What about new video 3D Card ???
« on: September 28, 2008, 07:32:43 pm »
Hi everybody,  ;) ;) ;)

I come today to you all to get advices about...what ?? well, installing KJFK has decided me to get a new video card !!

Not because JFK is not running OK (after some manipulations, yet !!), my eyes get the certitude that all my FS World could run better than with my original ATI X1300 512 MO !! Don't you think ?? For example, on KJFK, AI 100%, weather by ASV.6, and LvLD 767, I run about 13/15 FPS... but my Mip slider is only at 5/6, if I only move it to 7, or 8, I loose 2, 3, or 4 FPS, and coming down to 9 is simply impossible !!!

So...I heard about NVidia 8800 GT, or even 8900 GTX, i thought about it, but I also read on the forum that ATI 4870 was so great... the trouble is that this one is a little bit to expensive, my wife will shoot me during weeks !!!

So I wait for your advices, my configuration is this one :

Microsoft Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual Core 3800+
2,4 GHz, 2,00 Gb DDr RAM
3D Video Card ATI Radeon X1300 512 MO

See you

Salut Thibfly,

I recommend the Nvidia 8800GT 512MO, I have it installed on my PC and everything runs fine. Now for sure you can spend more money and get a much better card.  For the value/quality, I am happy with it.

As far as settings, I have every sliders to the right for FS9, Mipmap at 7, and all the graphics recommendations that FSDT have mentionned to make complex sceneries work. AI at 100% with all of WOAI installed (Commercial and Cargo).

I have some low framerates but nothing that is significant.  Your Air France screen shot made me buy ASV.6 recently, all seems to be running smoothly.

So to sum up, I recommend it but if your budget allows for a better card, I am sure others will recommend some that have performance.

Bon courage pour la suite,

David

Salut David,  ;) ;) ;)

OK, my choice would have gone to a 8800 GT or a 9800 GTX, but in all the tests I've read, it seems that 9800 GTX is far the same than the first one, so...and the shotgun of my wife doesn't permit me to spend more money...LOL

Wow ! it makes me proud !! well, yes, ASV 6 is really excellent, my config is : all the parameters are set on "Weather influence", all the textures in DXT-3... Flying in winter over Scandinavia or Canada is simply "Happy Feeling" !!

Bons vols à toi !
