Follow-Me car to the runway?
« on: March 30, 2012, 05:46:49 pm »
Is there a "follow me" car to take you to your departing runway?

For the airports like KLAX and KDFW and I'm assuming every FSDT airport from here on out where the progressive taxi line no longer exists it'd be nice to have the guidance to the runway.

I struggle greatly with taxiing using charts and looking for the little taxiway signs and markers and just find having the follow-me car or the yellow line makes simming more enjoyable for me.  I've been trying to use my KDFW scenery and learning to do it the "proper" way but I'm sick of it now and I find that I just don't fly out of KDFW because I always get lost on the taxiways, which ends up frustrating me.

Again, I know it's probably not realistic but it would sure be nice.  I'm probably not the only one who feels this way either.

Thanks!

I agree would welcome follow me vehicle some ai planes ar taxing to other runways that ATC gives you [Example Delta 417 clear for take off 17L. Be advised Boeing B737 taking off 17R. Now I aske which Ai to follow if you are not formilar with airports. Lets get ride of use with the yellow lines for ever. But for now letFSDT finish polishing GSX as is then we will have a better Departure program also. YOU CAN ALWAYS EXPECT THE BEST FROM FSDT!!!!!!]

Not sure if I want to get into a plane where the captain can't even find the runway...........Maybe look at a chart or should GSX provide them too !!

If you're hearing clear for takeoff, you're on the tower frequency when you should be monitoring ground.

Here is a little 'cheat' program you can buy. Like a small GPS, showing the way to take off. Seems like a smart thing for persons who have problem with findings on airports, and not too unrealistic either, some pilots of today have ipad's with the maps in that thing, so why not.

Airport diagrams are always good to use.

Sorry, but I forgot to add a link to the program I suggested above. A nice little program for everyone who is having hard to find the runway's. And also as good as using paper maps of each airport.

To the people being sarcastic telling me to use airport diagrams, so on and so forth, I don't appreciate it and I think it's uncalled for.

I said in my original post I have tried and struggle to follow the charts/diagrams.  I'd rather just do it the easy way since flying in FSX is something I do for fun and although it's not realistic I realize this.

However I'm doing it on my own time in my own house on my own computer.  So I don't see why it would matter why I would want this feature.

Also I don't think I was rude in my request, if FSDT doesn't want to include it that's fine.  It was a simple question.

However since there are thousands of other airports I can fly to where the unrealistic, but functioning yellow progressive taxi lines appear I will fly to them instead and FSDT won't get any more of my money.  I like the FSDT airports but as I stated in my original post I've tried the "realistic" way and I don't like it.  My main interest in flight simulation is the airplanes anyway, I do like pretty scenery but it's not my number one priority.

Since I own quite a few of FSDT's products I thought I would ask.  No need for people to critisize how I choose to do this hobby.

Not sure if I want to get into a plane where the captain can't even find the runway

You don't have to worry about that.  I'm not an actual captain and I fly in FSX for fun on my own time.

Maybe look at a chart or should GSX provide them too !!

This is uncalled for.  I don't know what your problem is.

I am not making fun of your hobby! You need not take a little ribbing personal. Part of the challenge is going to a new airport and reading a chart and getting around. virtuali has put a lot into this product, how many more features are needed? How much more are you willing to pay for more of his hard work?
Cheers, Marvic.

You forgot, that there are some airports, which require FollowMe to the Active in LVP. I'd like to see the FollowMe guidance to the active runway. It would be up to the captain if requesting this or not.

As already been discussed, the Follow to the active seems to be a controversial feature: when we talk about this, lots of people (mostly from the US) complained it shouldn't be added, because it's unrealistic, probably because it's really rare in the US.

In fact, it's not so common, but surely is a bit more common in Europe.

In any case, it's a feature we are considering, but probably after other new features we are working on that we believe are more needed, like a full parking editor to allow 100% scenery customization for GSX, which will open the chance for you to share your work with other people too.

For you maybe.  I don't have much interest in that.  Hence my request.

how many more features are needed?

One for me.

How much more are you willing to pay for more of his hard work?

I wouldn't venture into that territory with me.  I'm one of few who thinks all these add-ons are ridiculously cheap.  I'd pay far more for less.
