Frames
« on: September 19, 2008, 02:11:22 pm »
First of all....NIIIIIICE Scenery...only tried out the demo thing, but still amazing  :)

I got a Question regarding Frames...with my system (E8500, GF280, 3gigs RAM) I got at the Delta Terminal only 16 frames, all other Airports work great.
My question is now, will the performance be increased, by buying the full version ?

Thanks ahead
Greetings from Germany!

Surely, there's no difference between the full and trial version, with regard to fps. It would be silly for us to *limit* performances on demo mode...

However, 16 fps seems a little bit low, if you check this message here:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=946.msg7536#msg7536

You can see the scenery runs far better than that.

Of course, if you stuffed your FS9 with fps-eating addons, like traffic package full of non-optimized models (no multiple LODs, FS2002 models and textures, etc.), a scenery with over 240 parking stands, like JFK, is able to attract them in huge numbers and, if the models aren't fps friendly, this will kill the fps, but of course is nothing that the scenery can do about it.

The default JFK have so few parking spots available, that the number of AIs would be too low to impact fps too much.

I'm getting pretty low FPS too Thorsten, but, as Virtuali said, add-on AI will kill your FPS.

I am pretty involved with AI and have a pretty extensive list of traffic files (700+), so my FPS hover arround 18 to 25 FPS in most parts of the airport. I tried disabling the KLGA and Manahattan scenery add-on packages and that didn't help much. I will try disabling KEWR next, but I got a feeling that it might be too far to affect the FPS at KJFK. I'm sure that if we disabled AI the airport would run much better, no doubts about that.

Great add-on guys, another hit. I wish that sometime you might think of applying this incredible skill to a challenging smaller airport like SEQU (Quito, Ecuador) or ZULS (Lhasa, Tibet). I can guarantee you that you won't get any FPS issues or complaints.  ;)

Mariano  :)

After playing with the setting, I now achieve 22-30 (locked at 30) frames. I think I'm going to ask for my dad's credit card tonight  ;D

I think it would help if everyone listed their system specs in their sigs.

I'm getting great frames because I am running at a very high rez (2500x1900) with three 280 cards on a 30" monitor.... The cards are taking some of the rendering load in FSX. (not bragging, I'm just extremely overjoyed at the realistic flight performance in both sims!).

12-18fps @ 1600x1200x32 / 4xAA 8xAF on a 9800GX2 powered by a Q9450@3,4Ghz w/ 2GB RAM;
100% AI Traffic with Imaginesim's KLGA and KEWR installed;
Level-D 767.

This is just from my first flight into JFK (EPWA->KJFK).

In other words, on my machine, the performance is on par with ORD. Slightly worse than, say...Aerosoft's Heathrow and Frankfurt, but on par with Imaginesim's Atlanta. Nowhere near the performance I get from Flytampa's Vienna (average 35fps) or Flightscenery's Portland (high 20s), but those two are far smaller airports.

That's about what I'm seeing as well. 12-16 with the following config. It's a pretty heavy hitter, but the airport is really well done.

Intel Core2Duo 6850 2.66GHz overclocked to 3.0
2GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 7950 GT 512MB

Well, I have pretty the same config than AaronMyers, and I turn arond 18/25 FPS too, with all trafic 100%, AS6, and LevlD767... I 'm really satisfied, sure !!

Strangely, my FPS are killed litteraly on Aersoft Frankfurt, but Heathrow turn OK 19 FPS about !!

No, seriously, I thought that the complexity of JFK scenery (almost with all those 3D Objects) would be harder, but i'm really surprised !!!

See you
