Anti Pop-Up Setting

(1/1)

johndrago:
Hi Guys,

I see that the anti-pop-up setting in the Add-on Manager is defaulted to "1", and can go up to "30."  What does each setting represent in distance?

What's a good setting so that the scenery is already drawn when on 15 mile final?

Thanks in advance,

John

It's a multiplier of the range that normally the objects use. It controls only smaller objects that have ranges less than the global scenery range so, for example, objects with 0.4 nm will be loaded at 4 nm, if the Anti-popup is set at 10

There's none, because even at the maximum setting, no object will be loaded in any case before the global scenery range, which changes between sceneries, but it usually varies between 7 and 10 nm. PHNL is 8 nm.

It would be wrong to have such large loading range, both because 8 nm is already large enough to eliminate any pop-up ( and it already costs some fps on all except the most powerful PCs ), and because at that range, the airport would be loaded even when landing on other nearby airports, which would cause an unneeded strain on the PC, when you are not even using the airport.

Understood.

So, what is a good default setting then to have a balanced mix?

Thanks,

John
