JFK V2 inaccuracies
« on: April 27, 2013, 11:17:19 pm »
Gents, great update to the already amazing JFK scenery!

I found a couple of things that are off at Terminal 5 (where I work in RL)

1. This is small but obvious. The connection to the AirTrain and the Skywalk is missing.

2. That extra terminal extension at the end does not belong there. In RL, the building ends with a flat window surface.

I agree with you! I found same thing at Terminal 5, over airport train.

We'll have a look at fixing it, it was an area we didn't had much documentation for, but your links might prove useful.

Hi,

when you're already fixing things, two minor things that i noticed quickly:

Would it be possible to improve the textures below the bridges? Some look a little odd from the side because they still show the bridge that is now 3D (and not the road running below the bridge), it's easy to see in the two screenshots you posted in the thread "Re: JFK Version 2 released" (Posting #3). The side of some bridges also look a little odd because it looks like the texture of the road is mapped to them.

Thanks and kind regards

Jan

I am also a little surprised that FSDT didn't put in the gate numbers on the apron around T5, especially because I remember them talking about this sometime ago when they were proposing doing an update.

Still, while there are other things (like no runway numbers on the taxiways at the hold short lines, etc.), these are mostly details, and I am still really happy we got an update.

Umberto, I would be more than happy to provide pictures or info on Terminal 4 and 5. I work on the ramp for jetBlue so I have directs access to these areas. Email me.

mmosko76, you might wanna email him privately as sharing your email in the public might lead to a lot of spam emails.

Also, instead of outer taxiway lights, JFK has reflective "poles" (used to have lights, but they were replaced ~6 years ago).  JFK v1 did a good job with these, but v2 has them as actual lights (ie they cast light on the ground).  This is incorrect.

That being said, v2 is still a great improvement over v1

Take a look at this image from Google http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl. 31L/13R were rennovated with a completion date of July 2010. The presentation of the runway in V2 is pretty much correct. I have seen several photos of it on airliners.net and it is bright.

Edit. I checked the above link and it only goes to the Google Map home page. So you are going to need to find KJFK and zoom in on the runway. Sorry.

I know the release of this patch is imminent, I just want to point out two more things that I noticed. The first gate at T5 (next to gate 2) seems to not have a jetway and have some stuff blocking the yellow line, at the real JFK, this is a gate (gate 1) (https://maps.google.com/?ll=40.644315,-73.776645&spn=0.001551,0.001923&t=h&z=19)

The second thing is that the gates at the new concourse B do not have gate numbers (I believe they go up to 40).

Not sure if these will be included in the patch, just wanted to point them out.

thanks again for the update, really can't get enough of it

If you are editing the area around T5, any chance you could change the AFCAD so that Aer Lingus aircraft now park at T5 (Gate 14/11) instead of the old location at T4. That'd be great if you could change it.

Ró.
