I purchased the DFW prior to the download links being available.
Once I received the download links, I installed for FS9.
Went to FS, selected DFW. To activate the airport, do I select "Reinstall" since I already have the serial number?
Thanks

You can select either "Reinstall" or "Register Serial", it won't make any difference: it will ask your Serial number anyway, the only difference is that Reinstall will just made a couple of questions more, like a wizard.

Thanks for your reply.
No I have another problem.
I went to download FS9 for DFW again, and this link (below) opens another window and nothing happens.

Works fine from here. However, that link doesn't look correct, check the link on our web page, it's different.
Try the following:
- Clear your browser cache and restart the browser
- Clear all cookies from mediafire.com and try again
-
Thanks.
Cleared browser and cookies and now dowloading correctly.
To make sure I understand correctly.
After I install DFW, I can start FS9, select DFW at any gate.
The scenery should start Trial.
Then I go to Addon Manager and click Reinstall, enter the serial number and the scenery will activate.
Do I need to add the scenery to the scenery library or does it do that automatically?
Thanks

Yes.

It's all automatic.
-
Okay, I think I have another problem.
Sorry to bother you again.
Is there not any gates for large/heavies in your scenery?
After selecting DFW in FS, I went to select a gate.
I could not find anything listed for heavies/medium, or anywhere I can park a heavy even at a international terminal
that I know the real DFW has.
All gates are listed as small or ramp.
Thanks for all your help.

That's just a name, it doesn't mean anything and it won't affect parking selection and assignment by the ATC, for your airplane or the AIs. What matters is the actual parking radius, which are set correctly, and there are plenty of parkings for heavies.
-
When I want to fly and want to start a 747 at a gate, how do I know which gate to select that is proper to a heavy.
What gates in your scenery is for heavies and international aircraft/terminal?
I do appreciate your time and assistance.
-
Almost all international flights parks at the southern side of Terminal D, from D6 to D15
-
Will renaming of gates to indicate heavy or medium be in the next update?
-
Will renaming of gates to indicate heavy or medium be in the next update?
Well, we might do it but, really, it's not an issue, it's just cosmetic, what matters is the real radius.
-
I would appreciate it if you guys could.
When I load a flight for a 747 departing DFW, I will not know what gate to start at
and if I load the aircraft at the wrong gate due to eveything is labeled small, then the aircraft wings
of a 747 could over lap the next aircraft parked at the next gate.

And how can one determine the real radius in FS9's Airport Selection menu? All I see is a list of GATE SMALL...
It's an issue.

I thought FS9 users were the wizards of AFCAD editing...
Just use the free ADE, open the AFCAD file, select the parking list from the menu, select the "Print" button, and get a nice printed reference.
It's an issue.
It's not, but we'll fix it anyway...
-
Okay, what is ADE and where do you get it?
And where is the AFCAD?
All I have is bgl files in the scenery list and in the addon scenery/scenery file.
-
ADE is Airport Design Editor, it's a freeware program to view and edit AFCAD files, here's the website:
http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/
The AFCAD is named AP_KDFW.BGL. After you install ADE, select the option to Open a specific .BGL, and open that file. Then, select "Lists" menu, select "Parkings", and you'll see a list all all parkings, with the ability to Print it.
-
Thanks.
Sorry for the stupid questions.
I make a rule not to mess with the config files, due to it would be my luck, they would get messed up.
Thanks again for all of your hard work.
I really am looking forward to flying in and out of DFW.
-
Okay, I was able to print out the list.
It doesn't tell me anything different in where heavies are to be parked or loaded in the start of a flight in FS.
It states the same thing in naming all gates "small".
Where can I find a list of what aircraft park at what gates in DFW?
-
As I've said, you should just forget the naming, and look only at the radius, which is clearly indicated in that list.
Where can I find a list of what aircraft park at what gates in DFW?
Inside flightsim, for AI airplane, the rule has always been that, an airplane will be routed at the smalles parking that can handle that airplane. When there are multiple alternative, the Airline code takes precedence.
To know if your airplane can fit in a parking, just check the parking radius (as listed in ADE) against your wingspan. Half of your wingspan, of course, since the parking is expressed as a radius. For example, since a 747-400 has a 64 meters wingspan, it will fit in every parking which is has a radius of at least 32 meters.
-
I'll probably get jumped on for this, but here goes....It's pretty bad when you pay $33 for a quality airport and have to download an airport editor to find out where to start your aircraft! O won all od the fsdreamteam sceneries and I am happy with all but this item!
Moe Works

Can an ADE afcad file be altered using the my present AFCAD programme which I have used for many years,
if not are these two compatible with each other, and for both the FS9 & FSX (FSX not yet installed on my PC), versions of your scenery.
-

The ADE AFCAD is not special, it's just a standard BGL. In fact, it's probably safer to use ADE instead of the old AFCAD, because ADE preserves more data when saving, compared to AFCAD.
-
A fix for the parking designators is available in the forum.
-
I think this should definately be looked at...and amended. Can't park my 747 in the correct area without blocking the bays either side of me!!
