Title: LSZH - Major changes coming. Will FSDT keep up?
Post by: newmanix on April 14, 2010, 11:34:20 pm
Virtuali,

Next year we will see a whole new LSZH. Major construction has began with the demolotion of Dock B. An all new Dock B will be created and the SkyMetro will be extended to it. There will also be an all new Airport city at the base of the hill where the cows graze near the airport entrance.

LSZH is very valuble to me. It was the very first airport I ever visited out of the US 12 years ago. Since then, I have been back over 30 times. As FSDT LSZH is the best airport scenery ever created (in my opinion) and FSDT's greatest selling product, I am really hoping both FS9 and FSX users can have the chance to enjoy the realworld changes in FS.

All construction is expected to be completed in 2011. If possible, let this topic become a petition, and a place to post any pictures or information anyone finds for us to help FSDT get these updates.

I know most developers dont really care to update their products, but LSZH really deserves it.

Virtuali, will it be possible?

The first picture shows where the new Airport City and Casino is being built. Highlighted in white.

The second picture is a render on the outside of the Airport City. (Dubed "The Circle at Zurich")

The third picture is a render of the inside of Airport City.

The fourth picture is the Dock B demolished. I had a lot of memories spotting and eating there.

The fifth picture is another render of Airport City.

The sixth picture is an exterior render of the all new Dock B

All construction is expected to be completed in 2011

From what I can gather using the Google translator (my German is almost nicht...) on your first link ( www.thecircle.ch ), the construction will *begin* in 2012 so, there's plenty of time. On the LSZH airport web site, they expect to finish demolition of Pier B by end of 2011.

No, Pier B will be complete by the end of 2011 for use of dedicated flights arriving for the Schengen confrence. Pier B is fully stripped and construction started. I will keep searching for updated photos.

Ok, but still the new big building named The Circle will begin construction in 2012 so, no point worrying about updating the airport, until everything is completed. No, we don't want to "upgrade" the scenery to model a construction site, only to have it updated again when everything we'll back to normal. By then, we'll probably be in 2013 already.

Does that mean you will *consider* updating it after its completion? ???

I asked Umberto a few months ago about doing a major JFK update and he said that they are working on KORD v2 and they are considering making updates to all of their airports to bring it up to KDFW (and to be KLAX) standards. They are not sure though because of MS Flight (I believe that is the main reason) and other secretive reasons

Doesn't make any sense to ask in early 2011 what we'll consider doing in 2013. When time will come, we'll see. Yes, MS Flight and how it will be established in the market has a lot to do with this and no, we can't discuss about it.

Like some others mentioned on the Aerosoft forum, I was surprised to see that Aerosoft is now working on a Mega Zurich, although I will not buy it since I already own the FSDT version, especially when I saw who the main developer was doing it. For whatever reason, it seems that particular fellows airports always get really bad FPS.

I would love an updated version but if it's the same dude that did the Antalya scenery forget it. That thing is like FSDT JFK on frames and it's a vary small airport...

I was in Zurich a few weeks ago for the WEF. Pier B is gone! Didn't get any pics of the construction site, but N113CS parked right in front of it:

Would be great to get an update... it's fantastic you got a reply...  :) Would love to see Geneva updated with the new monster of a hangar which has changed LSGG's entire skyline. I have so many pictures of it now... an update would be "easy".  ;D

Exactly, and that's why I wouldn't buy it. Nice or Nizza was an FPS killer on my rig for such a small airport and after reading all the complaints about Orly there is no way I would every consider buying it. I don't know what it is that Peter does in his sceneries, but it seems that optimizing them for FPS isn't one of his objectives. Now anytime I see his name in the credits of any new Aerosoft airports, I usually wont even consider buying it.

Of note I was able to eventually get Nice working fairly well on my rig, but it took a lot of time converting some of the textures to DXT1 and adding mips, etc. Too much work in my opinion and it ended up almost being a do it yourself project.

I would bet money that when he finihses Zurich you will be luck to get 20 FPS in the FSX version, in a plane like the LDS 767 or PMDG 747, where as the FSDT version delivers FPS in the high 20's to low 30's for me using those 2 planes. In fact I would almost like to buy it just to see how bad it performs vs. the FSDT version.

I hope the new terminal will be finished? I do not like me when there a scene there to work.
This is my own opinion you are not now compelled to share my opinion.
I hope he will have pictures of the last days

Umberto, please, I implore you for the update of LSZH. The Aerosoft quality is nowhere near yours but they have the new Dock update. I would pay for an FSDT update of LSZH. Otherwise I fear I will have to buy theirs for FS9...

I wonder whats going on with their forum lately. Everytime I try to access topics from my computer it locks up, or if it does load all the responses after the initial post dont display correctly, but if I access it from my phone it works fine. I tried the usual, clearing temp internet files and cache, but still wont work right.

Just beware their version will probably get bad FPS like Peters other sceneries.

Zurich is still one of our best selling products, an update it's very likely.

Quite frankly, I am astonished that Aerosoft is doing a Zurich... First of all fsdt's looks better and (as well all have found out the hard way) probably runs way better. I don't see how they expect to put up a fight against the dreamteam.  ;)

Sure, they have tons of really nice (but hard on frames) European stuff, but personally I just think it's dumb of them to try to compete over LSZH when fsdt's looks nicer.

They are doing it because an outside client wants it. So it's an internal development that will also be sold to customers. If  GAP or even Simwings did it I'd consider but it's just best for us all to hold out for the FSDT update :) I must say, I am not at all impressed with the Aerosoft LSZH. You'd think it make a better compare to the 4 year old LSZH but nope...

Hey Umberto, I know you said an update was "...very likely..." but this guy is saying:

* FSDT has already announced that they will rework their airport soon...

I didn't see this was definitive here in the forum. Did you actually confirm you are updating LSZH??

I've confirmed it here:

We'll have more than one update for Zurich, one in the next days, the next one after KLAX is released, and then a third one...
