just some advice to those who are in need to request a new install file for their product - it has been my recent experience that the files are basically backed up in the add-on manager folder - so if you copy those files to your community folder in the case of MSFS, you should be in good shape, in the event you need to re-install MSFS 2020.  Was under the impression myself that if your community folder was toast , you'd have to ask for support etc -

Food for thought -

You shouldn't do that.

Our files are supposed to be in the Addon manager folder, that's their ACTUAL location, they are not a "backup". Our installer will create a LINK in the Community folder, so if you removed it for any reason, you should just re-create the link, for example using the free MSFS Addon Linker:

https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker

This, of course, assuming you LOST the FSDT installer, because you forgot to make a backup of it and you don't want to contact support to get another copy. Because the link is of course automatically created by the installer.

There are many reasons why the scenery must be kept in the Addon Manager\MSFS folder and are only LINKED with a shortcut in the Community folder, and are:

- You can safely delete the Community folder for any reason, and just re-create the shortcut if you need to reactivate the scenery, without even running the instraller

- If you need to disable the scenery for any reason, instead of removing and copy again files, you JUST delete or re-create the shortcut

- The most important one is the FSDT Live Updater ASSUMES the scenery to be updated is in its own Addon Manager\MSFS folder so, if you move/copy the files in the Community instead of using a shortcut, if we the FSDT Live Update updates a scenery, you'll still be stuck with the outdated version in the Community folder, because that's what the sim will see.

- If you copy files instead of creating a shortcut, you'll take DOUBLE the amount of disk space for no reason.
