i said on the other post that i was going to open a repaint shop, probably most of you don't care or didnt read
well, anyways, that's not gonna happen anymore.
i got REALLY frustrated with fsx for some reasons such as the physics suck real bad, 99,9% of the add ons are pure crap, you can't edit a plane model, in fact this one is the main reason why im quitting fsx, after making 3 textures for the fa-18 / xload f18D i was going to make a video, but, to change the color of the smoke, i would have to make a new folder and copy a plane for each color. also, the acceleration f-18 doesn't have any weapons, and the xload f-18 smoke system wont activate unless you press and hold I or keep the afterburner on. and you can't change these things cuz it's "built into the model" what i've been listening for a long time, and the reason why this game is not more than regular.
how cool would it be if i could fix the ugly afterburner effects of the f-18, or put some weapon models under its wings? i would be able to do so without the need of having a large addon developement knowledge

Well leaving is your choice, personally I have read most of your posts and was looking forward to your rendition of a repaint shop (I would love to see a repaint of the Tiger scheme you use in your log on label thats my fave 8))

i made only 3 fictional paintings for myself, they're fully compatible with both acceleration f/a-18 and xload f/a-18D, and i'll upload them later if you want

As you are talking about repaints here, I'll take the opportunity to ask a question.
Is it possible to eliminate the polygons marked at the attached screenshot changing textures? Maybe making them transparent in that zone so you can see through them?
I don't think they are right. And for what has been said at this forum, looks like it's an error made at microsoft when they merged the fsdreamteam '3d model of the virtual cockpit' with the '3d plane model that is visible from the cockpit'.

not possible, it's "built into the model"... and it uses the same textures as the external model

could you give a little more info an how to access those paints? I have been computer simming for years
but unfortunately need detailed directions when using the computer for downloads ::),or anything else over the net
,my kids are always calling me " critically computer challenged " ;D

click on the link, roll to the bottom of the page, and click the button labeled "free"
a timer will appear saying "download ticket reserved in 0.6 minutes"
when the timer expires, it will be written just above "No premium user. Please enter: " and then 4 random characters that you'll have to type in the textbox that just appeared to confirm that you're not an automated system, just type the 4 characters and click the button "download via XXXX" where xxxx is the server you're downloading from, you can pick any of the servers, or just don't change
its not as hard as it sounds ;)

If I do a custom paint for the F/A-18 and fly in a session with others who do not have it installed.... Will they see it?

:o DAAAANNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!!! :o Fael those paints are kickin man. For real man. dont give up on man even without weaps mods or smoke color those are amazing. now r u havin problems painting them or just modifying the aircraft?

i didn't really give up, im just not playing it as i used to, im spending more time with janes fa18
painting them is quite simple with a repaint kit, i just had some problems editing the aircraft, actually the reason is that you just can't edit any aircraft, what is kinda sad
if you want a painting, let me know, im just not going to do it in large scale ;)

Well if u could make a reverse of the Tiger Meet (blak with orange tiger stripes) and make it usaf instead of canada af that'd be kickin. wold make and awesome bckgrnd for my computers. and if it works an awesome addition to my FSX-A. if ur wondering why tis paint scheme just look at my sn. and with what i've seen from ur work i'd be honored to have even a picture.

haha calm down guys, yes, i used to think of doing this for money, but these thoughts never left my mind, everything i know about textures, 3d models, this kind of thing, i learned by myself, and i dont think thats enough knowledge to make this a job.. in fact i went to the design college, but i decided to have flying classes, so i had to quit, so, i think i'll keep doing this for fun on my free time, at least for now ;)

hehe it will take me another couple days or more, im working on 2 other repaints and i just started building a whole plane... but thats another story

Wow, they all look really amazing. My opion would go to the one that has the whole plane painted. im more of a whole plane painted kinda person. for instance that all blak with the blue rudders F-18 u made was my favorite of the three. oh and it looks to be a bit much orange to where u cant quite tell its blak with orange near the tail section it seems to be a bit too much of the solid orange. if u could add some orange stripes where the fuselage is solid blak it would help and also show some breaks in the solid orange on the tail. and if u could make the bottom blak too. greatly apreciated. sry if im bein too picky. it looks excellent so far. oh and if its not to much trouble could u post the other paints ur doin. im kinda turning into a fan of ur work. love to hear how the full plane goes.

hey guys, its almost done, i just need some ideas for the rudder.. that panther is just a place holder :P
i took these screenshots on captainsim's fa-18D cause im having some trouble with the default fa18, i think the fallback path is bugged cause textures are not reflecting, even the sunlight, they're 100% opaque, and that makes the painting look ugly, thats why. but its the same thing... ;)

Both f18s are exactly the same thing, the difference is that xload has more eye candy and better reflections :P

Sorry havent been on in a while. been busy with stuff but yeah it looks awesome. im envious of myself for havin suggested it. it looks amazing. hmm an idea for the rudder u say. hmmmm well since its a blak tiger plane and takin a page out of how we got the plan for the plane y not have the tiger from the original Xload F-18d 's rudder and revers the colors and make it bigger and put it on the rudder. hows that sound? lemme know if that could work. nother ? of mine if u strap some ext. tanks on there like with the Xload version will they have the same blak with orng stripes or will they just look like the originals with the orange with blak stripes? oh and what do u have in mind for the insignia for the rudder?

my original idea was to paint the original tigermeet tiger with the inverse colors, but its not that simple, to repaint the plane i gotta paint everything from the scratch, so i can do it the color i want. but that tiger is like a spray painting sort of thing, it would be complicated to reproduce it... as you can see attatched. so i was thinkin of makin another tiger, more like the one above, but black with orange stripes
about the tanks, i just took off to have a better view of the plane, and cause i thought you wouldnt be interested, since i don't know if you have Xload or not, but they can be painted the way you want :)

Yeah ok i get what ur sayin and thanx for the illustration kinda helps to see it. ;) yeah that tiger looks fine. so will it be that exact one or r u gunna make another one like it? and about the tanks. no i dont have xload but a picture of it with the tanks on would be cool if its not too much extra work. and will the paint be adaptable for the acceleration F-18 or only the Xload version? oh and do u have any kind of insignia or squadron decal for this plane in the works or no? just askin? hey man dont worry bout me bein interested u got me blown away with wat u can do with this stuff. just show me whatevr u come up with and itll interest me. ;D

sry to break it to u buddy but fael has fallen off the face of the earth. he hasnt been on here since........ well since the last post he made in this thread. u might catch him by usin one of his messenger id's or email. tell him i'd still like to see if he's workin on the Blak Tigr F-18 he was designin for me if u do get ahold of him. i havent had any luck.
