no longer functioning in the sim.
Like you I am using Win7 and FSX-A and until now all my FSDT products have been functioning perfectly.
I suspect this is going to be a Windows 7 issue.

Hi Bill, thanks for your post.
It is possible that the problem is attributable to Win 7.
However, until the date of my first post, everything was proceeding perfectly without problems (the periodic updates of GSX carried out until then never created any inconvenience).
The problem arose suddenly and BEFORE proceeding to install the latest update available at that date.
So the problem should not even depend on the most recent GSX update.
It would be useful to have support from the FSDT staff in this Forum. Will it be possible?

Hi Robert, yes the problem also occurred with me before I attempted to install the latest update - just seemed to appear out of the blue when I opened the FSDT Installer and found it empty!
I've just noticed there are a lot of recent threads on this same problem over on the GSX Support FSX/P3D forum and it seems to be affecting people with more recent versions of Windows too as well as some versions of P3D, so I'm sure something will come from FSDT soon as they are generally pretty good about responding issues that arise.

Hi Bill, hopefully the problem will be solved with a future version of the update!
Unlike your case my problem is revealed during the process of opening FSX with the appearance of a Warning window that reports the message I reported in my first post.
Have a good flight!
Robert

I remind you Windows 7 went completely out of support years ago, this is all the info we have about it:

https://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,27687.0.html

But as explained there, that info might become outdated at any time, because any Windows update we must use to keep our products working in currently supported OS and their updates, might break compatibility with Windows 7 at any time.

Hi Robert,
Are you still getting that warning? Although the FSDT Installer now appears to be functioning correctly since the beta channel issue was corrected a couple of days ago  and GSX and all my airport addons are present in the Installer and appear to be active, when I start FSX I still get the warning -

"Couatl.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point GetErrorInfo could not be found in the dynamic link library api-ms-win-downlevel-ole32-l1-1-0.dll"

- and neither GSX nor my FSDT airports are active in the sim although everything else is working perfectly.

I wonder if anyone can help to resolve this ongoing issue?
Many thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill
After Virtuali's post on May 22, 2025, I think that the hopes of their help are minimal.
Therefore, I tried to install GSX using the original installation executable file (gsx_fsx_setup.exe downloaded immediately after purchase) taking care to inhibit the internet connection so that the installation procedure did not perform the automatic update (otherwise I would have had the updated version that caused the problems).
I also reinstalled the SODE program because initially the Jetways were visible but without animation.
Opened FSX, the GSX options are now available again and the system seems stable.
I am currently studying how to reuse the original ".ini" files (stored in C:\Users|User\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\GSX ) that contain the data customized with GSX in the airports modified with the aim of reusing all the changes made so far.
Obviously this procedure does not allow you to benefit from subsequent updates but it seems to be the only solution.
Have a nice day
Robert

Thanks for that information Robert!
I will follow what you have suggested and see if I can get things functioning again.
I am not really bothered about installing updates as I am very happy with GSX and my addon FSDT airports as they are. It’s just a pity that FSDT will not allow those of us still using legitimately purchased FSDT products in FSX on Windows 7 to continue to enjoy them without the need to apply frequent updates which may or may not be compatible with that platform. It’s all the more frustrating as I have a couple of hundred other payware addon airports in FSX and all, except those from FSDT, continue to function smoothly without any issues.
I am however sadly inclined to share your pessimistic view of possible future help from FSDT for those of us still using Win7.
All the best,
Bill

Nobody forces you to updates airports that hasn't been updated in years anyway. The Sticky post with info on Windows 7 now dates 3 years:

https://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,27687.0.html

It should be clear we wouldn't have offered any further support for Windows 7, and you can't expect this would be any different 3 years later. So, you had 3 years of time to:

- Decide to switch to Windows 10/11

- Make a backup of your previously working installation and don't update.

But the last one is not a very robust situation: supposed your hardware breaks or you must reformat. Even assuming you had a full backup, it might be possible your old installation might not be able to reactivate, because even the software on the activation server (handled by QLM/Soraco, so it's not our server) gets regular updates which CAN break compatibility with outdated clients. You might not notice this if you never need a reactivation, but it can happen.
