GSX Install Error with P3D **SOLVED**
« on: April 19, 2013, 10:43:00 pm »
Hi,

I've been trying to install GSX. It starts very promising, but always ends up in:

Error
You must enter a full path with driver letter; for example
C:\APP
or a UNC path in the form:
\\server\share

I have tried gsx_fsx_setup.exe and setup_addonmanagerX.exe. Both fail the the same error dialog box.
Also the same error with the FSX TO PREPAR3D MIGRATION TOOL.

I use Windows 7 64 Bit on Drive C:\ and new P3D Install in Root Directory E:\.

Hope anyone has a good idea. :-\

Thank you in advance for your help

Regards

Alex

Also the same error with the FSX TO PREPAR3D MIGRATION TOOL.

That migration tool is probably the cause of the problem, it must have left traces of it, even if disabled (if you tried it with the program disabled and enabled).

- Be sure NO "fake" FSX.EXE is present in the P3D folder

- Be sure the registry keys for P3D are pointing to the P3D folder, which is where they are supposed to point at in a correct installation

- Be sure the registry keys for FSX are pointing to the FSX folder, which is where they are supposed to point at in a correct installation

The registry key for P3D is located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D\SetupPath
The registry key for FSX is located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0\SetupPath

Check both keys with REGEDIT and be sure they both point to the actual installed folders and, if you don't have FSX installed, remove the FSX registry key.

Hi Virtuali,

thanks for your quick reply and your tips.
You are right. The problem is in the registry.
So I could not even find any registrations marks for FSX and P3D.
So I decide to make a complett P3D reinstall in the correct path to drive e:/programme/...
After that GSX installation went without any problems.

In this occasion I want to thank you for the exemplary support. Please do keep it up.

Thanks and Greetings from germany.
