Title: (UNOFFICIAL) What INTERNATIONAL Airport would you like to see FSDT make next?
Post by: CX 747-400 on January 12, 2013, 08:07:39 pm
************** THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL POLL... ********************
I noticed a lot of people are still looking at the old polls from 2 years ago. I thought I would give us a fresh start. The poll will be open for 21 days.

Being from South Africa, it has to be either FAOR or FACT.

RJBB Kansai International Airport. Japan is poorly represented in the FS world.

I voted for SYDNEY but there were some very good candidates!

Sydney is a favorite destination for me, and as far as I  know it has never been done by a quality developer! And it is a UTX coverage area(soon the whole world will be!).

But JBurg also needs to be done, with some serious regional surroundings, it's an important airport also never seen in quality production.

Voted for Sydney (YSSY) too...

Still amazes me, that such a big international airport haven't been made in a decent edition for either FS9 og FSX...
(And no - I don't think CLS's edition was very good)

Being an Australian, Sydney would finish the east coast major airports with Orbx's Melbourne & Brisbane International Airports.
There wouldnt be anyone better to do Sydney than FSDT, with Orbx not doing major airports anymore.

I vote for EHAM or EDDF since the current ones are FPS hogs and EDDF from AS is old. Dont care for the others on the list.

I keep a pretty detailed pin list in Google Earth of all the airports that are out there for FSX in good enough detail for me to operate flights to and there are many parts of the globe that hasn't got any payware loving at all.

I'm worlds away from down under and God knows there are tons of airports that i'd love to see done but i won't lie YSSY and NZAA needs some serious payware loving pronto! With Orbx, UTX like regions covering both NZ and AU having one of these airport in FSDT glory would sure complement each other.  With PMDG's 777 and 747s coming out soon nothing says good loving like taking an all black 777 out of KLAX for a long haul to NZAA. South Africa we hear you!

Regards!

Agreed...

Amsterdam EHAM would be very interesting as an FSDT development... So would EDDF actually...
Although you could hope that Aerosoft would update those (at least EDDF) in the near future?

PS - Just for future reference, Johannesburg is FAJS, not FAOR

The ICAO for Johannesburg was changed on 1/10/13 to FAOR. it was change to to represent the current name of the airport: OR Tambo International Airport.

I guess being a local boy I was always going to be one eyed to Sydney Airport...... ;D

For an FS9 user the old VOZ Sydney Airport still fills the void atm but a really good representation with the use of GSX (for FSX) or AES (for FS9) would just make that long haul flight that little bit more special LOL. (its only 9 and a bit hour flight from YSSY to PHNL ;))....

I bet if enough people vote on this UNOFFICIAL poll they will will take note of it. If they make anything off this poll, that would be great, and if they dont, make another designer will notice and start making one of them.

I don't understand why we are restricted to these choices only. Why not other considerations - it would not be subjective at this. There are quite a few international airports in North America. Choose whatever International airport you wish . . . . . . .

I think the overall post is for International airports outside North America, but By North America do you mean USA or Canada and Mexico Included in that post?

For USA there is already an unofficial post for people to chose airports from.
For Canada, FSdreamteam have done Vancouver for FSX and Jonathan Gabbert Vancouver for FS9 (Available at Avsim) while Fly Tampa have just completed Montreal for all Platforms.
While Mexico has great representation from Taxi2Gate, LatinVFR, Bajasim and Tropicalsim doing a variety of international airports in that region.

I would prefer EHAM / Amsterdam Schiphol. I've found out the beauty of CYVR's very little frame impact and i would love to have that kind of frames on EHAM with the great 3D modeling skills of FSDT in stead of the slow, rather ugly scenery from Aerosoft.

SYDNEY. Come on guys, VATSIM World Flight ended with Sydney this year, it was TERRIBLE with the current scenery we have available.

I would like FSDT to use its mojo to create Sydney -- I'll be the first on the block.

While I would love to see YSSY done I really think FlyTampa will do because of Martins intrest, but RJAA is way overdo especially for FSX.  Lastly PMDG'S 777 and new 747 are soon to release which means many amazing intl. flights from around the world because RJAA does see more 777's than YSSY, and heavies are superior in Japan! I love how people hijack this post and talk about domestic  ;)

No, that's stupid.

So there are like 15,000 airports that need to be 'redone' or 'did' in FSX. Why don't we let Virtuali CHOOSE NOW.

I personally would pay 500.00 for a sim done by FSDT FlyTamap ORBX and Aerosoft if they all work together! I know others wont so lets just take the airports we get as a blessing as Brittney agrees.

It's a bit sad, that FlyTampa has skipped a development/reboot of KSEA... But I understand George's reasons for doing it!

YSSY by FlyTampa seems very interesting...
I have actually voted for YSSY - but since FlyTampa looks like doing it, then FSDT should focus on something else?
As a US contender I've voted for KSEA - but that seems like a bad idea - for the reasons stated by George from FlyTampa on their forums...

EDIT:

Please do an eastern asian airport. Especially with the PMDG 777 coming out.

Narita (would be heaven!)
Manila (would be heaven too!)
Beijing
Shanghai
Kuala Lumpur
Kansai
Nagoya
Seoul (Even though Overland did one, FSDT's version would be 100x cooler)

A while back, I remember the old company Cloud9 was about to do VHHH but they cancelled it. Maybe you can continue the project?

Just a suggestion. I know your hands are full because of the KJFK update!

I would like to remind to everyone, this is not an FSDT poll, we aren't running any poll now.

We haven't 100% decided on the next airport, but the only thing it's sure, it will be a US airport, KIAH being the most likely candidate because it will be a good companion to KDFW for short 1hr flights but, as I've said, it's not a firm decision. The only sure thing, it will be a US airport.

Why is it that SEA will have low FPS?

Because Seattle has quite a bit of custom scenery (Like JFK) around the port area downtown. This is the main reason why Flytampa chose not to "Reboot" it's previous Seattle.

I sure would love (unofficially) to see TJSJ. Moderate sized airport great location for flying into other Caribbean islands and including Florida, Central, and South America. Most destinations within the area are 1 to 2 hour hop. Use the Concorde and now you connect KJFK, KDFW, and KORD in very reasonable time.
Other airports that would love to see:
*KATL major airport
*KIAH is up their on my (unofficially list)
*KPDX great in-between turbo prop or NGX hop form YVR-PDX-SFO-LAX-LAS-PHX
*KDEN another great in-between airport with a lot of unique and visual features. Challenging during summer flying with the density altitude impacting quality aircraft add-ons.
There are many but a few is a good wish list start. ;)

There's a very good Boston available from FlyTampa, it's not very smart for any developer to lose its time to create an airport that already exists, unless the existing version was really abysmal, and FlyTampa sceneries surely don't qualify as such.

If you ever decide to do an airport outside the US, i hope you consider the Kuala Lumpur International Airport -- its exciting :)

I don't see why you keep asking about things that were already answered in this thread, multiple times. We don't have any short/mid term plans to do any airport outside the US or possibly Europe.

There are many reasons for this, the first obvious one is the fact the combined market of US+Europe accounts for about 95% of sales, but also because documentation for airports outside these areas is far more sparse and of less quality.

And, even without taking into account new airports, we'll be quite busy updating our existing airports so, in addition for maybe a couple of new US airports (with the first being most likely KIAH, Houston Intercontinental Airport), we don't have to discuss any plans for other airports for the next 2 years, at least.

Tokyo is probably the best option, as nobody has made one yet and to have FSDreamTeam make the first one ever for FSX, not only is it the first but its of a super high standard! I'm sure everyone would buy it, hands down :D

No, FT does NOT sucks, please have some respect for them, they make absolute very nice scenery's.  But they should stop making for FS9, so they can go higher in textures like FSDT.

I would like to see YSSY as well too! Narita would be an option for simmers that like long haul flights as it would be a lone wolf scenery unless your into that! There is one airport not getting much rave but I think it is an important Asian Airport yes I am talking about RPLL Ninoy Aquino Intl in the Philippines. It connects to Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Macau why not? The airport has been mentioned before and has since fell off the map of developer interests. What do you guys think.

I do hope some developer does do Narita. It surely is a significant airport in the worldwide aviation industry in terms of hubs, and as the major international airport of Tokyo, it would be great to have.

All of the airports you requested except for RJBB have been done by other developers and RJBB is available as freeware at the Avsim library.
