I have a question about updating, I keep getting the message that an update is available, is that normal?

And I've already run the update a few times?

There isn't any notification system that tells you an update is available. Maybe you assumed that, just before the Update button is always clickable, there's a new Update ? That's not how the update works, is not a notification, is just a always-clickable update "Check" button.
