Since today i am getting an error when i try to update my addons from fsdreamteam via the fdt installer and the liveupdater.
The message tells me that 'the update server can't be reached'
I got this message this morning, and it's keeping this error.
I reinstalled the addon manager, the universal installer, installed via offline files, installed in new location, my antivirus is off and even has exclusions for the fsdreamteam folders and exe files... I don't know how to fix this.
Before i started the installer every day, now it doesn't work. Also clicking ok and update anyway give it a start but it stops at around 35%
Thanx for the help!
Screenshot added.

I cannot replicate the problem. We changed our main server IP, but this hasn't happened now, it happened on January 21st:
https://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,34264.msg213568.html#msg213568
So, if you didn't say that "Before i started the installer every day", I could explain it with possibly your DNS for some reason still not updated, but if it's starting now, that can't be it.
Can you try a VPN ?
-
Well i came home from holliday yesterday so it's possible i did not open it dince 21 january...
How can i update the dns or resolve this?
Thanx!

How can i update the dns or resolve this?
You can try manually setting the DNS in your Windows network settings, try these:
1.1.1.1 ( cloudflare DNS as primary )
8.8.8.8 ( google DNS as secondary )
These are updated very fast, usually minutes after a site changes its IP address.
-
Ok i will try this tomorow.
Thanx

Changed this, without solution...
I am playing msfs2024 with say intensions, active sky, doing all on my pc without any problems. There must be something wrong at your side...

Tried with Proton vpn, different countires, no solution...
The problem must be with fsdreamteam. You changed the server and the message tells me that the server can't be reached... Sounds clear to me!
-
Did a full reinstall of the addon manager, wiped all my gsx and airports from fsdreamtem, still the same message that the servers can't be reached! I hope to get a solution soon! used gsx for years without any of theese problems! Now i even can't update or can't update my airports...
After the reinstall and pressing ok at the error page i am trying to install gsx. The update is bussy with like 1% for 3 minutes or so... Like the server is reached but they are very very very slow...
My internet is 1Gbps... very fast, that can't be the problem.
Please look at your servers!

Please look at your servers!
Don't you think that if we really had a server issue we wouldn't have noticed it and fix it ? The server works fine and I can run the updater with no issues, and of course I access it through Cloudflare, like everybody else.
I also replied to you here, no need to repeat it again:

So everything is working perfectly for years.
You are making changes to your MAIN server.
From that point it stopped working.
The program tells litterally that the 'updated servers' so it knows there is an update on the servers but it can't find it... it tells there is a new server but i can't reach it...
But i am the problem...
Vpn doesn't work
Antivirus is fully off
My internet is really fast ..
I did not change anything
Dns was changed
So do you... YOU changed the servers....
But the peoblem is with me...
And with that you are stopping to help someone who spend a lot off monney on your products...
Sad that there is no support to help your customers to resolve problems!
-
So everything is working perfectly for years.
Is still working now.
You are making changes to your MAIN surver.
Yes, but we did it two weeks ago, and other than a couple of hours where it's normal it wouldn't work for everybody, it always worked. We ARE on the new server right now, the forum is running on it.
The progrzm tells litterally that the 'updated servers' so it knows there is an update on the servers but it can't find it... it tells there is a new server but i can't reach it...
No. That's just a typo, the message was supposed to say "can't connect to the update server", it has been like that for years, so it doesn't mean it "knows" there's updated, the extra "d" is just a typo that I'll fix so nobody else would be confused by it, so it's JUST a generic connection error.
So do you... YOU changed the servers....
Yes, and we are writing on it, you and me.
And with that you are stopping to help someone who spend a lot off monney on your products...
Sad that there is no support to help your customers to resolve problems!
What you are trying to say now. I AM supporting you, right now, what "you are stopping to help someone" even means, considering I keep replying to you multiple times ??
-
Tha screenshot tells that the website is not responding for me...
Can you please check that cause i can not resolve the not responding thing of that website.
When i open it in my browser, all is working fine...
I have a complete normal Belgium router from Telenet...
I am just a particular person, no company or company subscription or so.
I understand that you are telling me that everything works, but can you understand me that there were no changes on my end and they were on your end?
Is there a way to get it bypassed just to test? Or do you sea any other things?
Thanx for the help!
-
The test is done by pinging the server, with a timeout of 4 seconds. Is it possible that something (firewall?) is blocking pinging ? Try this on a command line:
ping virtualisoftware.com
does it work ?
-
This is the result...
Installer keeps giving the error.
-
The ping test was useful, since you are configured to use ipv6. I checked the server, ping on ipv6 works as well, but it's a bit slower, so I think maybe the 4 seconds timeout might not be enough. And, in any case, ping can possibly fail for other reasons that might be difficult to control.
I posted an updated installer now that checks if the server is available in a different way, not using ping, and with a timeout raised to 10 seconds, let me know if it works. You should get it by just starting it again.
-
So i started the fsdtinstaller again and reinstalled a newly download installer but no solution.
-
You mean you saw the installer being updated, but got exactly the same error ?
-
After you said that you posted an update i just opend the fsdt installer.
That did not work
I redownload the universal installer from the fsdreamteam website, also did not work.
Was this done correctly?
-
I redownload the universal installer from the fsdreamteam website, also did not work.
Nowhere I said to do that, I only posted the updated .exe online, which normally is automatically downloaded.
Check the date of the digital signature of the Couatl_Updater2.exe in \Addon Manager, it's the only sure way to check if you got the new version. It must be today at 14:32
-
it's 14:41 today.
just for your info:
I tried thing to solve via Chatgpt, i know that's not fully correct allways, and i know something from a pc but not everything. Just want to tell wat chatgpt says
The error confirms a server-side issue.
The main website (virtualisoftware.com) is reachable, but the update backend (update.virtualisoftware.com) is not responding.
These are separate endpoints with separate DNS/IP and services.
After the recent server/IP change, the update subdomain appears misconfigured or offline.
The Universal Installer has no fallback, so it fails even though the main site works.
This is not a local PC, network, firewall, or DNS issue.
I gave him the ping result, the error message and the not responding message from the installer ui.
Chatgpt first told to use vpn and dns,... and other solutions just like you gave me.
I don't say that this is correct but just want to share.
To be clear, i can open the update.virtualisoftware.com via my browser and have all files visible.. (i think all)
-
it's 14:41 today.
The digital signature shows the time when I rebuilt the .exe, not counting the time it takes to upload it and write the message to you to check the time. That's why I asked to check the time of the digital signature NOT the file date/time itself, because that would only tell when you downloaded it, so even if you downloaded an outdated version it will still show the same time.
The digital signature is in the "Digital Signature" tab of the File Properties, and it has a date/time. Confirm if it's 14:32
This sentence from ChatGPT contradict your own experience:
The error confirms a server-side issue.
The main website (virtualisoftware.com) is reachable, but the update backend (update.virtualisoftware.com) is not responding.
These are separate endpoints with separate DNS/IP and services.
After the recent server/IP change, the update subdomain appears misconfigured or offline.
First, he completely made up the statement about being separate IPs or services (they are obviously running on the same server), but if it was true we had a "misconfigured" update.virtualisoftware.com domain, it wouldn't be possible for you to do this:
To be clear, i can open the update.virtualisoftware.com via my browser and have all files visible.. (i think all)
-
sorry
it is 14.32u
-
I posted a new version, which a command line switch that will let you skip the initial connection test entirely.
- First start the installer normally, to get the updated couatl_updater2.exe
- Exit the installer
- Open a command line to the \Addon Manager folder
- Start it this way:
Couatl_Updater2.exe /SKIPSERVERCHECK
This will go ahead without the initial check, so you can try if the downloads are working.
-
And nothing is installed... all my products are uninstalled fully.
-
And nothing is installed... all my products are uninstalled fully.
That's normal, of course. If you uninstalled everything, it will just skip over all products and yes, the text is the same, even if the (weird) case in which you decided to run the Live Update without anything installed, it will always tell that everything is updated.
So, first install something, and see if the installer works.
-
Ok but that's the whole thing... How can i install something.... It doesn't connect to the server so it can't get anything to install... If i press install for gsx for exemple it starts downloading 11 parts very very very slow like 11% and so 11 parts in 1 hour and then it freezes...
How can i install something?
-
out of nowhere,... runninng the fsdt installer...
I did nothing, just trying for fun...
The initial error message with update server not reached stays present.
After that and trying install gsx i get the screenshot
Did you change something?
-
You switched to the Beta channel, that is currently empty, since we haven't run a Beta in a long while.
-
Yes, normal channel still the same. sorry.
A question in between to get a temporarely solution, is there a way to install gsx in another way?
-
You can try this file, it's a batch file I use to verify downloads are not corrupted on the server (they aren't here, I just ran it). You must place it here:
%APPDATA%\Virtuali\PackagesCache
and run it from there. You should see some files being downloaded, and if it worked, you should see two big ZIP files at the end. After the ZIP files appeared, start the FSDT Installer and it will recognize the files are there, and will proceed with their extraction, without downloading.
-
That seems to be worked...
When i open the installer now it says that there is an update for gsx, when i press it runs the update.
But by latest version there is a ?
The server not reached message is still present.
So i downloaded the files from the server, but i can't download anything from the server via the fsdt installer?
Correct?
Any idea how this can be?
-
It is installed in the sim but it stays on the looping page so i can't use it.
-
Yes, the ? sign means the installer can't reach the server to check the version, and of course can't update. But now you should have a reasonably completed base 3.7.6 version, so try installing the current Offline installer on top of it, and it should work.
-
Ok it works
A big thanx for this!!!
Do you have any idea why it is fixed now via the batch file?
And why it isn't working via the fsdtinstaller (normal way?)
-
Do you have any idea why it is fixed now via the batch file?
Something (antivirus, firewall) might been blocking the installer, but of course cannot block a batch file. Note that, both use exactly the same method to download: the default CURL utility that is included in Windows by default.
-
I checked everything, together with chatgpt i can't find a program or tool what's blocking something from fsdreamteam. Everything is excluded what i could think of...
"Couatl_Updater2.exe /DISABLESECURITY
Via chatgpt i came to this cmd, no solution still the same error...
I really believe why you think it's some sort of antivirus but really it's all of for years... It seams like the file you sended me took the downloads on a different way..
Anything you know i can do more?
-
"Couatl_Updater2.exe /DISABLESECURITY
Via chatgpt i came to this cmd, no solution still the same error...
You should stop trusting ChatGPT: that command is completely made up and doesn't exists.
-
Ok so what do i have to do?
-
I gave you the batch file and you said it worked. If you install the offline installer after, you have the latest version.
-
Ok so can you give me the batch file for some airports i own?
And if htere is a gsx update, can i just use the batch file or what do i need to do then?
