VC: view blocked by fuselage
« on: October 30, 2007, 01:16:14 pm »
Hi folks,

First of all, congratulations to the magnificent F/A-18 VC!
Nevertheless I noticed a /for me) serious problem.
The superb view from the VC is beeing blocked by the inside of the too wide fuselage!
I wanted to buy the captainsim 2 seater F-18 but it's the same problem.
Here's the screenshot:
Any chance to get that fixed ?
Captainsim stated that they are only responsible for the external model

It's not very clear to me what exactly the problem is. You can't access some VC parts ?

However, it's only Microsoft that can fix this because:

- Captain Sim did the external model

- We did only the actual VC, not the external part of the model visible from inside.

- Microsoft integrated the two meaning, the external part that show up in the VC, are replicated from the external model, and that work was done by Microsoft.

PS
There's no need on this forum to use external hosts to link images. We DO have web space for your images to be uplodaded. Just select "Additional Options" in the message, and Attach your image. This will offer your the benefit of not having to use an external host (they are sometimes *really* slow, and many do not allow direct linking, like the one you used), and the image will show up as thumbnail, not having to be loaded for those with slow connections, if they are not interested.

Hi Umberto,

Thanx for the response  :)
Just updated my message with the screenshot.
Incredible. A beautiful VC and a beautiful external model.
Instead of creating a perfect plane microsoft screws up. Sigh

Just found out that the ugly and wrong afterburner 'disk' is also from microsoft and NOT Captainsim.....

actually, the tburners aren't horrible....if they F18s are anything like the F16's engine, especially at night, it's what I see in real life (except 1 engine on the 16 of course)

Yeah it looks a little too happy-full-of-colors lol, but the purple color is accurate...

heres an f16 pic I took a few nights ago at work  :)

I believe what you are seeing is the canard if I my call it that, it runs along just below the cockpit then extends back to the fuselarge.

You believe wrong.
BTW, it wouldn't make sense to make a high viz canopy IRL and then block the view by the fuselage strake ;)
Furthermore, if it would be the strake it should become more narrow towards the nose, not wider.

I spent several of the firsts minuts with the f-18 comparing external model with the cockpit view trying to guess what were those things blocking the view. It's very strange that when they integrate the fsdreamteam vc didn't notice it.
