GSX Support MSFS / Re: Uncheck Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution
« Last post by JetMech383 on Today at 02:13:01 pm »
We don't install or set any specific compatibility settings for that file, and on my system, the 640x480 is NOT checked ( as normal ), and I also can't change it.

No idea why it can't be changed, but clearly being locked to 640x480 is not right, even if the doesn't even have a screen, so it shouldn't even matter.

In any case, sometimes Windows set wrong compatibility flags by itself, so try checking these two registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

And if you see aline referencing it ( we haven't set it, that's for sure ), remove it from both keys AND REBOOT.

Umberto,

Appreciate you taking the time to read my question, providing some insight, and for giving me a possible solution. That was it!!!! I found the reference to the 640x480 in the first registry key, deleted it, rebooted, and everything loads fine now.

Thank you so much!!

Branden

The cargo loading system will likely completely remade at some point, with precise airplane profiles indicating how many containers they can hold in each cargo bay.

Also, is it possible you might have manually copied the whole GSX packages to the Community folder, instead of having Symbolic links to it ?

Doing this will guarantee nothing will work because, the manually copied copy in the Community folder will be left outdated (the FSDT Update only updates the Addon Manager copy ) and will prevent the sim to see the copy that has been updated.

If you did this, REMOVE the copies in the Community folder, start the installer and click "Relink", so it will create the Symbolic links as it was supposed to.

A way to recognize if a folder is a real folder or a Symbolic link, is if it has a small arrow on its icon in Windows Explorer. If it has no arrow, it's a real folder, which is wrong and now how we install GSX normally so, REMOVE IT and in the FSDT Installer choose "Relink".

Then, run an update CHECK on GSX, to be sure you have the latest files.

GSX Support MSFS / Re: issue GSX Jetway Helsinki scenery
« Last post by virtuali on May 30, 2024, 11:07:10 pm »
As clearly explained in the GSX Manual, Page 7, whenever you install a new scenery AFTER GSX, you MUST go back to the FSDT Installer, enter the Config page and click the Exclude 3rd party button to disable GSX replacement jetways for any 3rd party airports.

I'll quote the relevant part of the manual, under the IMPORTANT heading:

Quote

IMPORTANT
The Configuration of 3rd Party Exclusion from Jetway replacement is done when doing any of the following:

• When you first Install or Reinstall GSX

• When you perform a GSX Update

• If you Install/Reinstall/Unlink/Relink any FSDT airport

If you install a new 3rd party scenery, just installing it won’t result to automatically go here and reconfigure Jetway Exclusion, you should develop a habit to always check the GSX Config page after installing a new 3rd party scenery. Failing to do so, would result in Parking conflicts (visible as double Parking spots in the World Map), and Jetways malfunctions.

SUGGESTION
If you never use default airports and you always have a 3rd party add-on for any airport you fly into, you might consider Disabling ALL GSX Jetway replacement files at once, by clicking the >>> button on the Enabled side, so they will all go on the Disabled side, and eventually Enable an airport, for that time you want to use the default scenery.

Zurich V2 for MSFS / Re: Holdingpoint A1 at RWY 28
« Last post by virtuali on May 30, 2024, 11:04:09 pm »
This has been already discussed in another thread.

We really can't fix it entirely, because by sheer misfortune, a seam in the MS tiles system runs exactly in that point so, even if we put a flattening polygon (which we obviously already HAVE), the polygon gets splitted in two over the dividing line between the two tiles and, for some reason, a flattening polygon that has been splitted by the sim this way, is not flat as we made it.

The only conceivable fix would flatten the WHOLE airport to the same height (some developers use this trick, we also did when converting old airports from P3D, but not LSZH), but that would cause a far worse drop in realism, because all runways ends would then at the same height, instead of the different heights they are reported on charts, messing your ILS approach (for those that care) more than that small bump.

GSX Support MSFS / Re: Could not create the log file

I found a fix for anyone who has the same issue, its because Sim Update 15 change the version of the game and where its located.

We never suggested to put a path in the log file, precisely to prevent issues like this, because with no path:

logFile = Couatl.log

It will create it in its own folder in %appdata%\Virtuali

Or, if you want to be 100% sure it will never change, set it like this:

logFile = %appdata%\Virtuali\Couatl.LOG
