« on: May 08, 2016, 12:56:54 pm »
Hello,

i just reinstalled v3 and reinstalled all my Flightbeam and FSDT airports. Unfortunately the airpors wont work anymore. Below you find the eventlog. As of Couatl i did a reinstall of the stand alone addon manager. No help :(

[quote author=Mickeyj link=topic=13477.msg99987#msg99987 date=1462705014i just reinstalled v3 and reinstalled all my Flightbeam and FSDT airports. Unfortunately the airpors wont work anymore. Below you find the eventlog. As of Couatl i did a reinstall of the stand alone addon manager. [/quote]

Your log shows the objects belonging to Flightbeam KPHX could not be created. This seems to indicate you uninstalled the scenery, and reinstalled the Addon Manager, but forgot to reinstall the scenery too, so its objects couldn't be found.

Hello Umberto,

thanks for your answer. The scenery was installed in the first place. Not only KPHX was installed, KDEN, KIAD, KIAH were installed as well. I got this error after installation of these sceneries. Also i´ll get a pop up see here I have now just KDEN installed as i uninstalled the rest of the scenes. I have GSX installed also.

Your screenshot doesn't indicate that KPHX has been installed. It only indicates you had an error report from Couat, which of course is exactly the same as in your Couat.LOG, which shows the objects for KPHX couldn't be found so, as I've said, from the error log, it seems that KPHX hasn't been reinstalled.

Another possible cause, which seems to be more unlikely, is there's something similar as this known bug in P3D that, after opening a MP session, Simconnect starts to act up and return with such errors:

http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6310&t=115449&p=120714&hilit=exception+UNRECOGNIZED_ID#p120714

In fact, the exceptions returns error codes that looks a bit suspect, with bogus return data, which is nothing like we sent to the sim. We found this sometimes happens when doing other things in P3D (not just opening an MP session), for example trying to use an Avatar repaint we made: as soon we select the new Avatar (it's just a repaint), Simconnect starts to throw similar error messages.

Assuming KPHX IS correctly reinstalled, what other 3rd party modules you have installed ? Another user reported similar errors with a 3rd party weather engine (ASN Next), and he later said they were fixed by switching to a different weather engine (Opus).

Hi,

i do have ASN but never had any problems running ASN along with FSDT or FB scenery. I also have the latest FSUIPC and ORBX objectflow. I disabled ASN in the exe and dll.xml. Didnt work for me.

I'm sorry but, other than confirming the problem doesn't normally happen, unless in very strange situations ( you are now the 2nd user reporting these errors with ASN, but you are the only one saying it doesn't disappear by disabling it ), like issues with Simconnect caused by either the MP session, or other 3rd party modules.

I simply think you hit a P3D bug similar to that, but we cannot reproduce it, unless doing what has been discussed in the other linked thread, opening an MP session, switching a different Avatar, using ASN, etc. This are just the KNOWN and confirmed causes. You might just have a found a new way to trigger the problem.

Again, this assumes you really have installed KPHX, which is the only other possible explanation of the errors related to the inability to create its objects.

But I'm now more inclined to think it's a generic "P3D bug that has caused Simconnect acting up", because you have some errors even BEFORE the first objects are being created.

For now i installed every single FSDT+FB scenery i have including GSX full version. I still get these error. I will try P3D v2.5 to see what happens.
Thank you very much  for your help.

Just for info i did some testing with v2.5. As expected no faults or errors. i also uninstalled all simconnect versions other than the ESP simconnect which was installed by P3Dv2.x/3.x.

Preivious versions ov v3 had no errors. They occured after reinstalling v3.1 from scratch in a different location than default but on the same drive and in the same "program files (x86)" app directory.

Last option to "hopefully" solve this errors is to un/reinstall v3.2 from scratch.

That seems to confirm the bug is something specific to P3D V3. From our point of view ( making standard Simconnect calls ), there's no difference between the two versions.

However, it must be something specific to your system because, in order to replicate it, I must do something specific, like calling a different Avatar or opening an MP session. Doesn't happen normally.

Hmmm, i dont use the Avatar nor do i fly MP. What i installed lately was VRS TacPAck and the Superbug. Maybe it is related to this add on. I will check that later.

I also opened up a thread over @ avsim concerning this error. Maybe someone has a different idea. First im gonna disable the TacPack. I´ll report back.

Many thanks for your support!

Hmmm, i dont use the Avatar nor do i fly MP.

These are just two examples that we KNOW of. There might be other possible reason we still don't or and/or, don't have the mean to test, because we don't have the affected addons.

An user reported it happened with ASN, and it was fixed by switching to Opus.

Hello Umberto,

i solved the problem. As you expected it had something to do with my system. I reinstalled v3.2 but this time in its default folder structure E:\program files(x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

Last night i tried nearly every solution i could find about Couatl and v3.x. Even clearing the dll and exe.xml didnt help. So my guess about the installation folder structure was right.

I had v3.1 installed E:\program files(x86)\Prepar3D v3 after an previous uninstall of v3.0. As all FSDT and FB sceneries were working in v3.0 in it default installation folder structure it must had something to do with the installation folder structure. Guess that the add on manager was a bit confused. If time permits you guys could try sometime to reproduce the error.

Guess that the add on manager was a bit confused. If time permits you guys could try sometime to reproduce the error.

The Addon Manager doesn't have anything to do with this. You are getting errors in the Couatl.log. If there was a problem with the installation folders, like registry entries pointing to the wrong version of the sim, the programs wouldn't even start.

Again, the error you are getting are happening inside our software. You should really try to understand how Simconnect works: it's a client-server application. What you are looking at, are NOT "Couatl errors", but messages FROM Simconnect, saying "you sent me the wrong parameter for this call", so we print them for troubleshooting.

The issue is, the parameter Simconnect says it's receiving from us, are NOT what we are sending! If we were really sending "wrong" parameters, it will happen everytime and we could have fixed it long ago, since from the diagnostic message it would be obvious for us what the error would be.

But instead, the value of the parameters looks entirely bogus, and are not what we sent to the sim, which seems to indicate that some kind of internal corruption happens in the sim, triggered by some conditions.

Yes, a mix-up of files from old and new versions of the sim might cause this.

Just as a check, are you SURE your API.DLL file is the correct one ? That's the file which interprets Simconnect calls...

Just to make it sure, i do not blame FSDT´s software. I do understand that simconnect sometime can do weird things. Most of all it runs on a MS windows based system. And i just wanted to offer a possible solution which in the end worked out at least for me. Im now happy that everything is in the right place and works as intended.

I did an upgrade from v3.1 to 3.2 few dys ago. Maybe the installer mwssed up things however there were no errors during patching. I cant tell you if the api.dll was the correct one. I asume yes as every other payware add ons were running fine. The test with v2.5 showed me AND prooved your theory that it had something to do with some simconnect/api.dll gizzmos.

Anyhow i also installed ASN again and the add on manager as well as FB KDEN works as intended and fluid. No errors anymore.

Many thanks for your support.
