Title: FS9 version 1.0.3 Update
Post by: virtuali on August 09, 2010, 03:28:59 pm
Here's a big update for KDFW for FS9:

It includes all the fixes previously posted on the forum, plus a new fix for the altitude/floating ai problem. But, the main advantage, is that we reworked ALL the ground textures, hopefully resulting in a much smoother flight WITHOUT having to use the Textures Resizer!

We are interested hearing your feedback and, in this case, don't run the Textures resizer, and see if the smoothness is improved with textures at their original size.

Download the Update HERE (http://www.mediafire.com/?vx6vyui7vj1h4vc)

It's an updater so, you need to have the original KDFW installed, better if you start from a fresh installation, not using any of the files previously found on the forum.

We'll update the Full installer as well very shortly so, if your Full installer already reads "1.0.3" version, you don't need to install the update.

1.0.3
Reduces seams between ground sections.

Umberto,

First of all, thank for the rapid support. I hope that Aerosoft will learn from you.

Secondly, let's say if I'm not happy with textures' smoothness with this update, can I still use texture resizer with 1.02 update?

Thanks
Dmitriy

Thanks for the great support, I already download the little patch, and for me it is much smoother! just a quick question is there going to be any update for the gate markings on the ground!?
and could there be and update for gate D40 which is very tight for the MD80 or 738 which are the planes that normally parked in there!
Thanks!!

Smoothness much much better, even without the resizer.bat.
However the AFCAD was wrong, so I changed back to ver from 8 of aug. Now it´s ok!

Noticing no gate numbers, and not the correct AFCAD with the latest patch installed.

Hi Umberto,

is it possible that you put an FSX-Afcad into the 1.02-update for FS9? It seems so....

BTW: Thanks for your FS9-version. I like it, great work.

Ciao,
Rainer.

Unfortunately the update did not correct the "floating AI" issue for me - (FS2004).

My prior testing showed that the problem was related to "incoming" aircraft only - they would land approx 2 feet above the ground and stay that way, even thru the next departure cycle.

Aircraft which were already at the gate sat normally and would taxi and depart normally.

The update only made things worse for me - now incoming aircraft land approx 2 feet UNDER the runway and stay that way.

I have worked with afcads and AI craft for several years and have never seen anything like this before (affecting one set of circumstances and not the other).

I did try (and then removed) all of the other afcads offerred in the forum with no success.

Hope you guys can sort it out as this is by far the most impressive enhancement of an airport I have seen.

PS - I have both FSX and FS2004 installed and with only minimal observations in FSX the issue did not arise for me.

What do you mean wrong ? I've checked it again, and it's just fine, is the one with corrected parking designators. It's not the *same* file that we posted earlier, but it has all the different parking designators.

EDIT:

Ok, found the problem, the source file was correct, but it was compiled with the FSX bglcomp instead of the FS9 one...just use the AFCAD posted in the forum earlier, we'll fix the updater.

Try to use the update, but then replace the AFCAD with the one that we posted yesterday on the forum, the one that correct parking assignments.

Not now, we would need to update the resizer as well but, I'm confident it might not really needed anymore, except for the lowest-end systems (like, for example, laptops with only 256MB VRAM)

Thanks for the update, guys. I'm kinda impressed with the new set of the textures. It's even faster than those from the initial installer after resizing.

Thanks again for your tremendous and talented work...and for the contibuing FS2004 support.

PS. Hope you will add gate numbers to the final installer.

They'll probably come in a future upgrade.

I installed the new update with a fresh install.

Thanks FSDreamTeam for fast fixes.

Just wanted to report that I am not seeing any default texture bleeding through and my AI Traffic doesn't seem to be floating on landings.
I flew the cesna around the airport until I seen an AI aircraft landing at 17L and followed it all the way in.
On the ground it wasn't floating, but landed a little long which I think it is something with the AI itself and not the scenery.

The only question I have, is there a way to adjust the alignment of aircraft at various parking and gates.  The aircraft is sitting to the left of the center line
at just a few cargo and gate parking.  I was trying to figure out a way to do this since I am just learning how to use the ADE.

Thanks, FSDreamTeam.

Quick question - have you already submitted the files to Oliver for AES?

No, because we were just too busy working on the updates, but we'll do that very soon.

I am very pleased to report that the update plus the Afcad your directed me to appears to have corrected the "floating AI" issue.  :)

Thanks again for a fantastic enhancement and for such great, and prompt support.

I am still experiencing "stutters" with the update. The experience is smoother, however there is a noticible choppiness. It's similar to original release and the texture re-sizer. Is this something I am going to have to live with? I have a E8500, 4GB 1066mHz, 8800GTS 512.

Try with the updated Textures resizer that has just been posted.

Sorry if this has been asked or mentioned already, but I'm a little behind the times right now, damn work is so busy right now.
Has the main installer been updated yet?
I find it easier to keep track of updates when the main installer is done, rather than a few files to do it all.

Keep up the good work guys, thanks.

Yes, as you can see at the top of the Forum. Ver. 1.0.2. The only thing you´ll have to do is also
d/l the AFCAD from yesterday (see top of Forum) and replace it, and everything would be solved.

I have no probs whatsoever now, and didn´t even used the resizer, which also is updated now (ver.1.0.2) to
the current installer (for those with low end vram)

No, if he downloads now, he doesn't need to do anything, the correct AFCAD is already included the the latest installer.

On my setup things improved quite a bit with this latest update. I was having some stuttering (even after running the texture re sizer) but this update seems to have corrected it. If possible (and when you have the time) it would be great if you could create the same type of updates for all the FS9 offerings. At any rate, thanks for offering this great add-on for FS9, and for the update!

I take it the texture update has something to do with alpha channels?

Either way, I'm downloading the updated installer now, should be able to check this weekend and do some trial runs.

Hey guys, how do I know if I have the most up to date version of KDFW?  I downloaded it Friday and activated it Sunday but no where that I can see does it say version 1.0.2.

You can check it in two different ways: before running it, by simply hovering the mouse over the setup exe file, the version number will be displayed, and as soon the installers starts, it will announce which version it's going to install.

And, you can check what version you currently *have* installed already, by going in the Windows Control Panel, then selecting the list of installed programs.

There ya go.  Well, thanks.  I was hoping that was going to solve the frame rate issues but I guess not.  Oh well, I still like having my hometown's major airport modeled on here finally.

LOL. Framerate issues. I was ready to buy....downloaded, installed, tried it as-was (no resizer) and got a wonderful 11fps. Applied the resixer, and gained a whopping 4 fps. So, this will not be one that I purchase. I will wait for the Hawaii islands pack. My PC simply can't handle it.

I installed the update and it solved the obvious problems. But is it possible to have the update without the reworked textures because I was happy with previous ones, now the quality is a little bit dropped

Thanks

Nothing has changed in the textures quality, we just removed unused alpha channels so, you shouldn't see any difference, since that channel was blank anyway.

I just wanted to drop in here and mention this - I just now downloaded and purchased this scenery version 1.0.3.  Everything performs great, just it seems I'm getting texture loading issues.  It looks like the scenery color is darker closer to the aircraft as you fly along, and in the distance, it fades to a lighter color.  It loads in square tiles as you pass over the scenery.

Does this have something to do with the recent update?

Edit -- I was browsing around the screenshot forum and came upon this thread, where you can see exactly what I'm talking about:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=3337.0

Also, during takeoff and landing, where those textures are changing, I'm seeing a brief blur off on the horizon.

That's just normal, the ground is made with two layers, and the overall color is a mixture of the base layer and the detail layer. Since the detail layer is not loaded when not needed for obvious performance reasons (you won't be able to see the details after a certain distance), it's normal the overall color would change.

Quote
It loads in square tiles as you pass over the scenery.

That's normal as well, since the scenery is made in tiles, like any other scenery out there that uses an higher resolution than FS9 would otherwise allow with photoreal scenery.

Thanks so much for the reply. I decided to redownload full installers for all of the five FSDT sceneries I own as I believe they are all out of date. I'm assuming the correct procedure is to uninstall each of them first and then reinstall, as apposed to just reinstalling over the current installation?
