Trouble after landing
« on: February 19, 2012, 11:56:32 pm »
I was able to use gsx at departure, but upon arrival I attempted to request a gate and follow me but was told to download the latest stand alone manager. I turned off the anti virus and all seemed to go ok. I taxi'd in and parked unassisted but when requesting deboardibg I again got the dowload message. Ideas??

I don't see why this would listed as be a problem: have you read the manual about the Live update, specifically the different between minor and major updates ?

You can obviously dismiss the update, nothing wrong will happen, except you won't have the last update. It's your choice.

I do understand that I can ignore the update, however I was unable to use any ground services including follow me. The message just kept telling me to download and I never was able to get past it. That is what I would call a problem. I do not know enough about the backend of your product to understand how I could have servicces at departure and then a failure upon landing.

The message just kept telling me to download and I never was able to get past it. That is what I would call a problem.

But it was a Live Update message, which you can dismiss, or an ERROR message, which you can't and would result in the program not working until you update ?

That's entirely different, the Live Update message has its menu with the download, read release notes and dismiss. If you dismiss, it will NOT keep asking to update, until we'll publish ANOTHER update.

Instead, a crash error report will also ask to download the Stand-Alone Addon Manager, but without any choice, and it definitely looks like an error message, without any option to dismiss.

When I logged on tonight and tried GSX I received the error box again informing me that "The addon <unknown> is causing the Couatl Scripting Engine to restart" It references the attached log entry.

Thanks

That log indicates you have probably reinstalled *only* the Stand-Alone Addon Manager, but not GSX itself, you might have uninstalled it and forgot to reinstall it, because the log indicates you don't have the GSX vehicles installed, which can only happen if you haven't installed GSX.

Reinstall GSX, and maybe add also the optional download for the updated vehicles (this will fix some bugs with a couple of them, and add new liveries too)

Ok that did the trick, but I don't know when or what to install. When I requested service I received the message about downloading the latest addon installer which appeared to have installed a large file and I was asked to restart couatl which I did. How will I know whether or not to install gsx too.
Thanks for the help

I really don't understand this question: how you are supposed to use GSX if you don't install it in the first place ? As I've said, the error you got was that the 3d objects that come with GSX aren't installed, which can only happen if you haven't installed GSX or, more likely, you installed it, uninstalled it, and forgot to reinstall it, and reinstalled only the Addon Manager.

If you install GSX now, there shouldn't be any need to install the Addon Manager, the Addon Manager is required ONLY if you install a scenery *after* GSX, and need to update everything without reinstalling GSX.
