Title: FSDT Airports with FSX Steam Edition
Post by: virtuali on December 19, 2014, 02:28:42 am
I'm happy to report that ALL installers from FSDT have been updated to support FSX Steam Edition, both when installed alone, and in combination with an existing FSX installation.

There's no reactivation involved, just re-download all the installers you need from our site.

I cannot use the KFLL installer in FSX.  KFLL installer asks for FSX directory, and then says FSX SE needs to be installed.  I don't use SE.

i am having the same problem as well, and only have the steam version installed,errors when i install fsdreamteam airports and flightbeam, then the ones that do install, i go to the airport and the sim freezes and crashes fsx

My airports are all gone from FSX, couatl engine is running, reinstall didn't help. Latest Addon Manager installed, says Airport is active but not installed in the Scenery library. And that is the case for all my airports, including Flightbeam's. :(

Edit: Vancouver showed up in FSX,after i installed it into the FSX SE, but FSX SE crashes with bglman error right upon loading CYVR scenery. Haven't tried the rest of the airports though.

getting crashes in fsx SE and p3d after the recent update. only at fsdt klas, klax and kiah. flightbeams are fine.

update: after testing with both p3d and fsx se, i have concluded that you cannot run the fsx se versions of fsdt airports alongside p3d versions. The fsx se version without p3d version isntalled doesnt work at all on my machine. ( loads up, then freezes, then crashes ). fsdt airports work fine in P3D without fsx se versions installed.

Hi Umberto,
  I already have JFK V2 installed in FSX. I purchased FSX SE then downloaded the new installer so I could install it in FSX SE. After the install I ran FSX SE and promptly got a CTD. I redownloaded JFK V2 and reinstalled without uinstalling. CTD again. Appcrash info points to bglmax.dll as the module in question. Any thoughts?

Fsx boxed version installed originally, downloaded and installed fsx stream. After installing and testing a few addons uninstalled boxed version via fsx uninstaller. When I installed the airports (KJFK, KORD, KLAX) after redownloading from your site your installer found my steam folder automatically and installed without any errors. There is nothing in the Add-ons menu within FSX Steam other than the latest version of FSUPIC I had downloaded.

Found the problem, it was a bug in the Addon Manager related to support of legacy FS8 code, which is different (and not needed by most of our sceneries) in the FSX Steam Edition.

You only need to get the updated version of the bglmanx.dll file so, JUST run ANY FSDT installer (Stand-Alone Addon Manager, any scenery, GSX, etc.), no need to redownload anything, just run any one installer, to get the updated .DLL.

Sorry for the problem, it was a very old bit of code that we didn't use for years (it was pre-FSX), but still had to be handled with the new FSX version.

Sorry to report, but I'm still having the same issue after a fresh download and installation of Addon Manager.  For the heck of it I also downloaded KORD and reinstalled it with no luck.

I then uninstalled all of the airports including ones from another vendor, and only reinstalled KORD with the same results.

Please see pictures below.

Your problem doesn't have anything to do with the ones reported here, which was either a problem with the installer recognizing the Steam edition, or a crash when starting at an FSDT airport.

You are reporting missing menus, which can be caused by missing Simconnect libraries in the Steam version, as explained here:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,11257.msg86703.html#msg86703

If that still doesn't fix the issue, this thread indicates all the known solutions for missing menu items under the "Addons" menu:

It's best if you do that when you really need to reinstall because, chances are they would be updated again by then.

Hi,

Since I have installed FsDreamteam sceneries and GSX, I always get this message when I start FSX SE :

How to stop the message?

How does this have anything to do with this topic?

Each time I start FSX Steam Edition, I have to answer to the question if I want to run couatl.

I hope Vituali could help me.

But why did you post this in some random topic?

That's not a problem if the Addon Manager or the installer. That message indicates there's an error in your DLL.XML or EXE.XML file, so the installer will not proceed, because if it tried to change an already corrupted file, it would corrupt it even more and nothing would work anyway.

You should check your XML files for errors, if you cannot fix them, post them here. Their location changes depending if you installed Steam stand-alone, or alongside an existing FSX installation.

The error is in your DLL.XML, which looks to be hand-edited. You put these lines:

</SimBase.Document>
<Launch.Addon>
  <Name>as_connect</Name>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <Path>as_srv\as_btstrp.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

After the closing tag </Simbase.Document>, which is of course illegal.

You should move all these lines up, so the last lines will look like this:

<Launch.Addon>
  <Name>as_connect</Name>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <Path>as_srv\as_btstrp.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

I have both FSX and FSX steam installed. I downloaded the latest fsdt installers and successfully installed the Hawaii airports into FSX steam. A week later when I try to install the rest of my fsdt airports I do not get the option to install to steam, only to FSX. I guess something may have happened after the last steam update or something has changed in the registry. Is there anything I can try to get the fsdt installer to give back the option to install to steam? I tried with all of my fsdt airports and none are now giving the FSX steam install option.

Something has changed in your registry, because there hasn't been any updates on Steam after the one published January 12th.

Fixing your registry, of course. You must check your FSX registry keys to be pointing to the correct folders, they are located at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator - Steam Edition\10.0 (if FSX:SE is installed together with FSX)

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 ( if FSX:SE is installed stand-alone )

Thank you for your fast response. I discovered that the Setpath for FSX Steam was missing. I imported back my last
regedit backup file, rebooted the computer and presto the Setpath to FSX Steam returned and the FSDT installer now offers the FSX Steam option again and I was able to install KLAX into Steam no problem.

Thanks again.

in the dll. the addon manager path just said bglmanx.dll so i fixed it to say:

No need whatsoever to do that. If there's no path, the path FSX is running from is used, which is exactly the same. As I've said in my previous message, the problem is NOT the DLL.XML file, the problem are your registry keys.

Is your FSX:SE installed Stand-Alone or alongside an existing FSX installation ?

No, it's NOT!

Normally, when FSX:SE is installed stand-alone without FSX, the correct registry key for it, is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\10.0, the same used by FSX.

But if you uninstall FSX *after* you install the Steam edition, the FSX uninstaller won't obviously "fix" your FSX:SE keys, because it doesn't know anything about them. A correct course of action would be Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Steam edition too, so the registry keys would all be like FSX, which is how FSX:SE is when installed on a clean system.

Note that, you could have proceeded with the installation, if you simply replied NO to the 1st request to install into FSX Steam mode, because the installer is smart enough to check the FSX folder then, and check if there's a Steam FSX installed there, so you still have a chance to install into Steam in "Single mode", even after your replied NO to a Steam "Dual Mode" install.

This was already discussed here too:

For a dual install is it possible to add the full path to FSDT scenery in the scenery.cfg so that FSDT scenery will load in FSX-SE from its current location in FSX ?  This works with most scenery.

Doesn't work with our sceneries, they MUST be under the fsdreamteam folder, under the FSX root they run into. You simply have to install them into Steam too.

All of them, which could be quickly confirmed in the "System requirement" paragraph of their own information page on our site.
