NGX/FSDT Advice
« on: January 29, 2012, 11:34:44 pm »
Hello All,

Recently I have finally updated my system and now am (slowly) making my first foray into FSX.

I have been looking at the NGX and came here for some insight into how she runs with the FSDT airports (particularly ORD).

I do most of my flying from the FSDT spots, and I love my AI traffic (UT2).

My new system is not blazing, but it's no slouch either:

Intel Core i7-2600 processor(8MB Cache, 3.4GHz)
12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHZ
Nvidia Geforce GT530
Serial ATA II RAID 0 With Dual 500GB Hard Drives
Windows 7, 64BIT

I am well aware the NGX is demanding, as well one should expect given it's complexity. Obviously I'm not asking for a FPS estimate but I came here to see if other users here have the NGX and what kind of performance they're getting.

While the NGX and FSX is enticing, if being able to fly the thing means dialing the sliders way back, and flying with no AI and only on a cloudless day (and avoiding my FSDT airports) – then I'll stick to FS9 for my heavy iron flying.

Thanks for any insight fellas!

-Lou

You should be more than fine, at KORD I average between 18-22 fps with 100% traffic and REX and all sliders a little above the middle.

My Specs are: I5-2500K OC 4.0GHZ
4GHZ Ram
EVGA GTX 460 SE
2 X 1TB WD HDD Sata 6
Windows 7 64 Bit

Thanks for the reply, are you using the stock FSX AI or an aftermarket AI program?

Thanks again for the reply.
