And please: Hire somebody who can read and write in english.
Thank you

A thought occurs. Maybe not insulting support is a good strategy to getting support.

Right now this is a text file, but it will eventually evolve into an interactive graphic editor, using the same file format.

When will this be released? The editing gsx.cfg is too much trial and error for me.

Indeed! Roll Eyes
It sounds like that gent's anti-virus is actively preventing the "setup_addonmanagerX.exe" file from running.
Perhaps by adding a process exclusion for this program in the anti-virus settings would help.

The new trucks are absolutely awesome, but could be possible for the next update to integrate different pushback vehicles, like this one?http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_M46BLBn4ztE/TB3PQiDVVKI/AAAAAAAAAuA/UGu4Rg3wXl0/s1600/Airbus+A321-211+EC-JDM+15+Iberia+Madrid+Barajas+BL.jpg
Thanks!!!

I followed your instructions, downloaded "setup_addonmanagerX.exe" (14.1MB)

Since the instructions were obviously correct, this IS the RIGHT thing to do.

Quote
double-clicked it...

Ok, fairly normal for an executable.

Quote
...and nothing.
tried the same procedure by right-clicking the .exe with admin rights and this time:

...still nothing.

This is NOT NORMAL, and it doesn't have anything to do with our products, it doesn't have anything to do with the instructions being "confusing", because they weren't, since you did exactly what you were supposed to do per those instructions, but the fact the program doesn't run is:

1) Not normal

2) Doesn't happen to anyone else

Quote
I would be very much obliged if you could be a bit more specific (and not state the same crap as you did in your previous post) because to some of us newcomers, it makes absolutely no sense at all.

There's no need to add anything. As I've said, the instructions were correct, and in fact you have followed them correctly.

Quote
I have no bloody idea where I can get the new update from,

You already got the updated installer. So, you got the correct file.

Quote
I have no idea what version I got

The GSX version will be show in the Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs) but only if you run the full GSX installer. If you do an update, using the Addon Manager installer, it will not change the GSX *displayed* version, but it's not a problem, because the program will be updated just the same.

Quote
...and I have no more patience wasting my time asking you for some simple help after spending $40.00 on a wonderful addon, but some horrible support.

Everybody knows that we offer the best support, and it would have been enough to check this on the forum, in this VERY THREAD too...

Quote
Unless you don't come up with a plain and simple answer and stop referring to this stupid email we all got, I will be forced to write a plain but very detailed review on AV-Sim.

Then you'll just embarrass yourself, because everybody there knows very well we offer great support and,of course, your "detailed review" would be just like this, if you are sticking to the FACTS:

1) I followed the very easy instructions to update GSX after major upgrade which, as clearly explained both in the manual and in the forum post, when a major update is released, to update GSX you have to download and install the current Stand-Alone Addon Manager for FSX

2) I downloaded the Stand-Alone Addon Manager

3) It hasn't started, for some reason

So, just cut all the nonsense about the "confusing instructions" or the "bad support", because what is REALLY happening is NOT that instructions are confusing, since you did what you were supposed to do, but the installer doesn't START, for SOME REASON, that we of course will try to find out why now.

Fact the program doesn't start on YOUR system doesn't have anything to do with confusing instructions, or bad support. And beside, yesterday was Sunday, and it was probably the first day off I ever had since, well, *FOREVER* because, as everybody knows, we usually give support 7 days at week, which is not normal for any company, and you shouldn't demand it, even when we do it, which is basically always, except *yesterday*

Now that we cleared up your problem didn't had anything to do with supposedly confusing instructions and let alone "bad support", let's try to understand why the setup doesn't start.

- First: to be sure you haven't mistakenly launched two copies of the installer because it didn't started on a first try, try to launch the installer immediately after a Windows REBOOT

- After you double click the addon manager setup.exe, give a bit of time to start: sometimes it might take a while, like a couple of minutes, depending on the system.

- If still doesn't start, REBOOT Windows again, and check the antivirus. As with many other setup programs out there, the antivirus might need to be entirely turned OFF before launching the installer.

First of all:
My sincere appologies for being so rude, thats not me. I have a lot of patience when it comes to stuff like that. Had a bad day at work and was looking really forward to all the new features etc. So after several attempts (and YES, I had my AV disabled), same thing. No difference in the programs folder structure, no gsx.cfg anywhere to be found on my system. I guess I was just too angry and disappointed it wouldn't work.

Once again, I am sorry for my rude behaviour and like to express my deepest regrets to anyone I might have offended.

That being said:
I did everything to the dot what you have outlined in the previous post.
I start the addon manager, it starts downloading some files and then closes. After that I get a message that I allready have the latest version of coautl thingy and no further upgrade/update is neccessary. Yet I don't see any differences in the program, there is NO gsx.cfg file to be found (where is this file supposed to be loacated anyway?)

I include some screenshots of each step when starting the "setup_addonmanagerX.exe"
hmmm. that didn't work (the pic's) how do I upload pic's saved on my pc?

Thanks in advance and once again,
Mi dispiace,

Regards

Yet I don't see any differences in the program

The main difference (there are many other, but this is the biggest one), is that you should now have two baggage loaders on front and back cargo doors, while before the 1.3 update, only the rear cargo door worked.

And, for larger planes, you'll see containers loaders, a whole different type of vehicle that loads containers instead of luggage

None is supposed to appear by itself: the GSX.CFG file a file you can create on your own, to create support for an airplane that is not recognized by GSX, or to adjust a supported airplane with your preferences like, for example, removing a door, or changing the loader type.

I just sit here and wait it out.

thanx 4 the response and....

I am aware GSX is still in it's infant - years, I just do not understand how there is a major update available if I can't
get it.
Just don't know what else to do.

I am aware GSX is still in it's infant - years, I just do not understand how there is a major update available if I can't get it.

Now I really lost you. Why you believe you can't get it ? You said you HAVE installed the Stand-Alone Addon Manager and that, as clearly explained both in the manual and in the update announcement, is all you need to do to be updated.

You said this:

Quote
I start the addon manager, it starts downloading some files and then closes

With "I start the addon manager", you mean you:

1) Exited from FSX

2) Downloaded the Stand-Alone Addon Manager (the link is on the Home Page, and is repeated on each and every "Info" page of every product)

3) Installed the Stand-Alone Addon Manager

4) Re-launched FSX ?

Because, this is what the Live Update told you to do when there's a major update available, this is what the manual says you have to do when there's a major update, and this is what the update post says too.

If you do this, you WILL be updated, regardless of the *displayed* version number in the Windows Control Panel, which still indicates the previous version, because that number (the Windows Control panel works that way) display which version you had when you *originally* launched the full installer. But, as I've said already, the version number is just a display thing, what counts is running the Stand-Alone Addon Manager installer, which WILL update the program and, of course, the biggest change will be having front and back loaders.

An outside perspective:

Crashdive - we all have bad days and for me personally FSX can create one! However we all love the program (I can't call it a game!) and when it works it's great, when there's problems it can be infuriating; since I use this forum I would like to thank you for apologising to everyone  Smiley

Umberto - I bow down to your patience and professionalism in a case just like this, it leaves NO doubt why FSDT lead the way for FSX. Can I suggest that you DO take a day off each week surely we all need one  Smiley

Just don't release updates on Fridays!

Come on lads work together get sorted and be happy

I am flying FSX since the day it got released, so I assume I know a thing or two about it's inner workings.

Either way, here is my problem:
Finally managed to get this last update working, got the push-back truck and the baggage truck. And thats it.
When I start FSX, at a major hub (my preferred hub is KIAH from Blueprint) all I got is the PB truck and the baggage truck.
No loader, no dude loading or unloading the luggage, no fuel truck, no cleaning truck or anything else.
Besides that, I have to go through at least 12 to 15 gates before I find one that doesn't tell me it's too small for my ac, which is the SMS 747.
Before this update, I had everything, didn't have to go through all the gates before finding one that isn't too small, had the loading guys, the refuel and baggage loader, but now - well...  nada.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong, what should be enabled and/or disabled.
I re-installed the last update at least 25 times by now hoping it would resolve this issue, started at different airport's, both default and 3rd party, but it's always the same.

Any suggestions welcome as I am at my wits end.
Is there ANY known incompatibility with any other addon's I should be aware of? Because I dissabled them all to no effect.

thanks

Since nobody every reported this, it can't possibly happening, unless you did something wrong in the installation. Can't you just try downloading the full GSX installer, at least it would be clear what you have to download ? Just download and install it, don't do anything else.

GSX never had a cleaning truck, and you need to call the fuel truck yourself.

Nothing in the update has changed the selection of the parking vs the airplane size which has always been related to the AFCAD parking size, since the first version so, it's just not possible that you would have seen a *difference* in the update.

What the update changed, is that it FIXED a bug that the parkings with YOUR airline code weren't listed at the TOP of the list. So, you are just having the impression you need to scroll the list more than before, but simply because the sorting might have changed. The list is exactly the same as before, and the number of parkings that you can select are exactly the same, but they might appear in a different sorting order.

Un-install previous version first or just download and install on top of existing version?

As I've said:

Just download and install it, don't do anything else.

If uninstalling was needed, I would said: "download, uninstall the existing version and install the one you downloaded"
