Current development priorities
« on: June 21, 2013, 05:29:24 pm »
Hi Umberto,
It has been some time since I have seen a 'next is...' explanation from you. Can you give us an idea of what are the current development priorities, without necessarily committing to any timescales?
Thanks a lot. :)

Working on KIAH has started.

Working on some GSX fixes and improvements too.

We have other things going in the background, which will be announced when the time is right.

Thanks so much (especially about KIAH) - I have waited sooooo long. I have looked forward to this airport being done since FSX been out. I even purchased it from another developer but immediately uninstall because the default scenery was much more preferred.

Much success & hope everything go smoothly.

LOL!  Pretty bad when default beats payware.   :D

Great to know work on KIAH has started.  Will it have shadows the same as CYVR or will it have different technics than Vancouver?

Good question.....Basically will there be new tech rendering on this project different from the others?

YEAH! Like design the ENTIRE interior of the airport with 4096 textures and moving people going all around inside?

Yes, of course.

It will likely have even more hourly transitions, since their number only affect hard disk space, not memory usage. Dynamic shadows are what makes the difference between a "live" scenery, and one that looks good only in screenshot, which is why all that purchased CYVR love it and wouldn't want to settle for anything less, for a scenery released in 2013.

Fortunately, the Houston area is not so crowded with other 3rd party add-ons which takes away almost all available memory before our scenery get even into play, so OOMs shouldn't be very likely, but the scenery will of course offer the same memory configuration options as CYVR so, if one want to use all its memory with photoreal sceneries and memory-hungry airplanes, he'll have the ability to stretch down memory used by the scenery as much as needed, just like CYVR.

Virtuali sounds like you got it figured out?  :)  My question is (important) will you have the highways surrounding the airport made as well?  Especially Hwy 59/I-69.  Right before touchdown every three mins a plane flys over the freeway?  That is right next to the airports.....also what about the brush of trees surrounding the airport.  George Bush has a lot of trees on the east end of the airport in between hwy 59 and the runway?

Nothing is decided yet, we usually begin from the foundation (ground layout first), 3d highways and trees are more finishing touches.

I, for one, am happy you guys have started. With or without the above mentioned features, I believe I will NOT be disappointed. Noticing how sceneries have improved ever since KDFW, FSDT keeps getting better and better as each new scenery is produced. Following this trend, KIAH would have to be better than all previous sceneries.

Happy programming . . . . . . . . .

Outstanding news!  I'm really looking forward to this one in FSDT style.  Thanks for tackling airports others are afraid to touch!

This is the airport I fly into to go visit my father. Special meaning to me. Can't wait to purchase KIAH.
