Even more changes at JFK
« on: February 13, 2013, 06:11:16 pm »
Delta and PANYNJ are not done with Terminal 4 expansion. Looks like a addition to house their regional jet operation to replace all OPS at Terminal 2 (in the video go to and pause it at 2:18 and 2:52 to see artist impression shots). See this press release from February 11, 2013. The main highlights are as follows:

Delta Air Lines, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and JFK International Air Terminal will continue expansion at John F. Kennedy International Airport with a $175 million project that will add 11 gates

The new project is in addition to the previously announced $1.2 billion redevelopment at Terminal 4 set to open in May.

With the new expansion, Terminal 4′s Concourse B will house 27 Delta gates and completely replace Delta’s current Terminal 2 regional jet operation.

All gates will be designed to accommodate two-class regional jets as well as provide flexibility for gating additional mainline aircraft.

The new expansion builds on Delta’s previously announced $1.2 billion Terminal 4 redevelopment opening in May. That expansion, which is 90 percent complete, features nine new and seven renovated international gates

The expanded Terminal 4 will replace the outdated Terminal 3 facilities

Demolition of Terminal 3 is expected to be completed by summer 2015. The Terminal 3 site will then be used for aircraft parking.

Once the new Terminal 4 opens in May, Delta will more than double the current shuttle bus operation for passengers connecting between Terminals 2 and 4. Ten buses will carry connecting passengers between the existing bus holdrooms in Terminals 2 and 4. By September 2013, Delta will open a new 8,000 square-foot bus holdroom facility adjacent to gate B20.

So FSDT, what is your intentions with the already announced JFK makeover that you all are working on? Looks like after the May opening Delta will be winding down operations at Terminal 3 as they start gutting it for a demolition. I would love if you guys just simply redo it with what it will look like upon completion at Terminal 4 with the large parking area where the Terminal 3 footprint is currently.
