Seated Passengers Performance Issues SU3 3.7.1
« on: September 08, 2025, 01:47:21 pm »
Since SU3, seated passengers has terrible performance. Have updated to the latest version and flying the iniBuilds A350-1000 with seated passengers, external view becomes a slide show along with the cockpit door open. Wasn't previously like this and it isn't because of my computer setup cause I have a RTX 5090, 128GB RAM and i9 13900K.

We are not sure if it's SU3, or just the native MSFS 2024-style attachments are worse optimized than 2020-method we used previously to patch the xml models. The passengers as as optimized as they can, but if the sim doesn't properly optimize inactive visibilities, there's not much we can do about it.

Clearly, one expects we'd use the "proper" native MSFS-2024 attached_objects.cfg method to patch native MSFS 2024 airplanes, then it's up to MS/Asobo to be sure that invisible objects are not processed.

Of course, you are not forced to use Seated passengers and they are not enabled by default.

Sim does properly optimise inactive visibilities, just seems to not do it with your addon otherwise would be happening with everything and not just GSX Seated Passengers. Plus moving away from the plane the performance gets better so I think it's just fine tuning that needs to be done by you.

The problem that (as you said yourself), started with SU3, so it shouldn't have been obvious it was the sim and not "your add-on" without any need for me to clarify it, has been fixed with SU4, confirmed not JUST from the release notes:

Optimized scenery objects culling compute.

but also with a practical test I just made, to verify closing the door now properly optimize the objects which has been made invisible due to their visibility test, restoring the normal fps when the cockpit door is closed, as it always was before SU3.

In that case, can you make closing the door also affect the external view so passengers don’t show until you have figured out to optimise in SU3 or wait till SU4?

It won't make any difference, the point is the SU3 is not optimizing as well as it used to be invisible objects based on a Visibility condition, so even if we extended the door-based visibility to all camera views, it will be exactly the same: the point is that closing the door is SU3 is not as effective as it should (and it was), but it's seems to be way better in SU4.
